I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for the outstanding care we received during the birth of our baby girl last week.
The staff were consistently kind, supportive, and professional throughout our experience. The midwives and student midwives were exceptional during my wife’s labour and delivery. They provided reassurance, kept her calm, and offered constant encouragement, ensuring she felt safe and well cared for at all times.
I would especially like to thank the Trinity Ward team, including the nurses, doctors, cleaners, and catering staff. Everyone played a vital role in making our stay comfortable and positive, and we truly appreciate the dedication and compassion shown by each member of the team.
As first-time parents without family or friends nearby, we were understandably anxious. However, the staff went above and beyond to support us, even taking the time to teach us how to care for our newborn, including practical guidance such as bathing. Their kindness and patience helped ease our worries and gave us confidence as new parents.
Once again, we are deeply thankful for the excellent care provided to my wife and our baby. Your support made a truly meaningful difference to our experience.

Took our 1 year old daughter in to a&e after being sent by the gp and the staff in the paediatrics department were fantastic, especially the specialist who I believe her name was Rosemary (I could be completely wrong 😂). And the nurse with blonde hair who was on the night shift on the front desk in the department was also brilliant. The wait time was a bit lengthy but it was a busy Friday evening so to be expected. All around great experience.
Attended an appointment at Chesterfield Royal Hospital for a bone density scan.
The department was difficult to locate as it is listed under “Nuclear Medicine,” with no clear direction for Bone Density. I had to ask multiple staff members.
The main issue was a serious communication failure. We were not told in advance that children are not permitted in the department or waiting area. A staff member then took my partner and our three-year-old outside via a fire exit and told him to wait there. He asked for me to be informed of where he was, but this was not passed on.
After my appointment, I was unable to locate him and could not contact him due to lack of signal. I had no idea he had been taken outside the building, which caused significant distress.
Most staff I encountered were kind and helpful, including reception who assisted in locating him. However, this situation was entirely avoidable and came down to a basic failure in communication.
Clearer signage, advance information about restrictions, and proper communication between staff are needed to prevent this happening again.
Of you have an appointment at the hospital, it's reasonable and the staff are great. If your unfortunately referred to A&E a nightmare awaits you, you can expect at least 12 hrs wait, I've done it twice, the staff are still great when they see you, but, this week they're were 73 people waiting and only two doctors on, the board needs replacing and start again. My advice, don't go wait till your so I'll you need an ambulance
I am recovering from surgery for a perforated diverticulitis performed by the surgeons at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
The path from being seen in A&E to discharge was nothing but amazing.
A doctor in A&E who recognised through my abnormal walk that my condition was more serious than thought.
A surgeon explaining, less than 2 hours later, the procedure.

The care, consideration and excellent treatment in HDU.
The recovery on the Devonshire ward was exemplary by all staff.
I cannot praise highly enough how i actually felt like part of a family in HDU and on the Devonshire ward. I would like to give a special mention to Ligina on HDU and Brian on Devonshire, although all staff were immense in my recovery.
Chesterfield Royal Hospital has some really amazing people and it is a shame it is not my local hospital. Well done to all concerned.
Our little girl cut her head open, from injury to treatment to getting home was 1.5 hours. The staff were so kind, understanding and helpful. Feel very very lucky to have our hospital so close.
Thank-you especially to the paediatric A&E team who saw us straight away and gave my little girl a teddy to have during our time there and she got to bring home.
Sent here for tests for suspected appendicitis and out it came! All staff during my visit were excellent. Everyone happy to help get you to the correct department. Triage nurses very friendly, helpful and understanding. Nurses were all extremely helpful with advice and information. I was mainly in Surgical Assessment Unit and cannot thank all of them enough for their outstanding service. * A note about the food. My opinion is that during my short stay the meals I received were extremely adequate for a service catering for large numbers of people. The soup was deliciously and the ginger pudding with custard was my absolute favourite. I am so grateful for the NHS and this hospital. Thank you
We had a really good experience with this hospital.
My wife was 36 weeks pregnant when we moved over to them as for different reasons we wasn’t happy with the care she was recieving.
Right from the start everything was dealt with brilliantly and a birth plan was set up.
Then at time of birth all the staff were excellent especially the midwife Emily and also a special mention to the surgeon team as well who were all great and explained everything nice and calm.
