EMA Patient Transport recently attended Homerton Hospital mortuary as part of a specialist transfer recovery, supporting the careful and respectful movement of a passed loved one.
From arrival, the environment was calm, well managed and handled with professionalism. The team were supportive and understanding, ensuring the process was carried out with the dignity and care that these moments require.
Everything was well organised, allowing for a smooth and respectful transfer, with clear communication throughout.
Overall, a professional and reassuring experience during a very sensitive time.
Extremely disappointed with the service today. We had a surgery appointment scheduled for 11:00 AM and arrived on time, only to be left waiting for over five hours with little to no communication about the delay. At around 4:00 PM, we were finally informed that the procedure could not be carried out because there were too many patients.
We understand that hospitals can be busy and emergencies happen, but keeping patients waiting for hours only to cancel their appointment is unacceptable. The lack of organisation, communication, and consideration for patients’ time was very frustrating. A much better system is needed to keep patients informed and avoid unnecessary waiting.
Had my gynaecological laparoscopy on the 19th of may in the morning and let me tell you, I was panicking! However, the medical staff were absolutely amazing. (Can’t remember names as I was really panicked that day and constantly crying, I’m really sorry). The nurses were extremely helpful, very caring and patient. (I put the surgery gown the wrong way twice and they helped me get it on properly, it was really sweet). The anaesthesiologist and surgeon explained everything in details beforehand and were very nice, I truly appreciated it! There was also a guy,Asian, in his 20s, a nurse I believe (I forgot the name and job role, I’m truly sorry) that made my time before and after surgery a lot easier and helped me calm down from crying and panicking. On the way to the anaesthetic room he was talking to me and explained what will happen and really made me feel at ease. When I woke up from surgery, he came to me and told me that everything was great and help calm me down as I was very confused. Came later in the recovery room and asked how I was feeling which was very kind. The nurse taking care of me (Alice I believe) was very nice, she helped me go to the bathroom, gave me orange juice and food and checked on me whenever I needed something and helped answer my silly questions. It was my first ever surgery and I can say that everyone was amazing. I thought this was going to be traumatic but it was actually a lot lot better than what I imagined and I am grateful to have met such amazing and kind people! I do apologise once again for forgetting names and job roles but I was very distressed and not focusing at all.. that’s why I tried to mention the day, timing and department so the review team knows who I’m talking about! Thank you everyone!
We are extremely disappointed and distressed by the treatment our 8-month-old baby has received at Homerton Hospital.
Our child has been hospitalised for more than four days with bronchiolitis, yet we feel that no proper attention or urgency has been given to his condition. During this entire time, the only treatment provided has been paracetamol — something we could easily buy ourselves at Tesco without having to go through the stress and emotional pain of being in hospital.
One of the most frustrating parts of this experience is the complete lack of continuity in care. Every time a different doctor comes to see our baby, we are forced to explain the entire story again because nobody seems to properly know what is happening with his case. There appears to be poor communication between staff and no clear treatment plan.
We also experienced unacceptable delays for basic investigations, including waiting several days for an X-ray. As parents, watching our baby suffer while feeling ignored and unheard has been heartbreaking.
We believe this situation deserves a formal investigation. The system needs improvement, communication needs improvement, and the quality of care for children and patients in general must improve. No parent should feel this helpless while their baby is in hospital.
We sincerely hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously and makes meaningful changes for future patients and families.
I would like to share my experience during my mums time on Lloyd Ward. The Nurses and Doctors, especially Dr Nora Elena were amazing and really did set a fantastic example of exemplary care for the elderly.
My Mums pain was managed so well and staff on every shift was nothing but attentive to her needs, my mum described every member of staff of every grade as Angel's! Forever grateful to Lloyd ward. You are all a credit to the NHS and a shining example of patient centred care!
I had an extraordinary experience. I arrived at the hospital in the early morning of December 7th at 5 a.m., in severe labour pain, and I was taken into care quite quickly.
Ms Agang was with me and took wonderful care of me : she monitored me, supported me and encouraged me throughout. Even though her shift ended at 8 a.m., when she came back on the evening shift she made a point of coming to check on me, to see if I was well and how everything had gone. This was such a kind and genuinely human gesture, which I deeply appreciated.
I was offered pain relief (it was already included in my birth plan, but I was still asked and given a choice). The anaesthetist arrived very quickly, and the procedure was fast and not very painful. I am extremely grateful to everyone who looked after me and encouraged me during such an important moment.
From 8 a.m., Ms Tinah took care of me throughout the entire day, together with a student midwife whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, but who was absolutely wonderful. Both of them monitored me closely, guided me and continuously reassured me that everything was progressing perfectly. Thanks to their support, I had the most beautiful and smooth birth experience. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their kindness and professionalism.
After the birth, I was seen and checked multiple times by doctors and midwives. At 2 a.m. I needed some help with breastfeeding, and I received immediate support. The following day at lunchtime, after our baby was fully checked, we were allowed to go home.
Short and simple:
After been hitted by a van on my right side, hitted my head, flew in the air and landed on the floor and I couldn't walk properly. I'm 163 cm tall and weight 60 kg. The doctor Colin Wittford attend me and said no need for any scan etc. Of course I was given paracetamol and Ibrupofen, which if there is internal bleeding it is better not to take it. After begged for at least an ultrasound which is not an extensive exam, and I clearly said that I would have prefered to have all the exam as I'm alone at home. Dr. Colin said:" why are you trying to find problems? Be greatful to be still alive." Thanks Dr.Colin to be so professional. Now I have to visit another hospital. AVOID.
My mum was admitted twice to this hospital. Firstly with leg infection secondly after heart attack. Staff and Dr's all fabulous although little skeptical with patients and visitors using same toilets I cant fault this hospital. Cardiology ward were really good and when she was in last year with leg infection staff were good. As an NHS worker myself I am greatful that my mum had good care. Keep up the good work Homerton hospital staff support workers and Dr's on wards.
