Best decision I’ve made, highly recommend Optilase!
My journey with Optilase actually started over a year ago with a free consultation. Due to the curvature of my eyes I wasn’t eligible for LASIK, but rather than turn me away, the team referred my results to the surgeon for advice and recommended I return in 12 months to check my vision was stable. That level of care and thoroughness from the very start really set the tone.
A year later I came back, passed all the tests, and was approved for PRK. Every step of the process was explained clearly, the optician was precise and even gave practical tips like taking Omega 3 supplements to support recovery.
On the day of surgery (30th April), I was nervous, but the team were incredibly reassuring from the moment I walked in. There were multiple checks, a detailed pre-op conversation with the surgeon, and a video walkthrough of the aftercare drops. By the time I went in, I felt fully prepared. The procedure itself took less than 2 minutes, I felt nothing. The technology is seriously impressive.

I travelled to cork for PRK laser eye surgery.
The staff in both the Limerick and cork clinic are very professional and friendly. I was greeted with a very warm welcome on the day of my procedure. I am really looking forward to the start of my new life with my new eyes. The clinic was easy to locate and it was very hygienic. I was nervous on the day of the surgery but the staff reassured me. Thank you optilase for helping me see the world more clearly.
Close to five years ago, I visited Optilase because I was interested in lens-replacement treatment. At the time, I was told I was not yet eligible and should return in five years. I also recall being advised to obtain a new glasses prescription to possibly explore LASIK suitability, but I never pursued that as I had no interest in LASIK. I was also told that an email had been sent to me regarding this — I have checked thoroughly and found no such email.
Five years later, I returned specifically to revisit lens-replacement options, and the experience was shockingly poor. The same person who attended me previously carried out the consultation again, and their behaviour was so unpleasant and unnecessarily rude that I genuinely considered either challenging them or walking out. I still cannot believe I stayed for the full consultation given how disrespectful the interaction was. It became quite clear that this person was unhappy I had not returned for the glasses trial suggested years ago, and their attitude reflected this.
Frankly, it is shocking that anyone would think they can behave this way toward a patient and still expect that patient to return or proceed with treatment.
As a result, I chose not to undergo any treatment at Optilase. My boyfriend, who had been considering LASIK with your clinic, also decided not to proceed after witnessing the experience.
Because of this, I was effectively forced to research treatment abroad. Ultimately, we both underwent significantly more advanced procedures in London (EuroEyes) for the same overall cost. My boyfriend received SMILE Pro, and I underwent trifocal lens-replacement surgery (vs. multifocal at Optilase) — both carried out with a far higher standard of professionalism, technology, and patient care.
I recently got laser eye surgery. What a difference it has made! Dan O Brien was absolutely excellent. He was incredibly helpful and insightful. He took the time to explain everything thoroughly and patiently answered all of my questions, which really put me at ease. I felt very well looked after throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!
I got the refractive lens surgery in December and from my first appointment to the last post op appointment I was looked after with great care, and I would recommend this company to anyone
Finished LASIK eye surgery yesterday. Unbelievable how crystal clear next day was. Bit nervous on day, but staff put me right at ease. Very professional, Clean, fast. Definitely should got it done years ago..
