Came here once about 15 years ago with an aunt who wasn’t very well and visited once more about 10-11 years ago for a walk around the vicinity with my wife.
And then visited yesterday Saturday 9.5.26 to visit a Khalu.
It was fairly easy to get here from home, and inside the hospital is too hard to navigate around but due to the size to get to some areas there’s a long walk without any shortcuts. The premise seemed fairly clean but I’d say there’s room for improvement for a world renowned hospital like this.
We parked at car park A but walked the wrong way round to the hospital as the signs weren’t very clear but later realised it’s connected to the hospital . The parking charges do seem high for a hospital and I’ve seen alot of people complaining about the charges. It’s a hospital so not sure why they letting the 3rd party company charge so much especially when most people are struggling already . But still one of the best hospitals around.
I recently visited Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and overall had a positive experience. The hospital is modern, clean, and well-maintained, which immediately gives a reassuring impression.
The staff I encountered were professional, caring, and clearly very hardworking. Despite how busy it was, they remained polite and did their best to keep patients informed. The standard of care I received was good, and I felt I was in safe hands throughout.
However, waiting times were quite long, which can be frustrating, especially during peak hours. Communication could also be improved slightly in terms of updates while waiting.
That said, considering the pressure the NHS is under, the team are doing a commendable job. Overall, a solid experience and I’m grateful for the care provided.
I attended A&E on 10 May where I was promptly booked in and within 10 minutes I was being triaged, assessed, bloods taken and had an ECG. All the triage staff I dealt with were brilliant. I had a CT scan and then received my results which were explained to me clearly. I then had a consultation with a doctor who took time to examine me thoroughly, was attentive when talking to me and completely put my mind at ease. The whole process was done with care, kindness and absolute professionalism. While A&E by nature is a busy and chaotic place, the one on one patient care I received was excellent. All the staff from reception, triage nurses, CT scan operatives, and doctors were exceptional with me and the service I received was first class. I was highly anxious and dreaded going but left impressed. Special note of thanks to Dr Sadiq Khan who was outstanding in his treatment, engaging manner and compassion. Despite no doubt treating hundreds of patients that day, he really made me feel like I mattered. Huge thank you from me.
I bring my father in law daily for radio and chemo. Today he needed a blood test and it was quiet after a lady came out of the room and openly nobody else in there I stood at the doorway for 15 mins while the two nurses where looking on mobile phones and having a right natter making us 15 mins late for our appointment when I told my dad in law the nurse napped at me did I just say something my reply was I was speaking to my father in law explaining we would be late for his appointment 15 mins ago. She snapped rudely back WE AREa going as quick as we can. Very rude and should leave their gossip and photos for break or after working time. No excuses for this at all
I was booked in for overnight stay on the 5 the September. This was to sort out a long ongoing issue with the nerves leaving the spinal column at C5 & C6.
I had a few issues at reception, discharge, with the food, and unfortunately the operation didn't go as planned. However my consultant and everyone in the Bournville Ward couldn't have been more helpful or attentive.
On behalf of those who require transport, someone needs to review and sort out the efficiency and communication within the Discharge Lounge. There were a lot I of unhappy people in my time there, and it appeared quite rightly so.
Having an high blood pressure reading, my doctor sent me to The QE with a letter for further investigation. Throughout I was treated with respect and care. The wait was long, but the doctors and nurses were thorough. One nurse in the MSDEC unit conducted a retinal scan. I told her that I’d not eaten that day and was hungry. This angel found me a very welcome sandwich and a cup of tea. She really did go beyond. I didn’t get her name but I’d like to thank her so much. Keep up the great work QE Hospital!
Despite long waiting times as per usual NHS average for emergency dept & Compared to other A+ E experiences, staff here have been friendly , understanding and competent from my observations. I wanted to praise star quality of staff member Maureen from housekeeping who brought out water for patients and left the place spotless even having conversations with patients to make them feel at ease. She deserves to be recognised! Bravo ! Keep up the good work staff! I arrived broken and left with a smile and hope to heal myself due to the kind and competent nature of staff ( all housekeeping , nurses and Drs)
