The staff are great. Though the parking is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. When you have pregnant women coming in with a worry, they are already highly stressed. I spent THIRTY minutes trying to park in that horrible car park, getting stuck as more cars entered while those of us already in the car park had no where to go. A maternity hospital is the LAST place you want this to happen. I cannot believe this has been deemed acceptable for so long. I had my first child in 2018, and have come back for multiple pregnancies since. Every… single… time… this has been an issue. Sometimes I had to park at the hotel further away. You need to fix this …it’s just so completely insane to me that this is happening in a city like Limerick, and nothing is being done! These poor nurses and midwives need more support as well. I waited two hours from my appointment time to be seen today.

One of the worst experiences my sister had from last week..very poor treatment because of their negligence she had to gone through another operation just after her c section last week Friday. No proper care no proper explanation it's like they are experimenting on her.still now she is in the hospital she couldn't hold her baby after giving birth to her..worst hospital worst management my sister could die because of their treatment.thats how they treat people.

Most of the staff are brilliant and try their best with what they have to work with. But honestly, it’s like giving birth in a 3rd world country. Place is so dated with little to no investment. It’s embarrassing to see the paint peeling off the doors for example. Some of the staff have a hostile attitude towards men, With cutting remarks and patronizing behaviour. My wife was also ridiculed by some of the staff. I don’t understand how some midwives treat vulnerable women with such contempt. The price of things in the ‘shop’ is absolute robbery. The parking is a solid disgrace, survival of the fittest. Double and triple parking Is the norm. Public vs private care? it’s the same difference. Don’t waste your money. You’re still in the same dated building with the same people. No matter how many staff are available, it never seems to be enough. You’ll wait for the doc or anaesthetist no matter what condition you’re in. Unfortunately, this can mean missing the epidural window and being refused. Which is all nonsense btw. It can be given earlier or later than they tell you if you press them harder for it. We resent that you have to fight for everything. It’s so unnecessary. Just help women out and give them what they ask for without the battle?.. midwives are fighting you not to take pain relief as if it’s coming out of their own pockets. Unbelievable. There doesn’t seem to be any protocol or consistency. It’s all very ad hoc. What one midwife will tell you to do will be contradicted by another. Women are left hanging way too long. And in the end, they usually take the C-section route anyway. WHO recommends 10-15% C-section rate. Ireland is one of the highest in the world at nearly 50%. Something is desperately wrong. And finally, the lack of information for first time parents is mind boggling. There were so many things we should have been told but info is not high on the agenda. But this is Ireland and we seem to have no problem settling for less ☘️

Lovely sonograpehers , there's a handful of midwives in the antenatal who are agressive "t" ... we all know who she is ,the mau is good .. I blame the post natal ward for me developing post partum anxiety a certain midwife made my life hell on m1and I developed panicl attacks after her aggressive treatment towards me, and the perinatal mental health isn't fit for purpose .would highly recommended going private if you can afford it.

I had the best care at limerick maternity hospital while pregnant and giving birth. I was a high risk patient and had amazing care from all doctors, consultants and midwives at the hospital. I had 2 midwives with me for my 9 hrs in the delivery suite, who didn't leave my side. It was Patience's first day at the hospital and her level of attention to me was unbelievable, gentle touch, getting a cold towel, positive affirmation (really all the little things) . Unfortunately I can't remember the names of the sister and other midwife but the crack was 90 the whole time. A highlight was the fact they helped me name my baby. In the end, I had pushed all I could push and required a vacuum assisted birth, and the two consultants that came were amazing. The person who physicallyndelivered my baby was a lovely south African man, who asked me "guess what" and when I thought I needed to push again, lifted up my tiny girl! The hospital where very respectful about my request to not have unnecessary checks due to traumatic events in the past and only checked me twice. I spent 5 days in the hospital as I had a birth injury and my baby was early. From the first appointment to leaving the hospital I had no faults. I wish I still lived in limerick so I could have future children there Thanks all!

Amazing staff delivered my twins in February. During my pregnancy and birth the staff were beyond expectations including the neonatal staff as one of my babies had to go there. I had a very positive experience here

From week 14 till week 40 (when our Baby was born) THE MIDWIVES and 1 doctor in particular, VERA, were absolutely incredible to say the least. They help and guided us to feel calm and relaxed (as much as 1st time parents can be) and at ease. VERA saw us at week 40 and said Sarah needs to be induced. She gave birth 2 days later. Everything went as well as it could thanks to you all. Our baby is happy and healthy and so is mommy. So Vera, Denise, Joan, all the midwives who helped us and our diabetic doctor, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being so good at what you do! We owe you all***
