I arrived at the hospital on Wednesday 4th March feeling absolutely terrified about the total hip replacement surgery I was about to have. I was shown to my room on Cedar Ward (Room 159) at 7:00am, where I was greeted and cared for by several members of the team who immediately helped to put me at ease.
The anaesthesiologist took the time to talk me through everything clearly, which really helped calm my nerves. Shortly afterwards, Mr Matthew Hearth came to see me. As I was first on the theatre list, I was taken down promptly for surgery.
After the operation, I was taken into recovery where my recovery nurse, Amy, was wonderful, incredibly kind, caring and reassuring during those first moments after surgery. I was then taken back up to my room to continue my recovery.
Throughout my stay, the catering staff, porters, cleaners and HCAs have all been excellent. Everyone has been friendly, professional and supportive, which really makes a difference when you are in hospital.
The nursing team have been fantastic. During the day I was looked after by Marena and Lynn, who were both attentive and compassionate.
However, I would particularly like to recognise the night sister, Sherry. She is truly outstanding. I simply don’t have the words to describe just how superb she is. Every night Sherry has looked after me with such care, kindness and professionalism. Her dedication and the way she treats her patients is exceptional, and she is a huge credit to the hospital.
Her care is what has made my stay a 10/10 experience, and I sincerely hope her hard work and commitment are recognised. I am incredibly grateful to her and to the entire team who have made what was a very frightening experience much easier for me.

The whole process was wonderful from the greeting at reception, to post op meal. Everything was explained fully before and after my operation and all the staff were amazing. I cannot thank everyone involved in my operation enough. The theatre Team and Mr Lamba were superb. The operation was smooth and I was comfortable at all times. The individual room for pre op waiting was lovely with great facilities and I could relax until my theatre slot. All of the associated staff, anaesthetist, nurses, physio, catering etc, came to the room to see me except the pharmacist that called on the room phone. All totally wonderful. I recommend the Holly without reservation and thank every involved who have now given me many more active years and hopefully a return to marathon running ( a large part of my life) in the near future. Would just like to share my experience.
From reception to discharge the staff were all exceptional.
All the professionals on the ward were so friendly and accommodating.
I'd like to mention by name but far too many.
From the Sister the nurses, catering, hospitality, physiotherapist, pharmacist all went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible.
Checking to see if I needed anything further. Or any complaints.
The specialist surgeon's and theatre staff all amazing. Just made the whole experience less stressful.
Really appreciate the exceptional care and support from you all. Amazing job

I recently had a total hip replacement at Holly Hospital Nuffield and I cannot praise the entire team highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease thanks to the most wonderful, caring and professional staff.
My first encounter was with nurse Maria Louis, whose warm, friendly and witty nature instantly put me at ease — the perfect welcome when you're feeling nervous! The night duty nursing team of Rebecca Tamlowe, Cosmin Tudor, Mirko, Molly, Liz and Lisa were absolutely outstanding — attentive, reassuring and such a joy to be cared for by.
The day duty nursing team of Jackie Chai, Tijen and Claudia couldn't have been more helpful if they tried — nothing was ever too much trouble. A huge thank you also to Vanessa for her brilliant menu recommendations... the food was genuinely lovely!
A heartfelt thank you to Dr Korede, the wonderful anaesthetist team, and my exceptional surgeon Mr Kesavan Sri-Ram, whose skill and expertise have given me a new lease of life.
If I have left anyone out, I sincerely apologise — you know who you are and you are all equally wonderful. Holly Hospital Nuffield should be incredibly proud of every single member of this team. They don't just do their jobs, they go above and beyond to make patients feel safe, cared for and valued.

Had a Gastroscopy booked at the Holly Hospital in May 2026. The customer care and procedure was second to none. From Wendy taking me to my room and making me feel very relaxed to Roseann Barker who was so calm and thorough with her questions and run through of the procedure. On the way to the operating theatre Kevin Mccklintock was a breath of fresh air…I didn’t even feel like I was about to have a procedure done. Dr Tanweer was very calm and assuring and made me believe 100% I was in good hands. After the procedure Maria Louis was very patient and kind with the help given afterwards. In all, I would very much recommend this team of specialists. I felt so comfortable…I didn’t want to leave :)
Reviewing hospitals seem rather odd to me, either you need one or your don’t. However The Holly experience has been worth a mention because as soon as I was met at reception by Christine and shown to my room she set the bar that the medical staff also succeeded to meet. From Tijen to Sherry everyone involved in my day surgery was fantastic, supportive and encouraging. I was under the consult Mr Tonega for a knee op (sorry as medical as I get) and would recommend this Nuffield Hospital!
Ive had an amazing experience in the holly hospital from the consultations to the surgery every member of staff were very helpful and caring. I was really nervous about my knee surgery but the people here made it so much easier. I would like to personally mention Mr. jason Patel, who's done an amazing job in the surgery. The nurse Johncy Sarkutty who was there with me until I went into the surgery and kept reassuring me. The amazing sister Maria Louis who looked after me and made sure I had my meds. The kitchen staff Tara and Vanessa who served me some delicious meals. Tajin Yusuf the house keeping staff who made sure I was comfortable. JP and Brian the physios who looked after me and is helping me recover every single one of them have been amazing and helped with everything I needed and made it a pleasant experience.
