I would highly recommend Iona Physiotherapy. I went to David O’Regan with very painful wrists and shoulders and with a treatment plan of gentle exercises, supports and rest, they improved. My wrists and shoulders are now stronger and the pain is gone. What I like about it is the holistic approach, you are looked at in the round to find the cause of this pain. And it’s not about medication, it’s about gentle exercises that are very manageable and help you in the long term. I think Physiotherapists are miracle workers, maybe even magicians!☺️
I attended Ciara Shields at Iona Physio for rehab treatment on my spine following significant damage caused by discitis, and a protracted stay in hospital. As Ciara was the person who initially sent me for a spine MRI when my condition had been misdiagnosed by a consultant, I had no hesitation going back to her for the rehab. The in-depth knowledge and professionalism which Ciara showed in managing my rehab so far has got me from a position where I could barely move my back to being able to lead a practically normal and active life. There is still a way to go, but I now expect to make a full recovery, which seemed inconceivable at one stage. Having been with Iona Physio previously for some other accidents and ailments (hamstring, Plantars) I knew Ciara and her colleagues were experts in their field, but given the level of damage to my spine caused by the discitis I can honestly say that the treatment I have received over the past 12 months has been life-changing. Obviously, I would not hesitate to recommend Iona Physiotherapy to anyone looking for a top class physio.

My 86 year old mother was debilitated with a pain in her hip - she is normally reasonably active. She was worried she needed a new hip. Ciara very quickly diagnosed it as a tendon issue, that could be fixed with simple exercises and a few minor changes. Great improvements within just 2 weeks, and fully recovered after a few more weeks. Ciara also explained everything really well. So a great experience with Iona Physio.
I went to Ciara with ongoing shin pain after a clear x-ray and MRI and had a really positive experience. She immediately got to the root of the issue, took the time to explain things clearly, and put together a recovery plan that quickly worked. I had pain in my wrists and forearms that was severely impacting my quality of life. Had a few appointments with another physio and did dry needling but saw no improvement. 6 very bad weeks and feeling desperate at that point.. Found Ciara and she was able to diagnose my problem right away, she gave me very practical advice and in only one week had huge improvement and close to full recovery. She is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to ask questions and make sure you follow her advice correctly. Very grateful to her and 100% would recommend.
