I had a very good experience in Bolton General Practice. Dr J Mylvaganam is very professional and detail minded. He examined my ear carefully. Give me good advice and diagnosis. He also follow upmy case to make sure I have no more infection. I’m much appreciated. od
I’m writing this as a patient who feels deeply let down by the GP system in Bolton.
I developed what started as a cold burn, which has since turned into an open wound. It has still not healed and remains untreated properly despite me contacting my GP surgery on two separate occasions.
During my first visit, I was prescribed antibiotics. What concerned me most was that the doctor appeared unsure about the condition and searched online during the appointment to understand what it was and how to treat it. Seeing a medical professional rely on an internet search in front of me made me feel unsafe and worried that they didn’t fully understand what they were dealing with. I was given antibiotics and sent home, but there was no proper wound care, cleaning or dressing provided. The wound has still not healed.
I attended again on the 11 march because I was worried about infection and the lack of improvement. I waited for around an hour past my appointment time due to other issues at the practice, which I understand can happen when services are extremely busy. However, when I was finally seen, the appointment itself lasted only about two- three minutes. The doctor briefly looked at the wound and said I would be referred elsewhere. When I asked how long that would take, I was told “not long — around two weeks.”
I left feeling shocked and frustrated and I’m not someone who is outspoken so I couldn’t even ask the questions I truly wanted to ask, especially when I feel rushed in an environment. I don’t understand why a GP service cannot provide basic wound care such as cleaning the injury and applying the correct dressing. Being told to wait weeks with an open wound feels unacceptable and distressing.
I understand GP practices are under pressure and very busy and I am willing to put some delays down to how packed the surgery was. However, patients should still feel properly assessed, treated, and reassured especially when dealing with an open wound that risks 🥀infection🥀.
This situation has left me asking some serious questions about our health care quality
• What is the role of a GP if basic treatment isn’t provided?
• Why are patients left waiting with untreated wounds?
• What are we paying taxes for if essential frontline care isn’t accessible?
My visit to this GP has shown me that quantity over quality is more valued.
I understand the pressures on the National Health Service and that staff are often overstretched. However, patients should still feel safe, listened to and properly treated. Right now, I feel dismissed and let down by a system that is supposed to provide timely and 🥀competent care🥀.
I have generally found the practice staff to be polite and professional, however there is a persistent issue that really needs addressing. The doors inside the building bang extremely loudly every time they close, which is very disruptive and unpleasant, especially in what should be a calm healthcare environment.
This could easily be resolved by properly adjusting the doors or installing soft-close door dampers to prevent them from slamming. It would make a significant difference to patient comfort and create a much more peaceful atmosphere.
I hope the practice considers fixing this soon, as it would greatly improve the overall experience.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the entire team at this GP surgery.
The doctors and reception staff are consistently polite, respectful, and genuinely kind. From the moment you arrive, you are treated with patience, understanding, and professionalism. My wife is currently receiving treatment here, and we have always felt that she is cared for with real compassion, dignity, and thoughtful attention. This has meant a great deal to our family.
On one occasion there was a very minor misunderstanding, which was resolved promptly, calmly, and professionally. I am particularly grateful to Ms Alexa, the Assistant Practice Manager, for her kindness, reassurance, and efficiency.
Overall, this is a well-managed GP surgery with a high standard of patient care and a truly supportive team. I would highly recommend this service without hesitation.
Very disappointing experience. I arrived at 4:00 pm for my 4:10 pm appointment while being 34 weeks pregnant. I had also just picked up my two daughters from school and they were very hungry.
The doctor did not call me until around 4:50 pm. During the wait, I saw him talking with a member of staff inside the room. When I asked the receptionist at about 4:45 pm, I was first told the doctor was dealing with a patient on the phone. Later I was told he was speaking with the manager.
I understand delays can happen, but waiting around 40 minutes in this situation was very difficult, especially while heavily pregnant and with two children after school.
If the doctor needed time for a meeting, appointments should not be given at that time. Very disappointing service and poor time management.
The Specialist physio was excellent he was professional and allowed me to ask questions. He listened atte lively showing interest in my questions and answering them with good clear examples so that l left the Clinic with a clear knowledge of my illness. And clear activities l need to do. With dos and donts in order to make me better again. Thank you Mr Rituraj Patwardhan.
Fatima was absolutely amazing she went out of her way for me to see the doctor straight away,as I was sent from the hospital by my consultant to have my leg looked at as it is badly swollen. I am awaiting a major operation and my consultant said they will not continue with my operation with my leg being so swollen. Thank you fajita xx
I was there 2024 and the service was great. After that I wasn’t sick through out 2025, so 2026. I had a problem with my ears and when I got there, they told me my name has been removed from their system so I was confused and needed to know the reason but one of the receptionist they way she was talking to me was uncalled for and this is not how to welcome a patient 🥲
