Heartfelt Gratitude to the Coombe Hospital Team
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire team at Coombe Hospital for the exceptional care, support, and professionalism shown to us throughout our journey.
For more than five years, my wife and I had been trying to have a baby. During that time, we visited more than ten countries seeking medical advice and treatment, but unfortunately, we did not receive the positive results we had hoped for. It was a long and emotionally challenging journey for our family.
However, when we first visited Coombe Hospital, we felt a sense of hope that we had not experienced before. The kindness, encouragement, expertise, and care provided by your team gave us confidence to continue our journey. Every member of staff treated us with compassion, respect, and understanding, which meant so much to us.
We are delighted to share that our baby was successfully delivered on 3rd June, and our happiness is beyond words. This is one of the most precious moments of our lives, and we truly believe that the dedication and support of the Coombe Hospital team played a significant role in making our dream come true.
Our entire family is overjoyed and grateful. We will always remember the outstanding care we received and the positive impact you have had on our lives. Please convey our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in our care.
Thank you once again for helping us achieve what we had hoped and prayed for over many years. Your efforts, compassion, and commitment will never be forgotten.
With heartfelt thanks and appreciation,
Muhammad Yamin & Family
I had a disappointing experience at the hospital reception. The staff member on duty was quite rude and dismissive in how he spoke to several visitors. The communication style felt inconsistent, as some people were allowed through quickly while others were stopped without clear explanation, which felt unfair and poorly handled.
Visitor guidance should be explained politely and consistently to everyone. Even when rules must be enforced, respectful communication makes a big difference.
Parking was also very inconvenient. The payment machine was not accepting cards and only cash was accepted, which is not practical today. This should be clearly fixed or communicated in advance.
Overall, the hospital services may be good, but front desk behavior and visitor handling need improvement.
Dr mark Hehir was one of the most down to earth caring consultants and honestly I couldn’t have done my pregnancy without him. Previously after having a traumatic birth of 25week twins in a different hospital and neglected care, the care I got in the Coombe was excellent I was riddled with anxiety and trauma . I went private and it was faultless, no chances taken I had 2 stays for precaution, an elective section which was completely different experience from the emergency one before. When I got to my room after my section the nurses was all so so lovely and honestly it was one of the nicest experiences and I’m sad it’s all over which I never thought I’d would say. The hospital itself and my room was spotless and each and every nurse I met was so lovely. Yes the wait for the car park is a bit of a nightmare and you need to give urself at least an hour to wait outside but once u no this u can plan, the security outside are probably not overly helpful or friendly but you obviously don’t have much dealings with them. You will obviously have faults anywhere if you are looking but I was so appreciative of Dr mark for his care and compassion, his sectary Jen too was an absolute diamond and all the lovely nurses and I can never thank them all enough for a beautiful positive experience which I never thought I’d get to have.
I had such a positive experience giving birth to my baby at the Coombe hospital, thanks to the incredible maternity team.
Emma was kind, supportive, and truly made me feel safe throughout. During delivery, Emma, Dr Tasha(I hope I have the name right )and another midwife took such great care of me, and I felt supported every step of the way.
A special thank you to Sharon, who went above and beyond during a home visit her kindness meant so much to me.
I’m so grateful to all the staff for their compassion and support. I will never forget it.
Fantastic experience as a first time mother. For such a high volume of public patients we were so impressed at the attentiveness from the staff and had a very positive birthing experience. The midwives work so hard and I’ll forever be grateful for how they made me feel during such an intimate moment of my life. Big shoutout to Obstetrician Maeve - you’re amazing 💗
Very happy with the treatment my wife has received, very unhappy with the treatment I have received as a father. my wife is scared, it is our first baby and I like to accompany her to appointments as she gets nervous and finds it difficult to express herself when this happens, she is terrified of needles and they have already taken several blood samples from her. Bringing a baby into the world is something that should be shared as a couple, especially when both parties are fully involved, but this hospital completely leaves the father in the background. They do not allow us to be with our partner during difficult moments, such as when something is not going well. She has to be alone in A&E, waiting for hours, while you are scared outside in a freezing waiting room near the door. Here, only the mother and baby matter. For this hospital, you are little more than a sperm donor whose job is done, and they don't care if you are worried about your wife or baby. You are not allowed to wait with her or accompany her to appointments. Your place is outside, waiting alone.
If we have another baby, I don't think we'll be coming back to this hospital. Great with mothers, terrible with fathers.
I arrived outside the hospital at 9am, it was 10:28am when I finally got through the ticket gate to park within that time only 6 cars managed to turn in and park.
This place looks like a prison, built in 1826, apparently we are still in 1826. The staff are rude here on top of things. I would honestly rather give birth in mount joy then ever come here, with the time it took me to get in here everyone queuing already wrote a their final words to their families, I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemies, North Korean prison camps have better facilities then this place. The rooms in here look like prison cells as if we were still living in the troubles. What a sick joke, it feels like some sort of psychological torture coming here.
Anyone giving this place 5 stars has to be evaluated in a psychiatric institution.
I'm very glad I'll never attend this hospital again if you don't want a traumatic birth I'd recommend a different hospital
The way I was treated here throughout my whole pregnancy and labour birth and post partum care was disgusting to say the least this hospital do not care about their patients especially their young patients.
On the 7th of October my waters started to leak at home and I rang the hospital and was told not to come in that it wasn't my waters leaking even though I was also having cramps I told them yes it is my waters and I was told again not to come in
Cramps were getting worse throughout the morning and I knew I needed to go in I have a high pain tolerance when it come to cramps as I have endometriosis but these were getting stronger and more intense.
So at 3pm we drove to the hospital arriving at around 3:30-3:45 where they had me in the treage they left me sitting in the waiting room for half a hour before bringing me into a room to get assessed.
Was brought into a room was getting assessed where they told me yes my waters were leaking she got monitors on me and contractions were 3 minutes apart but they didn't bring me up to the ward because the baby wasn't moving.
They left me on the monitor for 2 and a half hours before bringing me to the ward
They brought me to the ward anyway where the pain got 10x worse and one of the nurses offered me a paracetamol
My father came up to the hospital to see me so I managed to go down see him with my partner and when I got back to the ward the pain was unbearable the nurse told me take a hot shower as it will help the pain so I tried that as the pain was unbearable and shocker I did not work
She put a monitor on me and contractions were 30 seconds apart she never checked to see how dilated I was at all at this point I was screaming crying in pain I feel so bad to all the other woman on that word that night who had to deal with my screams
I have a congenital heart defect and due to the amount of pain I was in my heart was slowing down I kept telling the nurse I've to push and she said I wasn't ready she never checked me
I told her if I don't push I'm going to die she ignored me over and over again
At 10:55pm she eventually brought me into the delivery room where my oxygen dropped right down to 40% my body was giving up I was 10cm dilated when I was brought into the delivery room
They asked if I wanted the epidural I said yes not knowing that you can't get it after a certain point in labour
They put me in oxygen and I started pushing and had the baby at 11:24pm
Was brought down to a different ward at 2am and was dragged out of the bed at 5 to go on a walk the nurse that dragged me up out of bed sprained my ankle.
It wasn't until I was discharged from hospital I was told they cut me during my birth and I hemorrhaged I can't remember how much blood I was told I lost but it was a lot.
The most traumatic thing I ever went through and very traumatic first birth
I will never go back there again
