I attended as an inpatient day-case for a hysteroscopy with biopsy of the womb lining this week. It was my second time there,. My first was in 2024. I am pretty clued up with the hysteroscopy process, but I noticed that some strides have been made in the actual process and in keeping the patient informed. I found the level of care from all staff was excellent for my day spent in ward 8. The theatre and recovery staff were compassionate and really went the extra mile. Women, if you are ever referred for an outpatient hysteroscopy there which is done as a walk in, awake procedure, be aware it might hurt! They can offer a range of pain relief if you have it done awake, but if in any doubt, or anxiety you have the right to ask for a general anaesthetic. I did it this way and was well cared for. My questions were answered clearly and I was treated with respect. I went home in the evening after being there since 7.15am. Only slight gripe is I missed 2 meals because of the wait, and I never got to meet my consultant. Just waiting for biopsy results now. Fingers crossed for another all clear. #hysteroscopy

My daughter experienced reduced movements from her baby along with some pain, so she called the maternity triage team. They immediately advised her to come in, and from the moment she arrived, the care she received was exceptional. The service was incredibly prompt, and every member of staff was so kind, compassionate, and reassuring. They understood how worried she was about her baby and treated her with such care and respect throughout. A very special thank you to Pam, who was absolutely wonderful, and to the doctor who was on duty that day. I'm so sorry I can't remember your name, but your kindness, professionalism, and reassurance meant so much to my daughter and our family. Thank you all for the outstanding care you provide. It made such a frightening experience so much easier, and we are truly grateful for everything you did.

had an amazing experience at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. The level of care I received was truly outstanding, and the medical staff are absolutely top. I gave birth here recently, and I could clearly see the difference compared to my first birth, which took place at a different hospital. This time, everything felt so much better. I felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire experience. The staff were kind, attentive, and professional, and they made such an important moment in my life feel calm and positive. The care I received is something I haven’t experienced before, and I’m truly grateful. Thank you to everyone at the hospital for making this experience so special. I would highly recommend it to any expectant mother.

I had an elective C-section at this hospital and my experience was excellent from start to finish. The surgical team was incredibly professional, caring, and reassuring. I was very anxious before the operation and even experienced what felt like a panic attack, but the team managed the situation with such calmness and kindness that I felt safe and supported throughout. Everything was carried out efficiently and professionally, and I am very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and the care I received. After the birth of my daughter, I was transferred to Ward 3, where all of the staff were wonderful. However, I would especially like to thank Charlotte and Marie. Their kindness and compassion made a huge difference during my stay. What stood out most was that they didn’t just respond when help was requested—they noticed when I needed support and offered it before I even had to ask. As a new mother recovering from surgery, that level of care meant so much to me. Thank you to everyone involved in my care. The professionalism, kindness, and dedication of the staff made what could have been a very stressful experience feel positive and well-supported. I am truly grateful and would highly recommend this hospital ♥️

Kelly, the nurse in the Heritage Building, was honestly the kindest person I've ever met anywhere in the world. She took my mum's blood test and made us feel so welcome and cared for from the moment we arrived. We had travelled all the way from Wales, and she kindly made us tea and coffee, which meant so much after our journey. She didn't stop there 💗she even walked with us to the parking area to help us find where our car was parked. She truly went far beyond what anyone would expect as part of her job. Her compassion, kindness, and genuine care made a stressful hospital visit into a positive experience. Kelly is an absolute credit to the NHS, and we are so grateful for everything she did. Thank you, Kelly❤you are simply the best.

Over the past three months, I have had cause to attend on several occasions and have observed a concerning inconsistency in the standard of conduct displayed by staff. While certain members of the team demonstrate commendable professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness, others have been noticeably rude, disengaged, and dismissive toward my granddaughter, seemingly due to her age. Additionally, it appears that there is frequently only one doctor available to cover the entire hospital, resulting in prolonged waiting times that span several hours. As another reviewer aptly described, the experience resembles a conveyor‑belt approach to patient care, which is wholly inappropriate in a healthcare setting. For the safety and wellbeing of patients, it is imperative that the Trust urgently reviews its staffing levels, increases the number of medical professionals on duty, and ensures that all staff receive appropriate retraining to uphold the standards expected within a healthcare environment.

My wife and I had an awful experience at this Hospital. It had taken a very long time before we were blessed with becoming pregnant, we had experienced many pregnancy losses prior to getting pregnant and were naturally anxious. The antenatal care received from the community midwives namely Jayne was indescribably poor. Despite our history of multiple losses we were never put in touch with or referred to or even made aware of the rainbow midwives. She had no idea how to care for a patient who had experienced previous losses, she was dismissive, lacked knowledge, she did not return phone calls and actually added to our anxiety by repeating on more than one occasion we would be, ‘lucky’ if we got support at the time of my wife giving birth as the hospital basically wait for you to have delivered the babies head before they will see you. I am puzzled that they chose to showcase the same midwife a few weeks ago on their social media, it really shows a lack of awareness on their part on how their staff do interact with patients. The night my wife went into labor we attended triage, she was screaming out and was told to take a seat, other peoples relatives were lying on the seats and chairs she had nowhere to sit, after 15 minutes her waters broke - the receptionist shook her head and as slowly as humanly possible walked into the triage nursing station to tell them. This happened in front of a room full of women, men, relatives, Deliveroo delivery drivers dropping off food. It was so inhumane, embarrassing and scarring. After the birth my wife and baby had to stay in hospital for a further three days. My wife had a milk allergy - she was repeatedly given tea with milk, cereal and offered milk. When we highlighted this again to the housekeeping staff they told us it was an inconvenience as they would have to go down to the main restaurant to get her food. From that point forward every single lunch and dinner they served her baked potato and beans. We tried to explain potatoes, vegetables and meats are fine but they told us this was the only appropriate food and stopped bringing her a breakfast. It’s hard to put into words how the care at this hospital ruined our experience of pregnancy and birth after a horrific journey to achieve this. I’m not convinced when I read the 5 star reviews - how could some patients have an outstanding experience and receive everything and others can’t even receive basic care? It doesn’t make sense. Either way, being cared for by the community midwife here and this hospital has ultimately made us question whether we want more children as I don’t feel we could go through what they put us through again. I’m sure they do very good work - but that was not our experience

Amazing treatment for my gynae procedure yesterday. Was greeted by a very friendly nurse on arrival. Everything was ready for me at my bed. Seen the HCA for obs, nurse, consultant & anaesthetist in quick succession. Theatre staff were very supportive & comforting. Sarah Walker, consultant & her reg were lovely & explained everything before & after the surgery. Becca, my nurse throughout the day, was perfect. Staff need more pay for what they do but that's decided by government policy! Just need to recover now but can't thank everyone enough xx
