In short, this clinic focuses on milking insurance and upselling medically unnecessary out-of-pocket services while providing hurried, unprofessional dental care. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Aggressive Upselling & Double Billing: Day one, they tried to sell me a bite guard despite no previous dentist ever mentioning a need for one. On my second visit, they pushed "scaling" and a fluoride treatment. I ended up paying over $200 out-of-pocket because they claimed insurance wouldn't cover it. Later, I discovered that fluoride for adults is often an unnecessary upsell—and even worse, they still billed my insurance for the items I had already paid for in full.
Unnecessary Procedures: Six months later, they tried to pressure me into another set of X-rays. I knew my insurance only covers them once a year (and full-mouth every five years), but the staff kept insisting "it's a new calendar year, so it's covered." I had to firmly refuse, and the dentist eventually confirmed that X-rays were not medically necessary.
Sloppy & Unprofessional Cleaning: The actual cleaning was the worst I’ve ever had. The hygienist was in a rush—the ultrasonic scaler and polishing tool were in my mouth for less than a minute combined. She kept the high-volume suction hook hanging in my mouth the entire time (incredibly uncomfortable and not standard practice). She didn't even offer a rinse after the polishing.
If you are going to overcharge people, at least provide decent dental service. If you must visit this clinic, do not sign anything until you fully understand why you need it. Always double-check your insurance claims to ensure you aren't being double-charged.
The entire staff is great! This has been the best experience I’ve ever had at a dentist office in my life and I’m 63 years old. Dental Solutions thank you so much. May you continue to make people happy.
My Warmest Regards,
Karen
i was late and everyone was extremely understanding and kind. i was seen shortly after arriving. my dentist was a little chatty which i feel weird cuz i couldn’t talk since there was equipment in my mouth, but she was nice so its okay! i feel bad because she was so busy but it was one of the quickest and least painful teeth cleanings ive ever had! excited to go back in 6 months lol
Pros: Fast service. Minimal wait time. Easy to get appointment. The dental hygienist was very nice.
Cons: A bit annoying that my check up, cleaning, and filling were all done at 3 different appointments.
After my filling, a lot of food began getting stuck between that tooth (to the point where it would get painful). I notified the dentist the next time I visited but he just brushed it off.
As someone who gets nervous about dental offices and has been searching for a good one, I had a really great experience here. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and kind and answered any questions I had. I noticed they were like this with all patients that came in. Finding a dental office you feel comfortable in can be stressful but they made it really nice and easy and are located in a convenient location.
I am a new patient and my first visit was great ! Easy check in with Nicole , Quick check in , barely sat to wait. Dr Herman was great at explaining everything and making sure I was comfortable.
Rick was great with assisting him.
Unreliable Scheduling and Poor Service
Rating: ⭐ / 5
I have been a patient at Dental Solutions in Philadelphia for four years, but unfortunately, trying to actually get a cleaning has become more painful than the procedure itself.
The administrative side of this practice has become completely unreliable. Here is why I can no longer recommend them. It feels like a miracle if they don’t cancel my appointment. Most recently, they canceled an appointment I had scheduled six months ago with less than 24 hours' notice. After canceling on me, they were unable to find a reasonable date to make it right. I was told my next option isn't until April. The unprofessional customer service it’s unbelievable when I spoke with Chanel at the front desk, she was dismissive and rude. While I understand she is "the messenger," as the face of the practice, she showed zero empathy for how these constant changes disrupt a patient’s life. Instead of trying to help, she simply reminded me it "wasn't her fault."
A dental practice should respect their patients' time. If you need a reliable dentist who keeps their commitments, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
I had a nice visit and liked my hygienist Kevin and the dentist Dr. Herman. However, it was not revealed until the end of my visit that I couldn’t get a cleaning the same day and would have to schedule three months out if I wanted to get my teeth cleaned. I already scheduled this initial visit a month ago and I know I selected “cleaning” as my reason for a visit. When asked why I came into today, I said I was there for cleaning at that time as well and no one told me I wouldn’t get that today. This system is dishonest. If two separate visits are needed, that should at least be revealed at the time of scheduling. It will be very difficult for me to find a time for a cleaning now.
