I had an appointment today in the clinic 6 and everything run so smoothly that I’m very impressed and thankful. The nurses, Irene and Raul, were very helpful and professional. I couldn’t believe it to be honest cause I’ve been reading others people reviews. Also doctor Kelly’s attention was impeccable. She made me a lot of questions (appreciate that) and sent me for full tests to be done. And the ladies at the pharmacy work very hard (kudos to them!) and solve everything so quickly. I’m very impressed. I’ve never seen a clinic running so well. Everyone deserves a raise :) thank you everyone
Unfortunately had a very bad experience here. I presented to the emergency room from a referral from the VHI that it was my appendix's and I may have to get it removed. Saw a lovely UCD doctor may have been on placement and she was very good and ran some tests. She advised me to come back the next day to see the surgical doctor. Which I did, I then met a lady who examined me and sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. I kept explaining that my pain felt like it was my coil. She said she checked the placement of the coil and it was fine. She got increasely busy and discharged me. I had to ask what she thought it may be as she didn’t even mention and put it down to mid cycle pain, she didn’t offer any medication for the pain or advice until I had to ask. Then I presented back a few days later with the pain. I saw a male doctor from the ED surgery department. I could tell straight away that he was not going to be too interested in what I had to say. I sat down and explained my symptoms and that I felt it was my coil. He said my tests were normal the few days before so there’s likely nothing he can do. Then he offered he could try an antibiotic just because. He then said I can examine you if you want but likely won’t change anything. I began to cry as I was so frustrated and couldn’t believe this behaviour from a doctor. He tried to comfort me by saying that I have a strapping boyfriend and what’s there to worry about. I kept asking for them to remove my coil. He said he can’t and he doesn’t know about the side effects with that. He said nobody in the hospital can help and that I need to go to my GP. I then had to wait over the weekend with this pain until I could get into the women’s health centre. I contemplated removing the coil myself as I couldn’t believe a hospital is incapable of removing a coil especially if the patient is experiencing side effects. I got the coil removed and the pain went away and has not returned. I brought this complaint through the mater process which took months and the recording of my visits is incredibly frightening. Saying I opted to go to my GP who doesn’t even deal with coils and turned me away. I was also referred for a gastro consult that was never mentioned to me. A doctor also recorded that they rang me and said they would repeat the bloods which did not occur they rang and asked did I want to see a doctor which I explained I was told by the Surgical ED doctor that they cannot help me. Another example of women being dismissed and their symptoms and pain.
We're so appreciative of the service my partner received here during major surgery. They nurses and doctors and were extremely informative, reassuring and helpful. They make you feel supported and safe during your visit! The wider hospital staff (attendings, care assistants, porters etc) were all so lovely too. Thank you so much for everything!
Excellent service and polite staff. However, the waiting time was extremely long – three hours waiting to see a doctor for a consultation that lasted less than three minutes. Not to mention the HSE, which never provides any feedback on imaging results. There is much room for improvement and much to learn from hospitals with high standards.
Very disappointing and demoralising experience. After years of appointments, I was asked, “So how can I help?” as if there were no record of my history.
There is clearly little communication between doctors, and I rarely see the same doctor twice, which means no continuity of care. When I asked about my scan results, I was told, “I thought you got your results?”I didn’t, and that appointment was back in September.
I’m repeatedly asked the same questions and have to retell my story every time, which is frustrating and emotionally draining. Another day gone with no answers or progress. It’s starting to feel like a complete joke.
Overall, a very upsetting experience with poor organisation and lack of proper patient care.

I fell off my bike. The roads in Ireland are filled with potholes. A broken wrist was the end result. I went to the swift clinic in Smithfield. Sweet in and out in less than two hours. Since then I’ve been back to the main hospital twice for X-rays and changing of my cast . Super service no complaints. You will have to wait a while but that’s life.
