I wish I could do half stars. I would review it as 3.5. 2 sides of the hospital, completely different experiences.
Surgery side: 5 STARS!!! Holy cow, everyone from check in, pre op, to the 5th floor nursing staff was absolutely amazing. So much knowledge and compassion! I felt so safe and taken care of here.
Psychiatric side: 1 STAR! Absolutely filthy, roaches and nats and all around dirty in shower area. Nurses are 50/50 and will egg you on. Nurses always seemed annoyed at everything and all they did was take vitals and sit behind a desk. No groups or sessions were ever held. Everyone needs help but seemed like more concerned with getting people housing instead of actually treating people in crises. I saw a Dr ONE TIME ONLY, and that was a week later getting released, he was useless, spoke for maybe 5 min. Was supposed to be transfered to another facility for longer term help and that didn't happen. Was told a uber would be picking me up and dropping me off at the hospital I was picked up from. They dont care if you stink, are in crises, their only concern is getting you out of there if you have a mental condition. Their sole focus is on drug addicts and getting them in free programs which is great but I needed help too and you failed me. Immediately went to VA for help right after I was released. I hope to never be taken here again
I wanted to take a moment to sincerely express my gratitude for the incredible support and care I received during my stay. I was truly blown away by the compassion, professionalism, and kindness shown by every member of your team. Your hospital absolutely lives up to its reputation, and it is clear that you have hired an outstanding group of individuals who genuinely care about their patients.
All the nurses I had were exceptional, Mason, Luis, Lorene and Amanda. The, compassion and attention to detail was comforting, knowing that I was in good hands. Even through shift changes, the nursing staff was a cohesive team not missing a beat. My stay in the hospital was great because of all the professional nurses working on my floor. Great job.
From one who has been hospitalized many times over my lifetime.
This Hospital in my opinion
It has the feel of an Inner City Hospital from the 70’s. Gray dark halls and lighting. Did not feel clean.
The Nurses are great!
Senior Staff is Severly lacking in empathetic approach to patient care
In talking with them, it is clear they are solely focused on Patient ability to pay.
Thank God, My Surgeon can operate at Baptist Hospital.
I recently had another surgery, and told my surgeon I will not go back to Methodist Transplant. He sent me to the new Baptist Hospital in Westover Hills. What a beautiful facility! Nurses are outstanding, the executive staff even makes rounds to randomly check in on patients
The Food was similar to a 3 star
I would advise anyone who is being advised to have surgery, to inquire if the surgeon can also operate at this hospital!
ER Dr. Bacher and nurse Amy are truly amazing. I am so thankful that I went to this hospital
A 5 star to my Urologist Dr Wells and his partner and I’m sorry but I had a hard time pronouncing his last name but he was my Anesthesiologist
Thank you two, to the moon and back. You took that stubborn 9 mm stone logged in my kidney and zapped it with a laser. My Doc Anesthesiologist, boy he put me to sleep like I was on cloud heaven and brought me back to wake and felt like I caught up to my lack of sleep. Kudos to you both!!
I give a 2 star for a male nurse Joseph who has a I do not care attitude or a I know it all attitude. This is a nurse not at ER, this is a nurse in the admitted 3rd floor. The other nurses are great but this one male nurse puts a sour taste for this hospital. I know it is not an easy job, but if you’re in it for the money, the job is not for you!!
I really hope you get to read this, because knowledge is the key to success.
p.s. if I ever have a logged stone in my kidney this is the place for me!! Great Hospital!!
I am grateful for my kidney transplant that my brother in law gave me! I am grateful for the surgeon and all the medical staff who helped me with this miracle. I am giving a negative review because the lack of information my transplant coordinator provided before the transplant. He was not well informed on the process or the surgery so he gave me miss information. I do love and appreciate my post transplant coordinator. She is helpful and responsive with all my concerns. Now my main complaint is the check in set up on the first floor. It is crowded not a proper flow and it feels like a cattle call. Plus the door constantly opens when people walk into the building so you have people who are already struggling to stay healthy exposed to all the wind rain and cold air. Plus having everyone sitting on top of each and it seems to be very difficult for people who have wheelchairs to have any proper space for them. I witnessed so many people feel like they were in the way and kept apologizing for their chair. They should not have to be uncomfortable because this hospital did not take disability accommodations in consideration when they made this decision. I hope you would open it up so everyone can feel safe and comfortable. I hope this hospital treats their staff with respect and appreciation because they all play a part in saving lives.
As a patient for almost 2 weeks and had 2 surgeries, overall the care and service was very good. Everyone were good hardworking people. Doing the best they could with minimal help available to them. Ms Rosie with house keeping a very outstanding employee, her kindness and good spirit was inspiring. My favorite PCT was Arron Walker this young man put his whole heart out there in performing his duties and putting great attention to my needs. As a businessman I recognize Arron as a great asset to your hospital. All the staff nurses and doctors treated me very well.
I went to the sixth floor behavioral health inpatient unit. I spent about two days there. The care I received was generally good. I will say, half the people working there are very nice and want to accommodate you, while the other half treat you like you've done something wrong for being there.
What was most negative about my experience was the way that the hospital refused to accommodate my IBS diet. I need to eat only certain things. At first, in the TU, i asked one of the nurses for a custom meal and they provided it to me. Grilled chicken with vegetables, so I know it is possible. But when i went to the sixth floor, they said I had one of two options on the menu, both of which I often couldn't have. I got by on some of the times I got lucky with main meals I could have (such as barely-spiced chicken) and eating side dish lettuces. I would have stayed longer but because of the food situation they decided to discharge me. This situation does not sit well with me. It is dangerous and puts me and others like me at higher risk for suicide because it makes it feel like we have nowhere to turn. I wasn't asking for the moon, I just wanted plain grilled chicken and vegetables on the side to keep my stomach calm. They discharged me because it was apparently impossible to do.
Like I said, it was a mostly positive experience (despite things like the showers overflowing into the main bathroom area every time they were used, without a central drain being present, which meant you had to pile on towels), but I am left feeling like I have no recourse if I am in a mental health crisis. This doesn't sit right with me at all, and I know it is putting others like me in danger, as well. I did nothing wrong by being there and needing help, and I shouldn't be treated like a prisoner for needing a certain diet. If I am in a mental health crisis, what do I do now that I know this place isn't an option? There must be some other way of doing things.
