The staff make the place. They are the most caring group of people Ive experienced in some time
There was not one bad apple. No poor attitudes, no mad faces. Just a collective good energy working hard to ensure they delivered the best experience in potentially dire circumstances.
The building itself is pretty run down in areas. Housekeeping was rarely seen outside of changing trash can liners. The shower was not useable as it hadnt been thoroughly cleaned. The floors in the bathroom were dirty and still showed previous patients hair.
Dietary is also an area requiring improvement. I was provided the same meal, 3 times in a row. Many times foods listed on the tray were not there. Lastly, there desperately needs to be more vegetarian options. We're in California.
The patient care on the 7th floor was awesome. Thank you Osmar, Lorna, Enrique, and especially La Monica. They were caring and compassionate and cared about doing what is right for the patient. Great patient care, but I was met with what seemed like resistance from Delores, the social worker. Don't expect a return call regarding your loved one from her. As a result, the discharge was very difficult but she was well taken care of while she was there. Unfortunately, Mom is back there and Im confident in her care. Hopefully this time we can have a smooth exit as well.
Overall the nursing and staff were fantastic. I experienced them as warm and kind and friendly. All of the tests my mom went through took a long time, but that is understandable given how busy they were with Kaiser and Cedars on strike. They were very kind with my mother and I can see how hard they all worked.
My brother was recently sent here the early morning of July 7 2026,for respiratory issues and low BP. My Mom tried calling to check on him later that day,the staff that answered the phone (we don't have anyone here by that name...and hung up). The 2nd time she called,same staff answered the phone and put her on hold then the call ended. 3-4th time called same thing there was No record of my brother being brought there. Come to find out at approx 4pm they had my brothers 1st and Last name Swapped. The staff never asked for another Identifier like maybe his DOB? She kept answering the phone knowing she had just spoke to my Mom but didn't try to help resolve the matter. If you recognized the person kept calling, there must be some truth to Why they made multiple calls looking for that person. The hours spent not knowing where he was,the mix up with his name is the reason for the 1 star. Word of Advice,if you have the opportunity to work in Customer Service or with the Public DO BETTER. When you work in Healthcare,your in the field of helping people. I'm sure working at a Hospital/ER could be very busy and stressful. I hope my experience with Centinela Hospital doesn't happen to another Family .
All the staff members since I got there to ER by ambulance took care of me like I never imagined. Really clean rooms.I was told several negative things but in reality every single staff had a great and respectful attitude. I was there for 5 days and not one day they had a negative attitude towards me. Great hospital.
I’m recognizing Elizabeth, she is a nurse on the 6th floor. I am a patient that has been in the hospital for 3 weeks now, waiting on surgery. Elizabeth has made me feel like we have known each other forever, she has a lot of spunk and very high spirited. Her performance is exceptional and gives the vibe that she is there for her patients and not just for the pay. She explains everything and doesn’t make u feel like ur asking to many questions. It has been a pleasure having her as my nurse. Centinela hospital should be very proud in having her as she is an asset for any hospital she may work for. An extremely satisfied patient. I shall miss u when I leave, keep up the good work Elizabeth. Don’t let anyone bring u down.
Some nurses were better. The room was dirty when I arrived. Not once in 2 days it was mopped. Window wouldn't open. I mean the blind, broken. The male aide was excellent, polite and patient he was good, Anthony. Nurse Maria and Sandra were top! These are areas that need to be corrected.
I was blown away by the staff and nurses who cared for me during my time at Centinela. Being a person who rarely likes to even enter a hospital, this experience was something different. The staff felt like family and embraced me from moment #1.
I first arrived in the ER on a busy night with fear of a spider bite on my chest. After my follow up we discovered it was an acute abscess & cellulitis. I was admitted and stayed for two days. During this time I had a surgery with Dr Clark to have it removed. The entire experience was terrifying to me because I hadn't been under the knife since 2006 when I broke my ankle. I was a caregiver for my father for 8 years and during that time I lost so much faith in the medical industry. This brief stay and wonderful team at Centinela has turned my views around.
There are so many individuals that were kind to me, helped me out when I had questions and even answered questions for me.

The icing on the cake is the day I was discharged the hospital took care of my car service, made sure I had lunch & all the supplies needed to change my wound dressing for the next 7 days.
Heather even helped me carry my bags and my nurse peeled an orange for me since my chest was sore. I can not say it enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the team at Centinela. I feel blessed.
