I was here for a few days. Every single person working here that I came into contact with from beginning to end was awesome. The AMAZING nurses were kind and attentive. The doctors were knowledgeable and thorough. The person who gave me an MRI was so reassuring and patient. Even the people who bring meals and push the wheelchairs were great. I feel like I got exceptional care at this hospital.

Second time having a child here and honestly they keep exceeding our expectations. From the food, the Nurses, the clean floors, everything and everyone is so nice here. They put us in room 1364 and the view was complimentary. Food suggestions that we ordered and didn’t disappoint; The bolognese lasagne, Greek salad, Turkey wrap, Breakfast potatoes. Also Ramen-San across the street has a great happy hour and so does Beatrix, as suggestions outside of the northwestern hospital menu.

'm writing with mixed feelings about my mom's recent stay at Northwestern. Historically, I've considered Northwestern to be among the best hospitals available, but this experience has left me with serious concerns alongside some genuine gratitude. The check-in process in the ER was difficult from the start. We waited about four hours before my mom was given a gurney, and because the ER was so busy, she was placed in a hallway for two full days before a room became available. I understand staffing and capacity pressures are real, but two days in a hallway is a long time for any patient — especially one as medically fragile as my mom, who has only one arm, is blind in one eye, has neuropathy in her left arm, recently had a fistula placed that is still swollen, and was just diagnosed with a chest tumor. To their credit, every doctor and nurse we encountered during this stretch was attentive and apologetic about the situation. They were clearly overwhelmed, and they still made an effort to treat my mom with care. Once my mom was moved to the observation floor and then transferred to an inpatient room the following day, the nursing care was excellent. I also want to specifically recognize Dr. Kuak and Dr. Washington, both of whom communicated clearly and patiently with me about my mom's lab results and plan of care. Their communication was one of the best parts of the experience. Unfortunately, there were two incidents during the stay that seriously disappointed me. First, the discharge process on Monday was handled poorly. The social worker did not contact me directly. Instead, my mom called me at 3:00 PM to tell me she was being discharged to a rehab center at 5:00 PM. Two hours was not nearly enough time for me to drive to her apartment, gather her belongings, and coordinate the transition. A simple phone call from the social worker earlier in the day would have made a meaningful difference. Second, and more troubling, two staff members who assisted my mom at lunch were unkind to her. My mom needs help eating — she has one arm, limited vision, neuropathy, and she is weak from her recent diagnosis and procedures. Rather than helping her, these staff told her repeatedly to "be independent." She lost her appetite, told them she was full just to end the interaction, and they left her food on the tray and walked out. When I arrived at her room, there was food and napkins all over the floor. That is not acceptable treatment for any patient, and certainly not for one as vulnerable as my mom. Staff assigned to assist disabled or medically compromised patients need training and oversight to ensure they are actually providing the help these patients need. I want to be fair: the physicians and most of the nursing staff were compassionate and skilled, and I am grateful for the care they provided. But the ER overcrowding, the rushed and uncommunicated discharge, and especially the way my mom was treated at mealtime have genuinely shaken my confidence. I used to recommend Northwestern above all other hospitals. After this experience, I am having second thoughts.

My name is L.C Austin Jr and I was admitted into Northwestern Hospital on 10/13/2025 for a C2-T1 posterior decompression and fusion surgery with Dr. Alpesh Patel at the center for spine health. My life has forever been changed and has left me without the use of my hands and the inability to raise both my arms. I'm hoping with corrective nerve surgery I can become independent again but NorthWestern hospital hasn't done a thing to alleviate the situation they caused or reached out to me in any way. My hope is that no one has to endure what I am experiencing and to seriously consider other options when dealing with spine care at Northwestern Hospital. It's been almost a year since my spine surgery and nothing has changed.

I recently went to this hospital with a broken arm. Because of the pain and my lack of food I was not in the most pleasant mood with the emergency room staff and they were still completely amazing with me patient they took their time explained everything even though I was being a little hard-headed then I was sent upstairs I was in room 1233 The care I received was second to none every single person from the doctor in charge to the nursing assistant was so polite so helpful I felt more as though I was being taken care of by family members instead of strangers. Absolutely top tier on every level

I work in healthcare and have seen & experienced excellent care, this was not it. I came in with radiating chest pain & had to wait forever to be seen. The overnight security staff was rude & unprofessional. The ER doctors brushed off my concerns & didn’t take them seriously. They just throw a bunch of meds at you & send you on your way. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor regarding my chest pain even though I told them I was visiting from out of state & won’t be able to go back home for several days. Ultimately, I discharged in pain & left with no answers other than “I think it could be this” or “I think it could be that”. One of the nurses there even told me “alot of people leave here with their issues not being resolved”. I would not recommend this place at all.

Dad was transferred here for a Hail Mary. The nurses and doctors were are AMAZING. The treatment was like they were with their actual father. Nothing but kindness and compassion. The Transplant team and EVERYONE that worked with them deserve nothing but the best review.

Had a procedure at NWM Bluhm CV institute today. Everyone very professional and polite. Excellent communication from staff. Nursing staff very friendly. Prompt service. Validated parking at adjacent parking structure. Good signage in building. Would recommend.
