I had my surgery with Dr. kabir syed and my experience was very positive. from the first consultation he made me feel calm and confident throughout the entire process. On the day of the surgery , he and his team were very professional and attentive. The procedure went very well and i felt well cared for at all times . A huge thank you to my surgeon Kabir syed and his entire team for the wonderful and amazing experience i had .I was , ofcourse , very nervous and scared but Lee one of his team member made me calm and feel safe and reassured me before my surgery. Dr.kabir syed was the first person who found out i had gallston pancreatitis, he done my ultrasound and mrcp . i am so glad he done my surgery. He's well experienced and knowledgeable. Also , I have two month old baby and he allowed me to go home to look after my childrens while i was admitted in the hospital. if i could give 5000 stars , I would ! I met three to four surgeons in ( sacu ward ) and i noticed they all have been very informative , experienced , knowledgeable and professional. Also , huge thank you to ( ward 11 )his entire staff for the wonderful and amazing experience i had . The nurses , carers , students and kitchen staff of ward 11 extremely kind , caring and respectful to me . Always smiling and gracious . Brilliant communication. Some were excellent especially Chris , Shola and sakeeza . they all deserve gold medals. i was admitted twice ward 11 and i took great care from all of them . Five stars to them , Thank you my surgeon kabir Syed .

I’ve just come home after having pulmonary emboli, plus clots in my stomach, femoral artery and chest . I was initially assessed by SDEC. The staff were absolutely beautiful - so kind and so caring . I was later transferred to AMU where I was overwhelmed by the dedication and the kindness of the nurses, the porters , the ward sisters. Next day I was moved to Ward 4. I stayed for 5 days , one of those days was my birthday . The nurses were angels , they sang happy birthday to me, moved my bed to a bay next to the window so I was cooler. I can’t remember the names if everyone who cared for me but Happiness, Precious, Mercy and Busayo showed me such compassion , such kindness, professionalism and consideration that I felt safe and cared for. They epitomised what nursing should be, nothing was too much trouble , they gave me the utmost care. I simply can’t put into words how beautiful these nurses were. The ladies who brought food, drinks , cleaned … each and every one of them was kindness personified. The staff who scanned me, the ones in CT, the porters … without exception were compassionate and did their very best to reassure and comfort me . The only people who weren’t especially helpful were doctors ( with the exception of a beautiful Asian doctor in ward 4 who took time to answer my concerns and give results of my numerous medical procedures - she was lovely ). A week before I was admitted a doc in A&E decided that the DVT I knew I had was possibly the result of my psoriasis !! I was sent home with blood thinners. A week later when I was finally scanned , the clots had moved into my lungs, my stomach and my chest - quite simply I could have died. That evening a doctor refused to confirm a DVT without a scan - I’d been scanned twice already! For some reason I’d taken a photo of my notes which confirmed the DVTs. The doctor dismissed me by saying she had my notes and no where did it say I’d had the DVT confirmed . Fortunately my sister was with me and pointed out EXACTLY where the notes confirmed I’d ‘ tested positive for DVTs’ . No apology from doctor . She had my notes but clearly hadn’t bothered to read them properly ( and it was only a short paragraph so not reams of paperwork ). The following day another doctor told me I had ‘ a clot ‘. By then I’d had a third scan and a nurse had confirmed the pulmonary embolism and the numerous clots in my stomach as she’d read my notes. So I questioned the singular clot - and was then told yes there were many - the ones in my lungs were indeed ‘concerning’ . The next day mum ( who is my fiercest advocate ) was reassured by a doctor I would have a temporary care package at home ( I have other underlying chronic conditions - M.E/CFS and fibromyalgia- which severely limit my mobility ) , I would see a physio to arrange exercises which would be specially tailored to take account if my M.E, and that I would be issued a mobility aid to help me move about. The next day when I asked the doctor for confirmation I was told basically that my chronic illness was all in my head ( I’d been diagnosed 17 years earlier by a neurologist 🤷‍♀️) , social care wasn’t her remit, physio wasn’t something they’d offer as “ only YOU can make yourself better . You MUST exercise more “ and when I cried ( mainly out of frustration ) I was told I’d be referred to a “psychiatrist “ as I was “clearly depressed”. I asked if doc knew about the limitations of M.E / CFS and that my body quite simply doesn’t make energy . That the N.I.C.E guidelines specifically advised against G.E.T ( Graded Exercise Therapy ) as it has a massively detrimental impact on my recovery . I actually felt like a hysterical female in a Victorian melodrama . I ended up feeling like a fat lazy waste of space . In fact it was the ward sister who sorted out my care package in the end. In conclusion - if only the doctors looked to the exemplary practice of their nurses the whole system would be far more efficient and patient orientated . The nurse showed exemplary duty of care - I’m not sure the doctors were really bothered .

If i could give less i absolutely would. Most of the staff seem lovely, do their job when in the room & often do go above and beyond, but the system and the communication is absolutely appalling, there's no safeguarding whatsoever for disabled adults, they sent my mother home after a stroke in a taxi cab without contacting her N.O.K & seemingly tried to do it again after she had a seizure. Had this taxi driver felt he was in a position of power, we would not have even known she'd left the hospital as they are impossible to contact, the extension lines for the wards are busy for 10+ hours.

I know the NHS gets a lot of stick. I once worked for the nhs and understand how the cuts, austerity and privatisation are disseminating it, I also read about the struggles of ppl in countries like the USA that have to pay for private healthcare, without knowing all of this it’s easy to not understand our privilege here. I stayed in ward 23 gynaecology, and cannot fault the service I revived or what I was given. I priced up the same service for private healthcare and it would have been at least 2.5k. The nurses and doctors were overloaded but kept apologising when they came to me later than expected, I felt I was treated with care, the meals were nice (reminded me of school dinners lol) 3 per day is amazing , the only thing that wasn’t great is that my treatment started just after or before midnight (trying to remember now) when I had been there from 11am that morning, in various departments, which meant I had to stay awake. This meant I had regular hourly observations through the night, great for safety, not so great for sleep. Again I see the as a consequence of constant cuts, we can’t keep cutting funding, increasing privatisation (which in reality means profit and streamlining comes before care and patients and service); then expect the staff remaining to still do the work of the other staff that have been cut. I had a moan but I understand. Superman / woman only exists in films. A special thanks to those that treated me and were involved in my care as I’m sure they do not get enough praise for what they do. Dr Anwar, Fran, Millie, Regina, Lisa, Emily - thank you, I did not get the names of three women who performed my scan but again, their warmth and empathy did not go unnoticed. The consultant that later went on to perform a procedure explained everything in easy detail to me , this was confirmed repeatedly that I understood what was happening. Much of the hospital is also new, the wards are warm, and not that big but also with private rooms, there are various cafes and shops on the grounds, and it is easy to access via public and private transport. My experience was that I would recommend this hospital for gyne treatment. So I only have pictures of the meals not the ward lol

I was slapped by a nurse, called stupid by another nurse, denied food, denied medication and experienced restriction of movement. After a few days, I discharged myself because I felt unsafe, and went to a different hospital. After experiencing care at a different hospital, I realised the Manor’s bad practices are exclusive to them, if you want good care and to be treated with dignity and respect avoid ‘The Hospital of Death.’

I was kind enough to give the manor one star. After my gp was extremely worried about my health and told my husband to take me straight to hospital. I was only in a& e a short while and was in a cubicle in majors almost straight away, although they made me walk which I was struggling to stand. 9 hours on the most uncomfortable bed I've ever been on. My first nurse was polite, and told me what was happening, she took bloods and I had an X-ray, but then came shift change. Lovely polite man, but I never saw him! The cubicles over from me were having 1/2 hourly obs, I'm lucky if I saw my nurse half a dozen times all night. I literally had to get out of bed and ask for pain killers as I had a headache. Next morning, absolutely lovely nurse, Marie ( funny how you remember the name of the great nurses), she was attentive and chatted with me. The young Dr came in and checked me over and said kidney infection, but then his senior joined him, who was very rude and ordered an enema and CT scan. He asked me why I was in the hospital?!!! Marie talked me through everything and was kind and gentle even when administering enema. The CT scan was vile, but staff were great. I was then moved to amu, onto a comfortable bed. The first set of staff were lovely, but again shift change, obs done regularly but very minimal verbal communication. A doctor came and said that he'd seen something on my liver and I needed an MRI, never had one. Rude Dr and junior Dr did rounds in the morning, checked me over and said you can go home. Junior Dr said chest infection but I was never told what I was diagnosed with. 5 hours in the discharge suite, absolutely lovely ladies there, looked after me and my husband. It was only when I received my medicine and paperwork did I find out that I had pneumonia and severe pancreatitis. Not anyone in that hospital gave me a proper answer or diagnosis. In this day and age is a conversation about our health no longer important. Just ship out and find out later, if at all. It's a shame, but some other departments can deliver but emergency medicine is in a extremely poor state.

My mother was suffering from nausea, dizziness, losing feeling in her arms and legs, pins and needles all over her arms and face, episodes of shortness of breath and severe chest pain. She lost control over her bathroom habits and lived with constant embarrassment. For almost 3 years she was being passed around from doctor to doctor and they all pumped her full of pain medication and then sent her home saying tests were clear and there was nothing wrong with her. A year after they'd been saying notbing was wrong she was rushed in for emergency surgery to remove her gall bladder, after finding over 20 stones.. She was told she was fine after that, once she'd recovered she would be okay because that was the only problem. Nope, a whole year and the pain and episodes only got worse. Multiple tests, being poked amd proved and pumped full of more pain meds while being told theres nothing they can do because there isnt anything wrong with her. Two and a half years being told shes fine and nothings wrong. She couldnt even function.. Another 6 months later and on Wednesday at 10am she was rushed in again, oh no the doctors tests came back clear but the nice woman was willing to try and get to the bottom of it and ordered an MRI. Gave her morphine, cocodamol and paracetamol in a drip and then sent her home at 1am Thursday morning. My mom was cold, shaking, couldnt get warm to save her life. Threw up everything she tried to eat and just gave up and went to bed. Friday morning she was up from 4 till 6 being sick, still freezing and in so much pain she wanted to give up. She took her puppy out for a walk and then came in to go back to bed at 7am. Id been staying up for months incase she needed me in the night because people checked on her during the day, and then id sleep all day so I could get back up for my night shift of looking after her. So I woke up at 7pm to multiple texts and calls asking if she was okay because no one had heard off her all day and she had plans to see them. I went through to wake her up per her partners request and I found her passed away. I had to bury my mother at 17 and a half years of age because the manor kept saying there wasnt anything wrong. Coroners report got back, she was living with an undiagnosed heart condition and for the last 3 years she was in heart failure and her body was shutting down. Our whole family had to watch her deteriorate till the point of her death. I dont get how they never bothered to check her heart after all her symptoms pointed towards a heart condition, she'd been hooked up to machines to monitor her blood pressure and heart rate during her surgery prior so why no one found out is a mystery. Why no one bothered to listen to her and check anything but her stomach i will not know but im am disgusted by the way she was treated and handled. When someone was finally willing to help it was too late.. So if they treat you or your family the same, please get seen at another hospital who will actually listen. I cant thank the ones who tried to help her or were nice to her enough, but the ones who just dismissed her dont deserve to be a doctor, all those years of studying seem to be for nothing.

2 stars is being very lenient. I read most the reviews and agreed with them. I’ve been at the hospital since 4pm and it’s almost 11:30pm and not a single doctor has come and spoke to us. I came to a and e with my grandma and have just been moved from one cubicle to another. The thing is, I can see not just this happening with my grandma, but the patients next to her in other cubicles. When will manor hospital fix this? I believe this is a question everyone wants to ask.
