I've been using this Walk-In Centre with my daughter for around six years now, and honestly, I don't understand why the rating is only 3 stars.
Whenever we have a health issue that can't wait, or when it's difficult to get help from our GP, this place has always been there for us. Every single time we've visited, we've been treated with kindness, professionalism and genuine care.
For example, when my daughter had an infected toenail, they assessed her, provided treatment, and within a few days she was much better. Most recently, she developed an ear infection while we were away. We came here, waited around 30-60 minutes, were seen by lovely healthcare professionals, and she was prescribed antibiotics straight away.
The staff are always friendly, knowledgeable and reassuring. I never leave feeling dismissed. I leave feeling that the problem has been taken seriously and that we have a clear plan.
As a parent, especially with a child, that peace of mind is invaluable.
To be completely honest, compared with many GP experiences I've had over the years, this Walk-In Centre is outstanding. I would happily give it 5+ stars if I could.
Thank you to everyone working here. You have helped my family many times, and I would highly recommend this service to anyone, especially parents with young children.
Went in as I have a new type of headache and saw the triage nurse who was fine and then waited another 2 1/2 hours (3 hours altogether) just for the doctor to say they can’t deal with chronic illnesses (I have post concussion syndrome) and I literally had to beg him to at least check my eyes to ensure they were fine. He didn’t try anything apart from that, just said to see my GP after I explained my symptoms. He seemed rude too, not caring at all.
Unprofessional Conduct and Patient Care Concern
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding my recent experience at the walk-in clinic, which caused me significant emotional distress and worsened my existing medical and mental health concerns.
From the outset, I felt the reception interaction was unprofessional and lacked basic patient dignity. During the handling of my medical information, I observed non-verbal behaviour that I perceived as dismissive and condescending, including raised eyebrows and gestures that made me feel uncomfortable and undermined. This added to my anxiety, particularly given I was already unwell and under stress. I also felt that my medical history was not handled with appropriate sensitivity, and I was required to repeatedly explain my condition verbally, which raised concerns for me regarding confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
Overall, I felt unsupported and not treated with the level of respect and care expected in a healthcare environment.
After waiting for several hours, I was seen by a clinician who did not introduce themselves and proceeded directly to typing on a computer while asking questions, with minimal eye contact. I did not feel properly listened to or engaged with as a patient. When I asked questions regarding my medication, I was given very limited explanation about its purpose or usage, which left me feeling uncertain and unsafe about the treatment provided.
The consultation felt rushed and impersonal, and I was provided with a printed prescription without adequate explanation or opportunity for discussion. This experience left me feeling dismissed and concerned about the quality of care provided.
As a result of this visit, I experienced significant mental distress, frustration, and a worsening of my overall wellbeing. Given my current medical condition, I expected a more compassionate, respectful, and communicative approach.
I respectfully request that this incident is reviewed seriously, including:
Staff communication and patient interaction standards
Handling of patient information and GDPR compliance in reception areas
Clinical communication and informed consent practices
Waiting time and patient experience management
My intention in raising this is not to cause unnecessary conflict, but to ensure that patient dignity, safety, and professionalism are upheld consistently for all individuals accessing care at this facility.
I would appreciate a formal response outlining how this will be addressed and what steps will be taken to prevent similar experiences in future
First time visiting a walk-in centre with my mum on Saturday, 23 May, and we had a great experience. The service provided by both the triage nurse and the GP was excellent, professional, caring, and efficient throughout. Thank you to all the team for making the visit so reassuring.
We also received a happy birthday message from the triage nurse which made the visit even more special for my mum.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use the service again in the future.
Rang 111 and they got me appointment at this very busy clinic they were right on time with my appointment and the doctor i saw was kind and understanding the staff are all very nice and there are various vending machines lot of seating situated in the heart of the city but you can drive to it which is a big help various parking spots on the road next to it very busy clinic but even if there is a wait I think its so good to be able to see a doctor
I would like to leave a sincere thank you to the team at this walk in centre. I arrived in a lot of pain and quite worried about what was happening, and from the moment I walked in I was treated with kindness, professionalism and genuine care. Even though my English is not perfect, the staff were patient, attentive and made sure I felt understood and supported at all times.
The medical team carried out a careful initial assessment and quickly ruled out other possibilities such as haemorrhoids. Thanks to their attention and efficiency, they identified that I needed further treatment and arranged a referral to the hospital straight away. This meant I did not have to repeat the entire process again, and when I arrived at the hospital I was already expected and able to be treated quickly. This made an enormous difference during a moment when I was in severe pain and feeling very anxious.
I am very grateful for the professionalism, empathy and efficiency shown by everyone at this centre. Being treated with such respect and care, especially while far from my home country, meant a great deal to me. Thank you for your dedication and for providing such compassionate and organised care.
A praiseworthy service. I am a visitor to Sheffield and was dreading seeking medical attention when I started to feel generally unwell. I attended at 4PM on a weekday, and was triaged, seen and sorted within 90 mins. I could not have had such an exceptional experience at home even if I was on death's door and had an appointment with my registered GP. The walk-in option is truly fantastic and every staff member was kind, patient and professional. I just can't believe that this is also the same NHS. Makes me want to come to Sheffield any time I have a medical issue now!
My wife and I wanted to share a massive thank you to Lisa at the Sheffield Walk-in Centre. We brought our 2-year-old son, Noah, in today and Lisa was simply incredible with him.
Taking a sick toddler to the doctor can be so stressful for parents, but Lisa made Noah feel completely at ease right away. She was so attentive and thorough, carrying out all the necessary checks and providing an immediate diagnosis that gave us both so much peace of mind.
Lisa, thank you again from both of us for being so brilliant, empathetic, and professional. You are a credit to your profession and we truly need more doctors like you! We are so grateful for the care you showed our son.
