We are deeply grateful to all the staff at Tallaght University Hospital for the incredible care they gave to our son during his treatment. Today he had his catheter removed, and everything went perfectly.
From the doctors to the nurses and all the staff, everyone treated us with kindness, professionalism, patience and genuine care during a very difficult time for our family. As parents, being far from our home country, this support meant even more to us.
The hospital, the organization, the attention and the human care were truly impeccable. We will never forget how well our son was treated here.
Thank you so much for everything. We highly recommend this hospital.
Absolute hell on earth and the utter degradation of medicine

If you want to spend the best 14 hours of your life sitting on a plastic chair surrounded by chaos, screaming, and indifference — welcome to the emergency room (A&E) of Tallaght Hospital! It's not a hospital, it's a survival zone.
What awaits you here:
Waiting forever: Came in sharp pain, ended up sitting in line for 13 HOURS. People are literally sleeping on the floor! Senior citizens, kids, no one cares. The triage (patient triage) system is broken completely. You may die, but anyone but you will be allowed in front of you.
Staff attitudes are through the floor: The receptionist and some nurses act like patients came to their homes uninvited and begging. Rudeness, eye rolls, and absolute, icy indifference. Any question has one answer: 'Wait.' How long can we wait? Who should we wait for? No one knows.
Invisible Doctors: When you finally (miraculously!) You get to the doctor, they examine you in two minutes, prescribe paracetamol, and throw you outside without even trying to figure out the cause of the symptoms. Misdiagnoses seem to be the norm here.
Conditions like a Victorian prison: dirt in the toilets, unsanitary conditions, lack of gurneys. If they do decide to hospitalize you, be prepared to spend a couple of days in the hallway, because there are never any beds in the wards.
Bottom line: The worst medical experience of my life. Management should be ashamed of what they've turned this place into. You should only go there if you have iron health and endless nerves. If you can, run to any other hospital, you'll be safer!
I want to give a big shout out to all the nurses who support children ward and A/E. My 21m old arrived with severe infection, he was looked after very diligently . All the nurses and doctors made sure that we are informed and the right treatment is provided to the child. A big thank you to all the nurses( including all the student nurses) especially nurse Kristeen❤️ in Maple ward and Dr Marwan, and his supportive staff who briefed every detail, took corrective action on time. I hope you all know what a difference you'll are makingin someone else life. Thank you again and Keep up the good work.
I attended the Emergency Department at Tallaght University Hospital twice due to severe abdominal pain, continuous vomiting and diarrhea lasting several days.
On my first visit, I was advised to return if my symptoms worsened. My condition did worsen significantly, so I returned as instructed.
During my second visit, I waited approximately 14 hours in the corridor in extreme pain, vomiting and with ongoing diarrhea. Despite clearly explaining my symptoms, I was repeatedly told that my case was “not urgent” and that other patients needed help more than I did. I was the last person to be seen, even after many patients who arrived after me.
When I finally saw the doctor, only blood tests were performed. I was told that my blood results were “better than yesterday” and I was questioned about why I had come back.
I explained that I was still vomiting, had ongoing diarrhea and severe abdominal pain, but I was told that I was “okay” and that nothing more could be done for me, except possibly giving me painkillers — which I had already been taking at home.
No urine test and no stool test were taken, despite several days of diarrhea and vomiting.
I left feeling dismissed, unheard and unsupported.
Out of fear for my life, I travelled back to my home country the same day. There, doctors immediately performed further investigations and diagnosed me with a urinary infection, intestinal infection and Helicobacter pylori. I was informed that untreated, these infections could have become very serious.
I am deeply disappointed by the lack of proper assessment, basic investigations and empathy during my second visit. No patient with ongoing vomiting, diarrhea and severe abdominal pain should be told they are “okay” and sent home without proper tests.
This experience was frightening and traumatic, and I sincerely hope improvements will be made so that other patients do not go through the same ordeal.
My mam recently stayed in the Clinical Decision Unit and was treated very well by the nurses. She wanted to give a special thanks to Cassidy, Pinky, Saoirse, Shilpa, Jini and Rojimol for their kindness and taking care of her well during her stay. She said they made her feel like she was at home and the nurses created a lovely atmosphere.

I am pregnant and they didn't care. I was left for 6 hours without a doctor consultation. My case was a high risk of ovaria estinulation and I just decided to go home, because being pregnant awaiting for long hours is unhealthy for me. I will never come back to this hospital anymore. They don't care you. They do the opposite of care. Shouldn't be named as hospital..
I am extremely disappointed with the conditions in the A&E department at Tallaght Hospital. The lack of resources is unacceptable, and patients are being left to suffer for hours on end. On average, waiting 15 hours just to see a doctor is not only unreasonable, it is inhumane.
This is not just a delay; it feels like mental torture. Patients who are already in pain, distress, or fear are forced to sit in overcrowded conditions with little to no communication or support. It gives the impression that patient care is not a priority.
There is a serious systemic failure here, and it raises concerns about how healthcare is being managed at a government level. Taxpayers contribute significantly, yet the service provided falls far below what people deserve. Patients should never be made to feel like they are being ignored or treated as insignificant.
Urgent action is needed to address staffing shortages, improve efficiency, and restore dignity to patient care. No one should have to endure such conditions when seeking medical help.
