I had a great experience at Refocus Ophthalmology on Grant Avenue today. I was seen right on time with no waiting, and the staff was incredibly kind and professional. They made the entire visit pleasant and easy. I would highly recommend this office to anyone in need of quality eye care.

Front desk staff are helpful and all of the doctors are very personable. However, when I came in for my yearly eye exam, they took a co-pay for my vision insurance. The doctor then informed me at the end of the visit that since I only have vision in one eye, they considered this a medical appointment and would be charging my medical insurance instead. I did not receive my vision co-pay back and will likely need to dispute this with my medical carrier. This was not my first appointment. It was on file that I am only sighted in one eye. I was not told up front that this would be considered a medical visit; if I had been, I would have declined to continue care under this office, as I was not there regarding any complications with my non-sighted eye. No other optometrist I have seen previously has handled my insurance or congenital condition in this way. I can't help but find this practice deceptive, even if not intentionally so.

Crazy thing happened, I forgot to get a referral from my primary care physician. The young woman at the desk and I can't recall her name but she sits on the far right when facing the front desk,she has black hair. She had informed me to try and call the doctor's office to get a referral. During the time I was frantically trying to reach my doctor when she called over to me and said Mike I have them on the phone.
