I’ve been a treated by this practice for about a decade now, for both routine appointments and occasional emergency dental work, all of which has always been completed to a high standard.
The reception team are always friendly and helpful; and the clinical staff are highly skilled, caring, good at explaining my options and putting me at ease. I have always had great service from everyone involved in my care and am very happy to be a patient here.
Access to a trustworthy and competent NHS dentist is truly a godsend, especially now when shortages mean that not everyone is so lucky.
I have mixed feelings about my experience.
I needed an emergency appointment after an old filling fell out from one of my premolars, causing significant pain. My usual dentist was on holiday and is currently quite far from where I live, so I contacted New Cross Dental Practice. They were able to offer me a private appointment within 24–48 hours, which I appreciated. The booking deposit was £50.
When I arrived, I was seen exactly on time, and the practice itself appeared clean, professional, and well organised.
However, my experience with the dentist was less positive. After taking an X-ray, he immediately told me that I would most likely require a root canal treatment followed by a crown. I explained that I had previously had extensive dental work carried out and asked whether it would be possible to first treat the immediate problem by replacing the missing filling and seeing whether the pain resolved before considering more invasive treatment.
After further examination and some drilling, the dentist told me he was "100% convinced" that the tooth required a root canal and said he would only place a temporary filling. By the end of the appointment, I was charged an additional £100, bringing the total cost of the visit to £150 for an examination, X-rays and a temporary filling. I was advised to leave the temporary filling in place for up to three months and was told that if I returned to this practice, the only option would be to proceed with a root canal and crown treatment.
The temporary filling worked very well and the tooth felt completely normal again, with no further pain. However, because it was only a temporary solution, I visited my regular dentist two weeks later for a second opinion.
Following another X-ray and further investigation, my usual dentist concluded that the tooth did not require a root canal. The filling was not close to the nerve and the tooth was otherwise healthy, so a permanent filling was completed instead.
As a result, I was left feeling frustrated that the first recommendation I received was for treatment costing well over £1,300 when, according to the second opinion, it was unnecessary.
While I appreciated the speed of the appointment, the punctuality and the professionalism of the practice itself, my experience left me questioning whether the proposed treatment plan was overly aggressive.
This was undoubtedly the best dental experience I have ever had. From the warm and friendly welcome at reception , to the punctuality of my appointment - I did not have to wait at all. The dentist Reanne was incredibly thorough and took time to listen to my concerns. She was very careful with my teeth but also explained all my options for future treatments. I did not feel rushed and left feeling cared for and in very good hands. All in all, highly recommended.
Dr Ellen as well as the nurses and receptionists at New Cross have completely changed my experience of dentists! Dr Ellen is clear, gentle and explains everything before and as she is doing it. Completely puts me at ease and couldn’t recommend her more!
Easy to make appointments. My dentist, Himmel, is very good, calm, gentle and friendly. He explains treatments and options carefully and clearly. I highly recommend him and this company.
From the minute you walk in you are greeted by such lovely receptionists! I’ve been going here for years and every experience has been positive. The dentists are always so kind and informative which means a lot from someone who gets very nervous with anything medical related.
Visited the Dental Practice for the first time and was impressed! The dentist was knowledgeable, explained everything clearly, and made me feel at ease. The clinic was clean and modern. Highly recommend for an stress-free dental experience 😊. Thank you
I had my first appointment at New Cross Dental Practice today, and I am thoroughly impressed! From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which helped ease my nerves. The dental nurse was very professional and made sure I was comfortable throughout the appointment.
Dr. Hajirah Mir was outstanding. Although I was a bit nervous, she immediately made me feel at ease. We discussed my teeth grinding issues and explored options like a mouth guard, as well as Botox for the Masseter muscle in the future. Dr. Mir took the time to explain everything clearly, which I really appreciated.
Additionally, I was referred for wisdom tooth removal, which I’m grateful for, especially after a bad experience with a previous procedure. It’s reassuring to know that we’re addressing the issue before it becomes more serious.
Overall, I’m very happy with my experience and am confident I’ve found a dentist I can trust for my ongoing care. Highly recommend!
