After many years of very successful sustained treatment for our pet under the care of the Veterinary Team at SkinVet Ireland, we can’t believe it’s taken us quite so long to write this review!
Following four years of primary care and specialist dermatology referral for chronic skin problems, our little rescue dog, Odette, continued to deteriorate with an ever worsening condition of her skin and decreasing Quality of Life. We had sadly reached the point of considering euthanasia as no further solutions to successfully treat her debilitating itch could be offered by the multi-disciplinary teams in both general practice and veterinary dermatology referral. By chance when on holiday we sought veterinary care for her and were recommended Kathryn and her team, we immediately dismissed that another veterinary referral would be any more successful than previous… how wrong we were!
From the moment of first contact, the team at SkinVet Ireland operated seamlessly. While awaiting her appointment, Kathryn remotely coordinated interim treatments and solutions with Odette's GP vet, bringing immediate relief from her symptoms. By the time of her first appointment, Kathryn had already achieved greater improvement in Odette's quality of life than any of the practitioners who had been reviewing her case regularly (averaging two to four clinic visits per month) had achieved in four years.
The team at SkinVet Ireland are experts in their field and bring with their expertise and excellent knowledge an approach of kindness, compassion and caring for their patients. Everything about their clinic is patient focused, from the design and setup of their consultation rooms, to their approach to every patient as unique individuals, especially seen when considering their diagnosis, treatment options and patient handling. The team’s approach extends beyond the consultation room, with regular follow up and support ensuring improved welfare outcomes for their patients, Kathryn was so generous with her support to achieve the best outcomes for Odette and is the master of navigating challenging dermatology cases and putting together the ‘puzzle pieces’ to provide the most impactful and holistic approach to treatment and care for patients.
Most notably following commencement of treatment with Kathryn, so many people commented on the changes in Odette, not just in her appearance but her overall demeanour, moving from a withdrawn little dog to one who, now free of discomfort, engaged with people, greeting people at the front door, playing and sometimes even accepting petting (unheard of before!) and was generally much more relaxed. The successful treatment with Kathryn reduced dramatically the degree of veterinary visits required (to once or twice a year) and improved other aspects of life for Odette such as car travel which she had previously become increasingly anxious of surrounding repeated veterinary visits and associated pain/discomfort.
That said we cannot recommend Kathryn and the team enough and have no hesitation in doing so, the team are friendly, open, approachable, professional and always go one step further for clients and patients alike, we cannot thank them enough. An honourable mention must also go to Claire, whom no matter how busy always dropped everything to arrange repeat medication orders, appointment bookings and much more, ensuring everybody was well looked after! You will not find a better team on the island of Ireland and we are incredibly fortunate to access to such an incredible female owned business in the little pink cottage in Middleton, Co. Cork, they have a model all should aspire to.
Amazing! Our dog Harry had been suffering with recurrent ear infections for many years and nothing we tried was working long-term. After 1 visit to Kathryn and her team earlier this year, we are so happy they are now under control. Book your pet to see her, you won't regret it.

First class service from the Skinvet team - especially Kathryn. She recognised my dog's symptoms straight away and provided expert advice. But it was the after-service that really impressed me; without me asking she regularly kept in touch to check on progress and suggest further treatment. I have no reservations in giving them a 5-star recommendation.
The Skinvet is absolutely amazing, we have gotten such amazing care for our dog even a year later. Our dog Ivy had to get injections each month due to a range of skin and ear conditions. That all stopped once we went to the Skinvet and were given a simple routine that actually works. Ivy is a much happier dog all because of the Skinvet. I would make the long trip over and over again to get the care that we did.
Our cat Snuggles was suffering with cysts in her ears. She was in pain, smelling very bad as the cysts were opening and oozing and she was very withdrawn and had low energy. She had one ear canal removed by a different vet as this was the only treatment we were advised about, but when the other ear got really bad the local vet advised removing the other ear canal too. We couldn't believe this was the only treatment for this. Leaving our cat practically deaf.
When we did our own research we found skinvet and reached out, we sent pictures and a description of Snuggles ailment. Skinvet Midleton got back to us straight away and said they can help. This would mean our Cat would keep her hearing and treat the issue too.
Kathryn and the team in Skinvet Midleton were absolutely fantastic. I can't recommended them enough. The surgery went brilliantly, the after care was second to none (unlike the local vet we used that recommended such a traumatising solution).
They really took care of Snuggles and were so professional, caring and really changed our cats life. Now Snuggles can hear, she's doing great, her quality of life is excellent. Shes never been so full of life.

I attended Kathryn in Skin Vet (Midleton, Co Cork) in January 2025. Really I had no expectation of this clinic as I had sought treatment for my cat many times with no result or improvement. I had accepted that my beautiful cat was going to remain with this dreadful open wound on his face.
We attended with Kathryn. She was kind, curious, explained everything, without any rush or fuss. She diagnosed an infection, put the cat on a 12 week treatment plan. And 12 weeks later my cat is fully healed. Kathryn stayed in contact every week, more often at the beginning. And price wise, I thought the clinic was very fair in their pricing.
I will certainly use Skin Vet again. I am very grateful to Kathryn’s knowledge and intervention for my cat, Charlie.

This truly is a wonderful clinic. Skin issues with pets can be so very difficult to diagnose and treat. But this speciality clinic, with it's expert staff, are fully equipped to do both. I truly cannot recommend them enough.
