I can’t recommend First Encounters enough! We’ve visited for both a secret gender reveal scan and a 4D scan, and both experiences were absolutely wonderful.
Everything is very well organised from start to finish, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The sonographers really take their time during the scans, talk you through everything they’re seeing, and make sure you feel comfortable and involved throughout. We never felt rushed, which made such a difference during such a special time.
A special mention to the gentleman on reception, who was so welcoming and friendly every time we visited. He immediately put us at ease and added to the overall positive experience.
These scans have been some of our most treasured pregnancy memories, and the team at First Encounters helped make them even more special. I’ve already recommended them to several other expectant mums at my antenatal classes and will continue to do so.

This is the third time visiting first encounters, and we had another absolutely wonderful experience attending on Saturday morning for a secret gender scan. The staff were so friendly and professional, explained everything thoroughly, even interacted with our 6 year old daughter who was super excited to see her baby on the screen, and most importantly the confetti cannon to find out the gender! Would highly recommend first encounters to anyone looking for reassurance or even a sneak peak at their baby!
We’ve been lucky to have two amazing experiences, one in 2022 and again in 2025 when we returned with our baby of 2022 to see their baby brother or sister. We’ve had a warm welcome each time and the scans have been very personal and professional. The quality of the imaging can’t be faulted and they took the time to explain every part of the scan and provide reassurance that everything was progressing well.
When we attended our most recent scan, we were welcomed with a picture from our scan in 2022 which was such a thoughtful and appreciated gesture. I would definitely recommend First Encounters and would happily return in the future!
My husband and I opted for the early gender blood test at First Encounters at approx 10 weeks gestation with our first baby. As someone who has anxiety around hospitals - my experience at First Encounters was such a positive relief! The environment is of course less “clinical” and scary. It’s far more welcoming & friendly, which I personally believe is really important to help you feel comfortable and relaxed on your pregnancy journey! The whole experience was seamless, all the way from booking to receiving our results! When we turned up on the day, we were met by a super lovely receptionist. He explained everything thoroughly and instantly made us feel at ease! We weren’t waiting long before we went into a private room with the phlebotomist who’s name was Nicola. She asked how I dealt with needles and blood etc, I told her I was a bit nervous and she handled the situation perfectly. She explained what she was going to do then we had a lovely conversation with her the whole time - I was so pleasantly distracted that I was shocked when she said she was finished. We were done super quickly, then transferred back to reception where he further explained what happens next, and even gave us a couple bags of goodies! This was on Sunday morning, we had an email Tuesday 10am to say my blood had been recieved by the laboratory, and would take a minimum of 5-6 hours to process. Then at 4:15pm we recieved the results email and were told the gender of our baby!! We couldn’t be happier and more excited to know who I’m growing inside my belly, such early on in pregnancy. Most women have to wait until the 20 week scan, but now we get all this time to come to terms with who’s arriving - name them, plan appropriately, and really envision our future as a family with them! We can’t recommend this test enough if you’re also super keen & excited to find out the gender of your baby as it’s stated as 99.9% accurate! I also know several people who’ve had this test & every time it’s been accurate! We will more than likely be back for a scan later on in pregnancy, as we had such a lovely experience and again, we consciously try to avoid the hospital where possible. Best £150 we’ve ever spent! You won’t regret it! Thank you First Encounters, I’m sure we will see you soon. If not, we definitely will be back for future pregnancies as we continue to grow our family! :D God bless, Hiedi & Kris
As we entered the clinic we was immediately met by Warren, who had this light and comfort about him that automatically helped with our nerves as we was coming in for an early reassurance scan.
He was so calm in everything he explained and we was seen straight away for our scan without any waiting. We had our 3 year old daughter with us and the ladies who delt with us during our scan were so understanding of her age and the fact she was 'worried about mummy' they spoke to her with gentle voices and told her everything that was happening to me and everything about baby on the big screen. In getting our happy news that baby was ok they let our daughter help them tidy up and give her a Big sister Sticker for being so good.
Over all our experience was a breath of fresh air and meant alot to us.
Whole experience was excellent from reception to exit. Staff made you feel individual even though multiple couples waiting and staff were great providing all the relevant information we needed. To be given free gifts at the end was also a nice touch which we were not expecting.
I recently attended an early reassurance scan with Warren, Emma, and Mandy, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a more positive experience. From the moment I arrived, they were all so warm, welcoming, and professional, which immediately helped put me at ease.
The whole process was handled with such care and sensitivity. They took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout. It’s such an emotional appointment, and their kindness and reassurance made all the difference.
Warren, Emma, and Mandy were absolutely lovely — not only highly skilled but genuinely compassionate. You can tell they truly care about the people they’re looking after.
I left feeling so much more relaxed and reassured, and I’m really grateful for the experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering an early scan.
SIMPLY AMAZING! Second time returning for a secret gender scan and yet again the most incredible service. By far the best scan I have ever had. The communication, the reassurance and professionalism was second to none not just from one staff member but everyone. I cannot praise or recommend First Encounters enough. Do not hesitate to book!
