I'll be honest, i came to CHLA terrified, exhausted, with nerve pain burning at a 10/10 with no diagnosis and no answers. I left with a diagnosis, a real treatment plan, three free books, and genuinely feeling like a human being again. That doesn’t happen by accident. The staff here are wonderful! one of my care providers– Linda, an absolute gem, had the warmest bedside manner i’ve encountered in any medical setting, complimented my eyes and my hair, and made me feel seen every single time. Dr. Smith sat with me, chatted like an actual person, and gave me a hug that honestly meant more than he probably knows. That’s not something you expect from a doctor and it stayed with me. The psychiatry team, especially Dr. Otu, took time to actually TALK to me — explained medication options thoroughly, answered every question with patience, and even met my cat over the phone. Pain management was amazing, and finally gave me the diagnosis and medication, advocated for real treatment without dismissing me. The amenities genuinely surprised me! Spacious private room (if you're lucky, otherwise you have a roommate), private bathroom, comfortable bed, and rotating and pivoting touchscreen TV. They also have a playroom for children under 12. For adolescents, they have a recreational room with gaming consoles, board games, cards, and puzzles. They also give you a FREE book to keep every single day. The food? Incredible for a hospital. Those fries alone deserve their own review. CHLA feels like actual care, and makes you feel at home. 10/10 would get admitted again 💜
This hospital was absolutely great! They treated my son so good and were being the sweetest with me. Shout out to the attending physician Dr Yu I believe and every nurse on her team. Yall were the best. Not a single bad moment.

In 2020, my daughter underwent eye surgery at this facility, and the level of professionalism and attentiveness she received was truly commendable. Recently, my son was diagnosed promptly with an inflammatory infection through endoscopy, colonoscopy, and MRI. The doctors and nurses acted quickly, initiating treatment immediately.
The expertise and compassion displayed by your staff have left a lasting impression on me. I wholeheartedly recommend your facility to any parents seeking fast, effective treatment and care for their children.
One of the best hospital experiences we’ve ever had. Doctors and nurses are all amazing. They exemplified professionalism and care to the highest degree. Special recognition to Aspen, Liz, Carly and Olivia in Duque 5 for taking such wonderful care of my son when he had his appendectomy.
We came to CHLA Friday morning & were taken care of by Anthony, Molly, & claudia. (And many others that i didn’t catch their name. )
I cannot tell you how much these nurses helped our time here. Our son needed emergency surgery & i as a first time mother was devastated. All of these nurses really made our few days here better than it could have been. Not once did they leave our room without asking what we else we needed. They all made us feel like family. Thank you so kuch you everyone who helped us. And that you for all the ice we requested lol
My family and I love children's hospital. It is literally the best hospital to bring children to. They always have gifts for our daughter like coloring book crayons and playdough. The dogs they have for the patients are amazing as well. We highly recommend the hospital. The nurses and doctors are very professional especially Laura Lewis
ER Waiting time is long, but once my son was seen the doctor was great. Nurses a little careless but it's the first time this happens. People in the waiting room looking for some snacks at the vending machine but it's empty. It's been like that for a while, I know cause we were here last month. With the waiting times, kids go hungry, but zero options. And the fridge is running but empty. (What about saving energy California?)
Don't expect to be in and out soon. Pack a snack and be ready to stay at the hospital for 10 hours minimum, from check in to discharge.
