I would like to share my birth experience at North Manchester General Hospital.
I was admitted for induction at 11:00 in the morning on the 9th of October, as I was already one week overdue. At first, everything was very good. A midwife who I believe was still in training – a very young lady – took care of me. She was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive. She looked after me very well and everything felt calm and positive.
Things started to change after the shift change.
Around 8pm I started having quite frequent contractions. At first I decided to monitor them and not disturb anyone immediately since they had only just started. By 9pm they had become regular, and by 10pm they were strong and consistent. Earlier, when a midwife had checked my dilation, she said I was only 2 cm dilated.
Around 10pm I pressed the call button and asked the staff member who came if she could please inform the midwife that my contractions were very frequent. She said she would let her know. However, more than an hour passed and the midwife did not come. I eventually had to press the call button again.
When they finally came, I told them I felt like my waters were leaking. At first they seemed to think it wasn’t serious and that perhaps I was exaggerating, but eventually it became clear that my waters had indeed broken.
While I was in significant pain and telling them I felt like I was about to give birth, someone came to tell my husband that it was 12 o’clock and visiting hours were over. Thankfully, my husband refused to leave until he knew everything was okay, otherwise he would have missed the birth of our baby.
Eventually someone came from downstairs to take me to the delivery room. Unfortunately, the midwife there seemed very bored and quite dismissive. I was lucky that the assistant with her was very attentive and kind.
Because of the pain, I physically couldn’t lie down. The only positions I could manage were standing or on all fours. The midwife responded in a very cold and arrogant way, saying that if I didn’t lie down for her to check me, she could simply refuse to examine me because she wasn’t going to force me.
In the end I managed somehow to lie down briefly so she could check. Only then did she realise that the baby’s head was already visible. At that moment I could clearly see her attitude change, because until then it felt like she believed I was exaggerating my pain.
If my husband hadn’t been with me, and if this had happened after midnight when visiting hours ended, I believe I might have given birth alone in the ward, as no midwives came for more than an hour while I was in active labour.
I am not writing this to complain or to gain anything from it. I simply want to raise awareness. Ten years ago I gave birth to my first daughter at the same hospital and my experience then was wonderful, with very warm and supportive staff.
Unfortunately, this time the experience left me feeling quite disappointed and cold.
Excellant staff & service at the breast clinic this week. All of the staff (receptionist, nurse practioner, radiographers and support staff) friendly, kind, respectful, professional & knowledgeable. Thank you
The sleep clinic never answer the phone, This isn't a joke!!. Your patients need your help so answer the phone!!. If you can't be bothered or don't want to do your job the get another job. Patients need to seen and taken seriously. I have been calling for 1 week with no answer. It's a joke!!. A total failure or a department!!
This has been pecking my head but now I realise I needed to write a review.
When my grandad Jack went into hospital both times. He was looked after brilliantly. As I have become older I look back and I notice they have followed their training. They delivered excellent customer service. I highly recommend the team that looked after grandad Jack on both wards because he came home safe.
Also I cant find the company that looked after my grandad I want to say thank you for doing your best to look after him.
On, Tuesday, the hottest day for many years, I underwent dialysis at the Hexagon in a room without air conditioning. It was very unpleasant indeed. I shall undergo dialysis again on Thursday. Please do something to get the air conditioning switched on.
We spent most of the day yesterday in A&E with my elderly mother and I can honestly say that the care we were all given was above and beyond what we had expected - everyone involved in her care was so kind, caring and helpful. Special family circumstances meant that it was important for us to get mum home as soon as possible and that was achieved - thank you so much to all the staff we encountered KH
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!
This hospital is the worst place on earth, you are basically walking to your death if you go here

My mum was sent home 8 hours later after experiencing excruciating pain from her abdomen. The supposed "doctors" concluded that they are unsure of what it could be and prescribed gas relief medication instead despite blood results being horrific🙄 Turns out my mum was bleeding internally from her liver and these doctors and nurses failed to realise this until my mum was in a life threatening condition. Even then, we waited another 9 hours until they actually realised my mum's condition was not normal.
This hospital is full of nurses and doctors who never know whats wrong with patients. Whats the point of being a hospital if you can't even treat patients properly. They do not care if you're in pain, they care more about their lunch break. They leave patients to scream and cry in pain in the waiting room and assume that they are overreacting.
If you want urgent, proper care I would suggest MRI. They are very fast and efficient and definitely do not prescribe gas relief for internal bleeding and life threatening conditions!
Sometimes in January we visited the UTC, my wife was pregnant and in a lot pain , headache.
midwifery sent us there for urgent treatment , the two lady at the receptionist were actually mistaken work place with coffe shop, they were doing everything but the job they were assigned to.
Smirking - giggling and when approached by patients, they were actually rude.
They were favouring other patient by sending them in first , when I objected they said okay next is you.
This was just a warm up!!
I was sitting by the door and I could see hallway with a side door to dr room from there.
There were a docor in the hallway and I could see him, this Dr was flirting with his family friends while relaxed leaning on the wall!!!
For 25 minutes he was asking about every single dead and alive person within his friend hood circle from the other guy.
Finally he is a satisfied and kissed his mate goodbye
This is just a warm up!!
Two minutes later same dr called us in- he apologised saying I was with a patient explaining a tough situation.
(He didn’t know I was all seeing all knowing all hearing )
My wife 8 month + pregnant.
Now the serious part starts
After asking few questions, he said she can take cocodamol 200 or something l like it.
I asked if it’s safe
He said - it’s your risk !!!!!!
Can you believe that !!!
But again he said - I recommend it!!!
I asked him can you prescribe it !!!
He said no!!!!
To my suprise I left
Went to pharmacy- this guy said you can kill your wife or your baby if anything goes wrong with this medication.
He explained - if dr recommended it not prescribed - how can you proof it was him!!
He was right.
You see, this dr still practicing.
No body cares
It’s not only this hospital - it’s nationwide
