I was very impressed on my last visit. I was seen on time for a check-up despite it being near the end of the day, the dentist was very friendly and reassuring and I was in and out quickly. Good location and opening hours too.

In general have had a fairly poor experience here and would not recommend it. Generally quite rude and hard to deal with. They misdiagnosed and downplayed a serious gum condition I had, despite advocating for myself quite incessantly, and suggesting it might be the condition that eventually was confirmed elsewhere. Hygienist treatments have been rushed and not as thorough as I have had elsewhere for around the same price. Most recently I had missed a hygienist appointment due to a fairly intensive surgery with complications (entirely on me for not notifying them in advance in their defence). I reached out to try and rearrange the appointment, they threw the book at me, charged me a £45 fee and couldn't make any kind of exception - it is policy, but disappointing and very impersonal. I won't be going back.

My availability is tricky and she has always made my appointments work. I also have highly sensitive teeth and she is always mindful of that. Any emergencies I could contact her straight away and always got a response. I couldn’t recommend her more highly, she’s been amazing!

I have been a patient at Clapham South Dental since I was a child (over 20 years), back when the practice was located directly above Sainsbury’s before the recent rebrand and move next door. Because of this long history, I can confidently say that the dentists themselves have always been excellent. Every dentist I’ve seen has been professional, kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. That is the only reason this review is not one star. Unfortunately, the reception team is the complete opposite, and over the years it has only gotten worse. I have never encountered such a consistently rude, dismissive, and unempathetic group of receptionists anywhere, not exaggerating. Simple interactions feel uncomfortable and hostile. Basic manners are missing, empathy is non-existent, and conversations are often handled with an attitude that makes you feel like an inconvenience rather than a patient. In the space of just three months, my appointments were cancelled by the practice four separate times, with no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to compensate or prioritise rebooking. During this period, I was also dealing with serious personal and medical difficulties following the loss of my father. Despite explaining this, I was met with scripted responses like “I understand, but…” followed immediately by something incredibly insensitive or dismissive. Ironically, when I needed to cancel once due to these circumstances, I was told I could no longer attend the practice. This level of hypocrisy is shocking, especially when the practice itself had repeatedly cancelled on me without consequence. There is also a complete lack of professionalism at the front desk. Receptionists frequently speak amongst themselves while patients are waiting, creating an unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment. Over the years, I have interacted with every receptionist there, and the experience has been consistently negative across the board. It is genuinely upsetting that a practice with such brilliant dentists is let down so badly by its front-of-house staff. After more than two decades of loyalty, I left feeling disrespected, unheard, and disposable. I would strongly recommend the practice only if management seriously reviews and retrains the reception team, because patients deserve basic courtesy, compassion, and professionalism — especially during difficult times.
