My experience at Bupa Cromwell Hospital was truly world-class. From start to finish, the administrative process via Bupa insurance was effortless. I was incredibly impressed by the hospital's efficiency; within a single week, I progressed from an initial consultation and ultrasound to surgery.
I was under the care of Mr Ahmed R. Ahmed, a leading consultant in bariatric and general surgery, who performed my laparoscopic hernia repair. Mr Ahmed was both highly professional and deeply attentive, providing transparent explanations that gave me total confidence in my treatment plan.
The hospital itself is spotlessly clean, feeling more like a quality hotel than a clinical facility, yet it is clearly powered by advanced technology and expert professionals. This seamless process was elevated by an incredible team; everyone from the anaesthetist to the nursing staff (Britney and the rest of the crew. Sorry guys I don’t remember all your names but you know I absolutely loved the few hours we spent together 💚🩵💙) showed a much-appreciated friendly approach and immense empathy. Their compassionate care was invaluable in calming my nerves before surgery. From state-of-the-art facilities to expert surgical outcomes, the entire journey was efficient, professional, and exceptionally caring.
I underwent a minor cardiac surgery procedure at Cromwell as a day patient three weeks ago. My experience was entirely positive across the board.
The surgical team and the supporting nursing staff were excellent. My consultant and anaesthetist explained to me the procedure I would be undergoing and what I should expect afterwards (I was fully up to speed but it doesn’t hurt to tell you again). Their communication style was spot on – clear and factual, but with empathy. I wasn’t a nervous patient, but for anyone who was, I think the way they interacted with me would have been reassuring. All of the admin/ support staff did a great job as well – everyone from the pre-admission nurses to the porters, reception staff and the finance team. The whole process was handled very efficiently from pre-admission to discharge.
One very important issue is culture. All the people I interacted with, of whatever level of seniority and in whichever role, seemed to enjoy working at Cromwell – I asked several while I was there. In my opinion that is usually a good sign from the point of view of management and governance. People enjoy working in places where standards are high, proper processes are followed and pay and promotion are merit-based. That’s the type of hospital you should want to be treated in.
This was by far one of the worst hospital experiences I have ever had. For a hospital that promotes itself as providing high-quality care, the reality was completely different.
The lack of urgency was shocking. I was left waiting for excessive periods of time while clearly in severe pain. Despite crying and visibly distressed, it still took around an hour and a half to receive pain relief. No patient should be left suffering like that.
What was even more upsetting was the apparent lack of compassion from the staff. From doctors to nurses, I felt ignored, dismissed, and treated as though my pain was an inconvenience rather than a medical concern. There seemed to be little communication, little empathy, and very little interest in patient wellbeing.
One nurse in particular was exceptionally rude and unprofessional. Instead of offering reassurance or support, their attitude made an already distressing situation even worse.
I left feeling neglected, frustrated, and completely disappointed. A hospital should be a place where patients feel cared for and supported, especially when they are in pain. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at all. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hospital.
I went here for a cardiovascular issue. I had the opportunity to meet a wonderful person: Dr. Sukhjinder Nijjer. He provided excellent care and attention and recommended the best treatment method. May God protect him; the world needs such experienced and wonderful doctors. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This hospital looked after my sister with grace 🙏🙏
The service by the nurses doctors and all the staff was fantastic
Meals served were delicious and piping hot
Rooms were spacious
Wc and shower room was adequate
Thanks guys 🙂😀😀😀
I wanted to thank Dr Raza, anesthesiologist Ah Fee Chan, and the whole army of nurses (Ola, Brithany, Denia (Dr Raza's assistant) and the night nurse that unfortunately I do not recall the name of), and other staff for looking after me so well during my stay at Cromwell after hysterectomy. Your professional approach and caring attitude has made my stay comfortable. I could not wish for a better care. Thank you!
My daughter had a hernia repair operation last week and the care she received was outstanding. Mr Misra and the whole team on the children’s ward were just incredible (there’s not enough positive words to explain just how amazing all the staff are). We were put at ease throughout our stay which was incredibly important for us so we could be the best support for our 3 year old. Everyone was so attentive; all the nurses, theatre team, catering staff and porter. Thank you to you all.
Incredibly underwhelming service for a private healthcare provider. If you are to use them, I suggest you come with a ton of patience to navigate an intricate web of bureaucracy. Honestly this hospital makes the nhs look like one of the best performing F1 teams by comparison… if you want something 10x better for the same price I would recommend Portland clinic!
