Charles Hanna
“ You fell through the cracks here since 2007 “ = told this on 9/2023 following a MVA , by M.H. Exam Dr. J. Lampkin
“ you cannot connect lines on a cognitive test “ = told this by a M.H. Exam Dr. J Lampkin. = 9/2023 following a MVA
“how did WE fail you Mr. Hanna“ an unknown / un-named female “Doctor”asked me this question during a inpatient stay in 2024 = then no more care ever. No name tag, would not present i.d. Would not positivity identify herself. Just ill fitting scrubs curly blond-ish hair and a uneven gait wearing a white coat. Yet what a great question huh.
“ We can’t help you , TYFYS “ In regards to er care and arrest after a MVA ( Nuero related as well ) = yes I was told this following a MVA
“ maybe next time we will bring a dr in so you don’t have to repeat yourself “ Nuero dept told me during a visit
“things happen before people die” = great bedside manner during a inpatient visit. = told following a MVA
Overall.
** They will give you 2-10 years in jail rather then healthcare.
** They will drag you outta the er.
** They will backdate a BEHAVIORAL FLAG to ensure you can’t come back.
*** Their patient advocates p. franklen and w. babbers Will threaten physical bodily harm upon you and nothing happens. Execpt you may get arrested several times seeking “ care “ get charged. Jailed. And Denied all future care.
*** *** Good job Houston great hospital. Va you’ve been great since 2007 it seems.
VA 5-Star Rating … ‼️Updated below in Part-II‼️
I enrolled in Veterans’ Health Care after a somewhat stressful period in the civilian medical system.
The VA Service has been nothing but outstanding.
The level of professionalism, service, care and respect is incredible.
Whether we’re talking about the Doctors, Associates, Nurses, Technicians or Administrative Staff, the dedication and commitment goes way beyond a “just a job” attitude,
I am a cancer patient with a number of other health issues and I have nothing but gratitude and praise for everyone who has worked with me.
That goes double for the Oncology, Urology, Radiation, Cardiology and the Neurology Departments.
Yes, you’re reading that correctly. I feel that strongly about all of them.
Thank you VA.
The story continues! The level of genuine interest shown by the Staff just seems to increase. I recently had a follow-up. First came Check-In .. then Vitals .. then Prep-Interview .. then Discussion with Doctor.. every step was personal and the conversation with my Doctor was really a “2-Way” Discussion.
Yes, I understand that not everyone feels this way and I’m sorry if you’ve had a negative experience. I’m just relating mine and I have nothing but praise for the people who have cared for me at the DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston
‼️Part-II‼️19.Feb 2026
𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐄. 𝐃𝐞𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫
I have continually talked about and praised the VA and the men and women who work.
That will continue…
Here’s why….
Today I was there for my final “Glow ☢️ In the Dark” session.
On the way, I passed one of my Doctors in corridor.
He asked how it was going.
I told him about the recent pains in my legs, and showed him a video that I recorded yesterday.
He listened … made a few comments and then he said … “Okay, when you’re done, go to the 2nd Floor and we’ll have some X-Rays taken.”
After the “zapping” was finished, I went to the 2nd Floor expecting to get an appointment “scheduled”.
Now, I am in the waiting area and my X-Rays will be taken in a few minutes.😲
As stated … it’s just different …
The Technician just called me…
To be cont’d…
I’m done… that was the most thorough X-Ray Exam that I have ever had.
They must have thought that I was once a contortionist.😬
Once again … nothing but positives for the two Techs… Friendly, Respectful, Engaging Funny and extremely Competent.
In a few days, I suppose I will know what ails me.
By the, I forgot to mention that the “Radiology Crew” even gave me a Certificate.
So once again … I’m giving the VA “6 Stars on a 5 Star scale”👍🏽
‼️Update 02.June 2026‼️
I just returned from what I called my “Bucket-Trip”.
I spent 2+ weeks in Germany. There’s a lot more to the story than what I’m writing here, but the important part is the effort made by my Doctors in Oncology and Urology to stay in touch “WHILE I WAS TRAVELING!”😳
They also made sure that there were follow-up appointments scheduled as soon as I returned.
I’ve been writing and posting a sort of journal that details my cancer journey.
I don’t know if it helps anyone. The best I can do is to wish for you the same positive experiences that I have had with the VA… and give my thanks to “Dr. Y….” and “Dr. C….” and their staffs.
So one more time … I’m giving the VA “6 Stars on a 5 Star scale”👍🏽
I had a great experience. Early Saturday morning dentist appointment, so traffic was smooth and I easily found parking. I usually really hate dentist visits, they're usually full of being told all the ways I live incorrectly and need to do better. Dr. Heckenbach and the team there didn't do that. He was very professional and answered all of the questions I would've had just as he spoke while conducting his exam. He was thorough and honest with me about things that needed to be addresses versus things that weren't an issue.
I was also seen very promptly. I didn't have to wait a crazy long time past when my appointment was supposed to be.
I did feel a little lost getting into the building at first, and nobody was at the information desk to help. But thankfully I was able to find my way with the appointment info in my VA app.
My son Bryan was in and out of the hospital for the last year of his life. He received the best treatment from the most caring staff. He was not the best patient and sometimes he was very difficult I want to thank Dr Mary Garcia who worked with Bryan several times. She was so kind and supportive with him and our family during the last weeks.
They cure me of cancer and helped me with other health problems. I choose this place as a very big blessing. The whole staff are great people and Christians that care about you. When I'm staying there for treatment I feel at ease. I trust in the doctors and nurses. I pray for this hospital to be blessed for all the help it gave me for its outstanding care. Thank you for caring for me.
I've spent a large amount of time at many VA hospitals and this one is overall very good. The grounds are beautiful, including a pond / lake, green fields, and fountains. I've had to stay overnight a few times due to circumstances beyond my control, and the staff were super helpful and the police are cool. It's not perfect, but it's very nice, especially when compared to some other VA medical centers. Recommended.
Warning: The VA systems do not link together; if you got an eye exam at N.Dallas VA it DOES NOT link to HOUSTON VA, even if it's valid. You have to have the eye exam at the same place you get glasses. Sad.
Well organized with much more parking than other main VA campuses. Easy to get around.
July 13 2026, had a dental appointment at 0900, I arrived at 0834, I drove around for over 30 minutes looking for parking and I missed my appointment, remind you I already have to drive 35 minutes to the VA, so all the gas money wasted and will not gst refund because I didnt get to my appointment, this is absolutely ridiculous, NOBODY should have to Struggle to find parking, DO better houston VA! Why isnt there a parking garage with 3 to 4 levels? This is the biggest county in the USA and you dont have enough parking for the veterans, we already dealt with this shit in the military, we dont need this added stress anymore .. shaking my damn head, I already had to wait. 3 1/2 months.. now I had to reschedule and wait another month 😡🙄🙄🙄
