Gladys Robinson
After my follow up appointment with my PCP, she sent me immediately to the ER. My attention and care given was excellent, perhaps a lil slow, but taking under consideration the number of patients going into emergency and perhaps a need to medical staff, I am satisfied with the treatment and performance from all of them, including non medical staff. After admitting me, the prompt attention, care, understanding, friendliness, and everything else from doctors, nurses, and other medical, and none medical staff, was excellent without any doubt. I would recommend Jefferson-Abington hospital in general without any doubt. Again, to my experience, I think you might benefit a lot by hiring more professional staff in general. Thank you so, so much for all your care and support. Great job!!!
UPDATED REVIEW
Back in the hospital because my mother has an internal infection post her surgery. I am deeply disappointed with the nursing staff and frankly, Dr. Fassler, the surgeon. My mother is now suffering because we weren’t listened to. She had a low grade fever post surgery (suppressed my Tylenol), and the doctor disregarded my insistence that this was problematic and said the fever wasn’t high enough to warrant concern (while it was being suppressed by medicine). Here we are a week later with an infection. My advice to the doctor, don’t disregard or laugh off sincere concerns because it doesn’t help your post op results and family members know the patients better than you do.
PS: thank you so much for bringing a second chair in so my dad and I could sleep with my mom overnight. JUST KIDDING. Despite several requests, the nursing and aid staff refused to give us a second chair, once again creating psychologically unsafe and stressful environment for my mother by depriving her of the comfort of her loved ones.
Abington Hospital, specifically, the second floor of Lenfest and Dr. Fassler once again demonstrated a lack of regard for patients and their families. For the sake of all your patients, I genuinely hope you are able to do better and learn from our harrowing experience.
AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT A PROBLEMATIC SURGERY AND INFECTION.
Old review
This review is specifically for the nurse, Nazjah, in Lenfest pavilion. My close family member had a very serious emergency surgery and I was caring for them in the hospital. The majority of the nurses and the nurse manager are fantastic, however Nazjah treated my family member so horrifically I am compelled to write a review. I don’t do this lightly, but her behavior is completely unacceptable. Here’s what happened, my family member needed to go to the restroom - Nazjah did not help her up, I helped her up. It’s extremely painful to get in and out of bed for her so once we completed going to the bathroom, we told Nazjah we would like to go for a walk- the doctors have asked us to walk frequently as it is the best thing for recovery. Then Nazjah very aggressively said, you can’t go for a walk until she takes her meds. My family member said “ok I’ll take them standing because it hurts a lot to get up and down” - Nazjah then said no, then I need to examine you. I asked if she could come back and do the examination (a thirty second check of vitals) in a few minutes and she very rudely said “she’s not going for a walk now”. Keep in mind my family member is a 72 year old woman who is a doctor and she’s being spoken to so disrespectfully. Then Nazjah abruptly left the room, leaving my mom sitting and waiting and INSISTING that she examine her now and brought in another nurse. Then they proceeded to giggle and laugh at us once the exam was over. In all my years managing people, if I ever saw anyone speak to another human the way Nazjah spoke to my family member I would fire them immediately. I am deeply disappointed in her terrible attitude, lack of bedside manner, lack of patient care, and lack of empathy. It would have cost NOTHING to spare my family member the pain of getting in and out of bed again and let her go for a walk down the hall.
I understand procedures need to be followed, but ultimately, this nurse compromised my mother’s comfort and caused her immense mental distress, which is unequivocally unhealthy for recovering from a major surgery, and when I informed her how extremely painful it is for her to get in and out of bed she accused me of compromising her care, her daughter who has slept by her side in the hospital for the last 4 days.
I also then asked the other nurse that came in the room for the nurse manager’s email address and she said she didn’t know it and couldn’t provide it.
Nazjah’s tone, aggressive communication style, professional maturity, and actions towards my mother were disappointing to say the least.
Visit today was for the Vascular Department. The staff is very pleasant. Loved that I could have an ultrasound with results and a doctor visit the same day. Was done within two hours.👏🏼Had an ultrasound and the radiologist was exceptional. Dr. Jubileer was very thorough and answered all my questions. Explained corroded arteries in terms, I could understand using the charts that were on the wall.
Great visit, left the office a little more knowledgeable!😊
My husband was transferred in from a rehab center. At around 7:30 pm. He was kept overnight in the ER waiting for a bed to open up. In the meantime he was not given anything to eat or drink. Which is understood. But later on breakfast time the nurse said that he was free to eat, and that he was going to get a breakfast tray.. nothing. He was moved to a room and I was told "they are going to get him a tray there... nothing. Lunch time came and again he didn't get a tray. I had to go down to the cafeteria and buy his meal. For dinner he did get a tray and I fed him. I explained to the nurse that my husband is legally blind and needs to be fed. I wrote in in their communication board before I left him for the night. The next morning I got there and I found chewed up boiled eggs with the shells on, spilled black coffee all over, the packets of sugar and creamer were untouched. I called the nurse and showed her that, she said "he didn't call for help, if he needed help he could have called." I reminded he has dementia, is forgetful and legally blind. She said "oh, I didn't know that. No one told me that" I pointed to the communication board where the information was still written. She said "nobody looks at that " so I made a point to be there for meals everyday he was there. I was sure nobody was going to feed him or even set up and orient him to his meal. I was so angry and so disappointed with the care.
Abington Hospital had a reputation of being an awesome place for medical treatment and providing excellent care for decades, that is now not the case! . Abington hospital is now under the network of Jefferson. My experience there , several days ago was most disappointing, not the same hospital as before. The standards regarding patient care has dramatically changed, unfortunately a lot to be desired, although the technology was impressive.
A night nurse, Sahar was exceptional, the best nurse that provided care to me during my stay in the observation building, Linfiest.
During My initial admission, I was place in what I call the holding unit for one day, waiting for an available bed, which a bed was finally available the next day. That was truly an experience , alot to be desired! Relying on someone to disconnect your iv to go use the bathroom, was a nightmare, which would probably ended up having an accident on yourself which happened to me. That was so degrading, just a horrible experience. Again poor patient care.
I would have never imagine the drastic change in care, .lowering their standard in the quality of patient care and the substandard care of many of the nurses for the patient, regarding treatment and communication, under Jefferson's network and take over. I was extremely disappointed, however the two employees that were above the norm at Abington Jefferson Hospital, were a PA named Scott and a nurse name Sahar. I was blessed to be assigned to their care.
First let me thank my surgeon, Dr. Chad Krueger, Rothman Institute, and his team for the amazing job they did to bring me to wellness. I also have to mention everyone involved at Jefferson Abington involved in my surgery from start to finish. From checking in to checking out, the entire team was just that, a team working together to make sure that my needs were met. And not just mine but my wife also, who was able to spend the night right next to me in a very comfortable recliner. At every turn we both felt like we were treated with respect and compassion. And to top things off we got an amazing and warm send off from the Abington Senior High School with a beautiful flower arrangement. And who says a hospital stay can’t be memorable; ours certainly was. Thank you all so much, nurses and doctors, attendants and all the staff. Keep up the great work. It’s not going unnoticed. And I also won’t forget all the interesting conversations about Hibiclens, gluten intolerance, medical dramas, and a fascinating account of Ireland in the 70’s. Awesome!
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, my pregnant minor niece, who was 33 weeks along, was assessed in Labor and Delivery after falling onto concrete. We anticipated compassionate and respectful care in this distressing moment.
However, our experience was entirely unacceptable. Nurse Suzy was dismissive and unprofessional during our interaction. We also faced disrespect from Charge Nurse Amber Debolt, RN, and Nursing Supervisor Renee.
I was given two options: either leave my other minor niece alone in the waiting room to stay with my pregnant niece, or leave both minors unattended in the exam room while I waited for hours in the family lounge. Neither was feasible or appropriate for a family caring for two children.
Hospitals need to communicate visitor policies with compassion and common sense. Our family was dismissed, unsupported, and treated insensitively in an already stressful and emotional situation.
I urge hospital leadership to review this incident immediately and emphasize the importance of respectful, compassionate communication. Every patient and family deserves dignified treatment, especially when involving a pregnant minor after an injury.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Everyone was so kind, caring and exceptional in taking care of me. The entire staff from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors to the escort at the end were so exceptional. I felt completely surrounded by love. It really was the quintessential experience for a same day surgery. However, I must say I have always had an exceptional experience at Abington Hospital now Abington Jefferson the quality is still excellent.
