Worst experience I've ever had at Newham Hospital. This is what the emergency means- The queue was extremely long, and I waited more than 6 hours to be seen, only to be told to take paracetamol. To make matters worse, the doctor gave me incorrect information and I had to book another appointment on the same day. I then waited another 4 hours for the second appointment. The entire day was wasted sitting in waiting rooms, only to receive unhelpful answers and no proper treatment. Very disappointing service and a complete waste of time.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for Mrs. Prisca from the recovery department at Gateway Surgical Newham. I rated her 5 stars for the exceptional care I received during my knee replacement surgery. She demonstrated an admirable level of professionalism, provided excellent customer service, and effectively engaged with her patients. Her understanding of her responsibilities and her compassionate approach truly stood out. Thank you very much, Mrs. Prisca, for your outstanding support in the recovery unit at Gateway Surgical Newham. I am thoroughly impressed with your work. Best regards, Kriss Anyaogu

Never bring your child or yourself here unless you want staff to treat your child crying as tantrum when my child was in a lot of pain crying instead of helping the staffs said we will put u in the main waiting room if you don’t stop I have been telling the staffs that she is in pain and having anxiety panic attack they said no it’s tantrum how can they judge and say it’s a tantrum when I know my child I know when my child is normal and fine and when she’s not and in pain and wait time was over 5 hours they said 5 hours then went up to 7 hours and apparently they said only one doctor is on site. With my child constant unsettle crying feeling not cared for we unfortunately had to leave the hospital. So never bring yourself or child here unless you wanna be laughed at the staffs.

Mixed experience honestly. E and D department is packed with patients, main problem is waiting time more than 7.5 hours. I went at 8:20 pm, finished my checkup after 4am. Insane. For emergency cases waiting this long makes everyone more tired and frustrated, you can literally see it on people's faces. On the positive side Dr Berhanu is fine, he explained my issue nicely and was friendly. But the waiting system really needs fixing.

I am impressed by cleaning standards at the hospital. The A&E experience was horrible but we were kept well informed so I can’t complain about wait time of 4 hours. Apart from that, we always had positive experiences whenever we visited the maternity wards for scans, emergency scans and scheduled appointments. Overall, the assistants, receptionists were quite helpful and shows remarkable patience. Kudos to entire staff.

Our experience at Newham University Hospital during delivery was very disappointing. We waited several days with little communication or regular medical review. When a midwife or a doctor says I am coming back in 5min which mean more than a hour. The long delays and uncertainty made an already stressful time much harder. I understand staff are under pressure. Based on our experience, I would advise others to carefully consider their options for delivery. It is a total sucks place

We live in Stratford, so Newham Hospital was our local hospital for pregnancy and delivery. Initially, we were a bit reluctant because of some of the reviews we had read online. However, our actual delivery experience completely exceeded our expectations. My partner started having regular contractions around midnight, and we arrived at the hospital at around 1:00 am. We were seen by a midwife within 20 minutes, and within about an hour and a half we were given our own room. The room was clean, comfortable, and even had a comfy sofa for me :) From the very beginning, there was always a midwife with us, and every single one of them was kind, calm, and professional. When my partner decided to have an epidural, the anaesthetist took the time to explain everything clearly what would happen, how she would feel, and what to expect which was very reassuring. By around 1:00 pm she was fully dilated and ready to push. During delivery there were about six or seven doctors and midwives present, which made us feel very safe and supported. Our baby was quite large (4.2 kg), and there were some complications, but the medical team handled everything extremely well and professionally. After the birth, we were transferred to another ward where we stayed for one night, and then to a different section where we stayed for two more nights. Throughout our stay, the care remained excellent. We are genuinely very happy and grateful for the care we received at Newham Hospital. The midwives, doctors, and staff were supportive, professional, and compassionate at every stage. Thank you to everyone at Newham Hospital for taking such good care of us and helping us bring our baby safely into the world.

If you enjoy being given an appointment time purely for decorative purposes, this is absolutely the place for you. There’s nothing quite like sitting around for hours wondering why you even bothered booking in the first place. And if being ignored or treated like an inconvenience is your thing, you’ll feel right at home. The staff have truly mastered the art of looking like they’d rather be anywhere else while simultaneously avoiding eye contact at all costs. To be fair, there are a few genuinely good nurses, doctors, and even receptionists—but finding them feels less like healthcare and more like winning the lottery.
