My father has been an inpatient at Connolly Hospital on several occasions, and each time the care he has received has been outstanding. From start to finish, the staff are consistently professional, kind, and genuinely caring. While the Emergency Department can understandably be very busy, every member of staff we encountered took the time to explain things clearly and treat my father with patience and respect. That level of compassion makes a real difference during what can be a stressful time. The nursing staff and doctors are exceptional—skilled, attentive, and always focused on delivering the best possible care. The hospital itself is well laid out, clean, bright, and feels safe and welcoming. It’s an environment that truly supports healing and recovery. We are incredibly grateful to have such a fantastic facility close to where my parents live. A heartfelt thank you from all our family to everyone working there.

I went to the emergency department at Connolly Hospital this past Sunday and would like to thank the staff for their care. Everyone was very attentive from start to finish. The nurse was also kind enough to apologize for the wait, which is completely understandable given that it is an emergency service. I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude.

Arrived in Connolly Hospital by ambulance around 6pm. Put in gown. Lab technician came to take bloods. Couldn't get vein. Walked off ill be back. Came with tea,/coffee nurse with me again was to come back. Needed to go to toilet 2hrs later brought. Looked for water still waiting sometime. Don't know how many hanging around nurses station. When I asked how long I'd be 2nd on list, waiting again. I lost all faith in connolly hospital after I was admitted last year. On viral infection I've antibiotics, my hand swelled and it was removed. Dr came to see me, I was due one more. Said no point inserted canula for final dose. I asked for it orally reply we don't have it. What kind of hospital is that

Amazing hospital, such lovely and helpful staff. I was here for a few nights as an inpatient twice in the past 2 months, and both times were very pleasant experiences. A&E took me in after only 5 mins or so waiting due to the severity of my condition, they clearly prioritize based on need and they're so good. The food is really lovely too and I am a picky eater! Thanks Connolly & staff for making my extremely scary experience not so scary and as comfortable as possible!

Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown (CHI at Connolly) is consistently excellent for pediatric needs. The staff are professional and great with kids, making what can be a stressful time much easier. The most important thing to remember is that the Urgent Care Centre no longer operates as a walk-in service. You must book a same-day appointment online (usually via Swiftqueue) before arriving. This system works well to keep waiting times down, provided you have that appointment secured! Highly recommended for minor injuries and illnesses when you need high-quality care close to home.

Absolutely shocking service at James Connolly Memorial Hospital A&E, Blanchardstown. Arrived at 8:30pm with a sprained ankle. Didn’t even reach triage until 9:30pm. Then told to wait until 2am. At that point, after 5 hours sitting in pain, I asked to check whether I was even on the list to see a doctor — only to be told there were still 5 people ahead of me and it could be another 6 hours. So let’s be clear: potentially 11+ hours waiting in A&E for a basic injury, with zero communication, zero reassurance, and zero respect for patients’ time or wellbeing. What exactly are we paying taxes for in this country if this is the level of emergency care? Endless waiting, no transparency, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like a nuisance for needing medical attention. This isn’t just inconvenient — it’s unacceptable. People come to A&E because they are injured, scared, or in pain. Being left for hours on end with no updates and no dignity is not healthcare, it’s neglect. An utterly shocking service that urgently needs accountability and staffing.

Just home after an absolutely awful experience in A&E at Connolly Hospital. We went in around 3 p.m. after my husband had a bad fall at work and injured both his knees. One of them was very swollen and he was in terrible pain. After about five hours of waiting, I went to reception to ask if a nurse could please give him something for the pain. It took a long time, but eventually a nurse came and gave him some pain relief. We went back to the waiting area, hoping a doctor would see him soon. But we kept waiting… and waiting. After more than nine hours, no doctor or anyone else had come to see him. We don’t have a medical card, so we had already paid when we arrived, but that didn’t seem to make any difference. By that stage, my husband was in so much pain he could barely take it anymore. We were both completely exhausted, stressed, and honestly heartbroken by how we were treated. In the end, we had no choice but to leave without him ever being seen. We felt so helpless, humiliated, and let down. Such a disappointing and upsetting experience — we’ll definitely be going to a different hospital in the future.

Yesterday evening, I was there with my 3-year-old daughter. There were many children of different ages, and it was clear that my daughter was the youngest ( their first 2 hours ). Two staff members arrived with a trolley full of colouring books, crayons and stickers to keep the children occupied. One of them — a tall woman with short red hair — deliberately gave items to every child except my daughter. My little girl kept looking at her and said to me, “Mum, I want colours too.” This staff was completely ignored. She is only a child. What fault does she have? This is a hospital, not a place of leisure or shopping. Patients — especially children — deserve humanity, kindness and equal treatment. Sadly, a nurse later treated us with the same attitude, shouting at us and showing clear disgust. As a mother, I felt a level of discrimination I have never experienced before. I keep asking myself: Why so much hatred? Why so much hostility? Do they even know us? Did we harm them in any way? This was my first visit to this hospital, and it will be my last. No parent should ever have to watch their child feel invisible in a place meant to care.
