First I want to start with the pros. I'm new to Chicago from Milwaukee Wisconsin, so I come from a state that has a top tier medical system where most hospitals and clinics have nothing but great reviews and both doctors and nurses who go above and beyond for their patients.
I highly recommend ER doctor Akhter Patel of this hospital, and it's my most sincerest hope that he runs his own practice aside from just being an ER doctor. I came in with bronchitis, and he did not mess around. He ordered a chest x ray, nebulized albuterol and the whole works plus prescribed corticosteroids and all the necessary stuff to combat bronchitis in asthma patients.
The hospital does have a very long waiting room time. I sat out there for 2 hours, plus spent an extra 5 hours in back, but their ER is very short staffed. I think there were only 2 or 3 nurses working alongside him and they were taking on at least 100 + patients which is no small thing.
The cons: The oxygen cleanliness needs an overhaul and brought to attention. Most hospitals generally have pure oxygen running throughout the building at all times. It is very important to me that hospitals have this because of how COVID and other bad upper respiratory viruses exist. They only have box fans circulating the air over here and that's a huge red flag. That is the only reason why I'm leaving out a star, but other than that, doctor Akhter Patel and his team deserve a raise for how hard they work.
I recently had a stay at Community First Medical Center, and I truly want to express how grateful I am for the exceptional care I received. I was dealing with significant leg pain that made it very difficult for me to move around, and I became highly dependent on the staff for even the simplest tasks. Everyone was incredibly kind, patient, and always willing to help. No matter how many times I needed assistance, they treated me with compassion and never made me feel like a burden. Their support made such a hard time much more manageable. I especially want to recognize the night shift team. They were extremely attentive, particularly during moments when I had accidents at night. They responded quickly, helped me with dignity, and made sure I was always comfortable. That level of care truly meant a lot to me. A very special thank you to my nurse Arnel and my tech Diana. Both of them consistently attended to my needs as soon as I called for help. Diana, in particular, stood out for her kindness and incredible patience. Given how dependent I was during my stay, her gentle and understanding approach made a huge difference in my experience. Overall, I felt truly cared for and supported the entire time. I’m beyond grateful , would definitely recommend this hospital. 👍🏻
Frightening experience. My mom was admitted at 4 Am for a stroke/heartattack. Was in an ER bed for almost 36 hours . Had a chest xray and MRI thankfully both were negative. After speaking with several nurses and a couple of doctors it was determined she had a seizure. Everyone agreed she should be admitted but she had to wait for a bed and they wanted to do an EEG so we could get some answers. 2 hours later she was miraculously healed and they decided to discharge her without a wheelchair or shoes or discharge papers. Be aware of needles on the floor.
My wife had her colonoscopy at Community First Medical Center today, performed by Dr. Heydarpour…he was great… a very warm and calming demeanor, which was much appreciated.! The support staff was excellent…everyone was so nice! The hospital was very clean…my wife and I loved the bed warmers! I also enjoyed a tasty omelette from the nice cafeteria…keep up the great work Community First Medical Center!
Hello, I have been coming to this hospital for several years since it is the closest to me, and I can truly say it has improved a lot. During my recent emergency visits, the staff has been consistently kind, attentive, and efficient. I had several tests done, and everyone was very helpful throughout the process. Eli, who assisted me during a gallbladder exam, was especially kind, and the CT scan team was very attentive. Even the registration staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable. Overall, all the nurses, assistants, and doctors provided excellent care.
I was fortunate to get gastric sleeve with Dr. T. From beginning to discharge, everything went amazingly!! The staff are INCREDIBLY kind. Huge shout out to Mahal, the nurse who did my intake and eased my anxieties. Nurse Sherry who persevered and got my iv in. My preop nurse before surgery (I forgot her name because I was having too much literal fun with her). Silvia, the nurse who cared for me so wonderfully after I woke up. She was so attentive, relatable and kind. She made me feel heard and valued while being my biggest cheerleader. Community First Medical Center and Dr. T, you have a 5 🌟 team!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
This hospital needs to be shut down , I don’t understand how it’s still open the e.r rooms are molded and rusty , the e.r waiting area water fountain doesn’t work the hospital has no air it’s super hot … the staff has personal fans here …. My mom been waiting 3 days to get a room in the icu department they said they are short staffed … I witnessed multiple arguments between the staffs …. ( but I must say the staff is great ) I feel sorry for them working under these conditions… who is the owner , they are very cheap and needs to be held accountable for how this hospital is being kept up ….
My 86 yeas old friend Linda recently spent 4 days at Community First Hospital and we had a very positive experience.The medical staff was attentive, professional, caring and supportive. Nurses Margaret , Josie, Neelam were so helpful, kind , understanding . They were regularly checking in and making sure, she was comfortable.The Doctors took time to explain her condition and treatment plan clearly . The facility was always clean and well maintained.. Thank you people with big hearts ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
