I visited St. Columcille’s Injury Unit after badly crushing my knee on Wednesday. While there’s always a bit of waiting in hospitals, I found it much quicker here compared to others. The doctors and nurses were exceptionally friendly, professional, and attentive. They were also very mindful of the stressful experience, doing their best not to make it worse, unlike some other hospitals I’ve been to, such as St. James’s (which, in my opinion, is one of the worst in Ireland). So far, I’ve had a couple of visits and still have a few more appointments to go. Every time, the staff have been careful, patient, and kind. They dressed my knee quickly and gently, knowing how painful it was. It’s about a 30–40 minute drive from where I live, but it’s totally worth the distance. I genuinely recommend this place if you need urgent care that’s both efficient and compassionate.

Attended St Columcille’s Injury Unit, Loughlinstown on 25 January 2026 with a GP referral for removal of an abscess on my eyebrow. The receptionist took the referral to a doctor and returned to say they would not do the procedure. No explanation was provided. When I pointed out that their own website states they treat minor facial injuries and small abscesses and boils, I was repeatedly told “they won’t do it,” without any clinical reasoning, assessment, or alternative advice. The receptionist’s manner was dismissive and unprofessional. Refusing a GP-referred abscess removal that clearly falls within the unit’s stated scope of services, and offering no explanation or guidance, is unacceptable. Very disappointing experience and poor patient communication.

Superb care in a relaxed & friendly atmosphere. I cannot thank staff enough at Loughlinston Injury clinic for your care & kindness today. My 81 year old Mom had fallen, turns out both wrists were broken & after having an x-ray in the unit she was given casts on both wrists. The loveliest doctor from Iraq (sorry we didn’t get his name) made her feel so safe & cheered her up immensely. Physio care was wonderful too, amazing facility, thank you

St Collumcille's hospital is a series of lack of organisation. Canceling appointments without calling patients, no idea what they're doing, and no rush to figure it out. It's like a game of hot potato. I missed work to be here, I don't want to talk football with the doctor, I want to be seen and leave asap.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness and warmth. The entire staff—from reception to medical care—was incredibly caring and supportive. A special thank you to Dr. Syed and nurse Margaret for their compassion, professionalism, and positive energy. They even made my fiancée laugh during the procedure, helping her feel relaxed and pain-free. We are truly grateful for the genuine care we received and highly recommend this hospital from the bottom of our hearts.

The wait time for here is impressive, they are really efficient and staff are kind and helpful, I attended here mid week morning for an xray and I was in and out in 20 minutes not sure where else you would get that.

Physio section is excellent, unfortunately in main wards, there is constant understaffing and staff are trying to look after some patients who need a more suitable unit .

8 years of waiting, and they found nothing, and after five and a half hours. They'll probably invite you for another appointment, and they'll find nothing again. Well, you could just say that the Irish healthcare system is really screwed.
