Review for Paeds Trauma & Orthopaedics, X-Ray service teams & general observations. Paeds Trauma & Orthopaedics - Clinic 1: Friendly polite reception, with information delivered calmly and concisely. Wait time was less than 5 minutes. Consultation was very professional, thorough and informative with recommendations made to assist and continue until remedy. X-Ray: Reception dealt with us politely and courteously. Wait time was no more than 20 minutes. X-Ray staff were also polite, gave instructions clearly and seemed comfortable in managing the process (Not rushed) Wait time: Throughout the time at the hospital, waiting was minimal. Hospital outlook and Condition: Royal Free has a real Dickensian old feel to it. It’s not a modern building; however, the equipment seemed to be to newer technology (I'm no expert though). Waiting seats seemed to either be new or old and worn. Number of staff available to help seemed to be a lot, almost someone at every entrance waiting to help or advice and more than 2 people at each departmental reception we encountered. This appears to be a good thing, in terms of service quality, but with the financial strains on the NHS, this did seem somewhat excessive! Facilities & amenities: Step and Step-Free access with lifts in hospital. toilet not cleaned in 2 hours. Theres a WH Smith & M&S Food Store within the hospital.

Bad service through out CARE Quality commission gives this hospital needs IMPROVEMENT. Should be needs demolished and new start of the art hospital in place. Building is run down. Already had items stolen from personal bag while moving between floor 3 to floor 9. No one in this hospital cares about it . Called Police to investigate and not interested. Eager to discharge patients to home without care packages or help . This is the worst NHS Hospital experience I have ever had. Consultants and other departments do not liaise with each other. Tried to be discharged with one hours notice and risk being sent back into community with care package etc and no one at home once I get there. UPDATE- Re admitted as wounds not healing and a further operation carried out. Currently on vacuum pump and plastics. Currently no discharge date given.

Royal Free Hospital: Well placed with many nearby bus stops and close to Hampstead Heath Overground, plus access to green space. The emergency department is below ground, and parking is very limited and often difficult.

First time i got admitted to this hospital due to a very painful chest pain. And i was told that this hospital specialises for any heart condition. I was surprised as the moment i entered the A&E everyone was extremely polite and caring. (Never had that kind in my other usual hospital visit) was brought to ATA the nurse who was looking after me was really nice as well I forgot her name tho. Then i was brought to the ward 10west after. I stayed there for a week. For monitoring and to get an angiogram done. Although i asked to be sent home for a personal reason and i was feeling well the doctors and nurses advice me not to go home and they will try everything to get my angio done asap, all the Doctors, nurses, asst nurses was really helpful, patience, kind, emphatic, sympathetic i don't know what else i can say but i was really stress free, relax, and at ease when i was there as I can see that they are looking after not just me but everyone else VERY VERY WELL. And again, I never had that experience in another Hospital although they were good but not in these level of caring like the people in 10west. Also in IRCU where i got my angio done, all the nurses 🙌 and cardio DR thank you. 🙏 Special thanks to BINDOO, ERENITA, YNA, JULIA, KELVIN. AMAZING PEOPLE. Thank you so much..

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Professor Brian Davidson and his team for the outstanding care I received during my treatment for stage 4 neuroendocrine tumour. I first underwent a Whipple operation, and three months later I had a major liver resection where half of my liver was removed. From the very beginning, everything was handled with professionalism, care, and reassurance. Both operations went smoothly, and my recovery was very well supported throughout my hospital stay. Professor Davidson visited me regularly and always showed genuine kindness, compassion, and sincere concern for my wellbeing. During one of the most difficult times in my life, his calm and caring manner gave me strength, confidence, and hope. He is not only an exceptional surgeon, but also a truly wonderful human being who made me feel safe and cared for every step of the way. I sincerely believe he saved my life, and I will always be grateful for the treatment and support I received from him and the entire medical team. I would highly recommend Professor Brian Davidson to anyone needing specialist surgical care . Fatma Zengin

PLEASE DONT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE. I had an extremely disappointing experience at Royal Free Hospital last night. I arrived at around 10:30pm expecting a relatively quiet environment and was told the wait time to see a doctor would be no longer than 3 hours. After completing my initial assessment with a nurse around 11pm, I was asked to take a seat and wait to be called. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. I ended up waiting over 6 hours with no update, only to then be told it could be another 4 hours or more. When I asked what was going on, I was informed that patients are not seen on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather depending on the severity of their condition—which I understand, but this was never clearly explained upfront. What made the situation even more frustrating was the attitude of the staff. When I questioned the delay, I was met with dismissive and disrespectful responses. One staff member even told me to “go ahead and leave” and said, “I know my job,” which felt completely unprofessional and uncaring. After waiting over 8 hours with no sign of being seen by a doctor, I finally gave up and left. The lack of communication, extremely long wait times, and poor staff attitude made this an unacceptable experience. I would strongly advise others to think twice before coming here if you value timely care and respectful treatment.

I had a lovely experience today at the Royal free Hospital in Hampstead, specifically at the A&E department. My brother sprained his wrist so we had to preform an X-ray and then get a wrist cast. It took few hours, but honestly it went quicker than I expected. All personell were helpful and great. Big thanks to Dr.Neville, Saharla and Dorothy. They were absolutely lovely, competent and took care of my brother! Great experince overall ✨️👍🏻

At this stage, I can only review the RFL Patient app rather than the medical care itself, as I've only had one appointment so far. Unfortunately, the app has been a real disappointment. Even several days after my blood tests, not even the basic results are visible, which makes it very difficult to keep track of your own health. Compared with Patient Knows Best, the difference is huge. Patient Knows Best is much clearer, faster, and far more user-friendly, while the RFL app feels outdated and frustrating to use. As for the specialist and the quality of care, it's too early for me to give a fair opinion after just one visit. I'll wait and see how things progress over time before making any judgement.
