Cork University Maternity Hospital is an outstanding hospital with excellent healthcare professionals and exceptional standards of care. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone at CUMH. We have been here three times, and every single experience has been exceptional. We feel incredibly lucky that all of our babies were born here. The doctors and midwives are simply amazing. They are not only highly professional and skilled but also kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring. They treat every mother, baby, and family with such respect, patience, and warmth. Even during the busiest moments, they always make you feel safe, supported, and listened to. Looking after mothers and newborn babies is an incredibly demanding job, but everyone at CUMH does it with dedication, professionalism, and kindness. We have never experienced such outstanding care anywhere else. Thank you for everything you do every single day. You help bring new lives into the world while making families feel cared for and supported during one of the most important moments of their lives. We will always be grateful to the wonderful team at CUMH. You are truly exceptional.❤❤❤🫂

I had a very disappointing experience at Cork University Maternity Hospital during my recent admission for surgery with the Gynaecology Day Ward/Theatre. My procedure had been booked well in advance, yet despite this I was left fasting for over 20 hours with very poor communication regarding delays. I followed all instructions given to me, including fasting from midnight and preparing for surgery early in the morning, expecting my procedure to take place at 7am. Throughout the day, I repeatedly asked for updates and was continuously told the surgery would still happen, meaning I was not allowed to eat or drink properly. Later, I was informed the surgery may not even happen that day. After more than 20 hours fasting, this caused significant weakness, discomfort, stress, and distress. What was particularly upsetting was being told the delay was related to arranging blood, despite this risk already being discussed during my pre-operative appointment days earlier. I do not understand why this had not been organised in advance. To make matters worse, after keeping me fasting and waiting the entire day, the surgery was ultimately cancelled at the end of the day. This was extremely upsetting and felt very unfair after everything I had already gone through physically and emotionally. I understand emergencies and delays can happen in hospitals, but the lack of communication, planning, and consideration for patient wellbeing was extremely disappointing. Patients deserve realistic updates, proper preparation, and care when fasting for such long periods. I hope the hospital reviews its processes so that future patients are treated with better communication and consideration.

I would like to thank the wonderful staff who looked after me this morning for a small procedure on the 4th floor in CUMH Ambulatory Clinic. Made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. In and out of hospital within an hour and half. Such kind staff! Thanks again for everything.

A disaster, incompetence. If you are lucky enough to have a normal pregnancy, it is wonderful, if not…. There is no competent doctor to do an ultrasound, to see something clearly on that screen. I had placenta previa and they only discovered it after they tore it out. That meant hemorrhage 2 l of blood, and traumatic experiences. That is because they only know how to listen to the baby's heartbeat. They do not differentiate between the baby, placenta, cord, fluid. It has been 3 months since this cesarean section during which I bled for 9 weeks. Then the break for 4 days and after that the bad bleeding started again, I have been to the emergency room countless times. They are not able to treat anything seriously again, they only know how to do the hemoglobin and infection marker. Although the problem is internal and a serious consultation and scan are absolutely necessary. I've passed the 3 months postpartum and blood and clots are flowing from me in a joy. The only advice was to take paracetamol in case of pain.I asked if I'm safe to fly by plane, to get to my country, to a competent doctor. The answer?! I don't know, I can't predict the future. Finally, I was diagnosed with postpartum endometritis in my home country and I had a curettage for placental remains. I wonder, what happens to the women who don't have my luck to leave for another country and save themselves? Four and a half months of agony and bleeding, life turned upside down, and the inability to care for my children. Hours spent at their doors only to be treated with indifference. I hope something changes for future moms.

I had a hysteroscopy performed on the 4th floor of the Ambulatory Gynecology Department at Maternity Hospital. I'd like to thank all the staff who performed this procedure. You are simply wonderful, professional in every way. I don't know your names, but heroes are usually nameless. A wonderful team of women who do a wonderful job every day. Forever in my heart. Thank you

Very good hospital. Best services. The building is spacious. Well behaved people. The only issue long waiting time and I dont blame it to the hospital rather than it's part of the Irish creepy healthcare system. But overall lovely maternity hospital in the whole region as well as in Ireland.

I’ve only been there a few times for exams and scans, but my experience has been great. Rebecca, the midwife, is amazing very kind and helpful. Ann, the sonographer, is also wonderful and very kind. The front desk staff are helpful as well. Thank you all for the great work you do.
