I honestly can't recommend Shane enough. After going to therapists for a shoulder injury and not seeing the progress I had hoped for, working with Shane has been a complete game changer. The improvement in my shoulder has been incredible — my range of motion and mobility have increased massively, and the pain has reduced significantly. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'm getting back to normal.
What really sets Shane apart is how much he genuinely cares about helping his patients. Alongside my shoulder injury, I've also been dealing with a foot injury. After seeing my GP and waiting on an MRI, Shane went above and beyond to support me. He provided helpful resources, advice, and practical ways to manage and protect my foot, which made a huge difference during what is a very stressful and uncertain time.
Shane is not only incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but he's also approachable, encouraging, and fully invested in your recovery. It's clear that he wants the best outcome for every person he works with. I'm extremely grateful for all his help and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for an outstanding athletic therapist.
I have been attending clontarf athletic therapy for the past few weeks after it being recommended to me by some of my teammates and I must say I highly recommend. Shane is a great athletic therapist who puts a real focus on helping me get back to playing the sport that I love. Traveling up and down to Dublin for college and having a busy college schedule can be difficult to work around but Shane has worked with me in arranging appointments and providing me with exercises to work on when I'm up in college or back home in Donegal. Shane is also great at supporting me throughout my recovery whether it is simply asking about an exercise or having to change an appointment he is always a text away with an answer. After going to Shane for several weeks I have noticed great improvement with my injury and feel greatly supported in my recovery. I would very much recommend clontarf athletic therapy.
I was looking for somewhere to support my rehabilitation after cervical spine surgery to remove a disc that had been pinching on a nerve, causing me to lose power in my arm, leaving me unable to work, unable to lift even a carry stand, and barely able to walk. I had never had any neck or back issues before. I had been training in the gym, fit and active, and then within the space of a couple of weeks I was completely written off. It was a shock I never saw coming, and I was genuinely terrified about where to even begin.
I was recommended to Clontarf Athletic Therapy by my butcher, who Shane had helped return to work after a back injury. I booked online the website is really user friendly and went along for my first appointment.
Shane immediately put me at ease. He showed me around the clinic, including the gym at the back, and told me I would be exercising in there in no time. I very firmly told him I would not be lifting weights again. He ran me through some movement assessments to establish a baseline and took the time to explain exactly what was happening with the cage in my neck — what to look out for and what progress would look like. He then released the muscles, which was sore but felt really good, and gave me exercises to take away.
At my next appointment I met Tori, who was an absolute blessing. She worked closely with me over many weeks, supporting my rehab exercises, doing releases, and slowly but surely building my confidence around movement, mobility, and getting back to life. As I began returning to work on a part-time basis, she helped me manage the practical challenges: commuting, carrying my work bag, desk work and always took the time to explain what she was doing and why. When she started talking about progressing to gym exercises and I found myself avoiding it, she supported me through that with patience and without judgement.
When Tori moved back to the States, she handed me over to Shane and to Willie, who runs the classes at the clinic. I was terrified. Before the handover, Tori sat down with me and Willie for an open and honest conversation about what was holding me back, what I needed to feel safe, and what my goals actually were. Willie came to that conversation with a great deal of knowledge around this type of injury and recovery. He put me at ease straight away, explaining that I would work at my own pace in the classes and that he would supervise my form to keep me safe.
The classes themselves are welcoming, inclusive, and completely unpressured. There is no clique, no competition, everyone is simply there to exercise, and there is a real shared understanding of that. Willie gives just the right amount of encouragement: you feel motivated without feeling pushed, and you are always working to your own best rather than keeping up with anyone else.
I started going once a week, then twice a week. The difference has been remarkable, not just physically but mentally. I had been out of training for a year, and getting back into movement has done more for my mental health than I can fully put into words. I am lifting small weights compared to what I was doing before, and I am at peace with that. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint, and that long-term strength and mobility matter far more than rushing.
I went to Clontarf Athletic Therapy feeling broken — no mobility, no strength, no hope that I could get back to normal life. I am now back working full time, attending classes twice a week, with full rotation and the same range of movement I had before my injury. Shane, Tori, and Willie have the knowledge, the skill, and the genuine care to turn words into action. Every time I walk through the door I feel welcomed, safe, supported, and empowered.
They gave me hope when I had none. They believed in me when I did not believe in myself. I have got my life back.
I’ve started my rehab journey with Musaab.
He is an excellent physiotherapist whom offers a great plan and advice for my knee rehabilitation.
He started our first session with Cupping and muscle distressing then took me in the gym to explain the exercises we are gonna go ahead with.
Musaab also offers information about your injury rehabilitation and set up a plan that suits me and always advice on what the diet/sleep/training times/etc.. should be like while checking in with me on day to day basis.
A great start up and can’t wait for the results
Shane is an excellent physio and a huge resource to Clontarf GAA club. Shane has always delivered a high quality service and shows professionalism and compassion towards his clients. Shane’s experience and attention to detail makes him one of the best. Particularly for that stage of return to play with an injury, I find Shane always knows the right steps to take to get me back on the field with confidence. I’d 100% recommend Shane to any athlete or individual in need of care of an injury.
Shane was brilliant in helping me with my ankle injury. He was really professional, knowledgeable and supportive. He made me feel much more confident and stable going into my hyrox with his help, wouldn’t have been able to do it without him. Definitely recommend!!
I've been struggling with knee pain for months and was diagnosed with baker's cyst. Went to the clinic and was seen by Mosaab. He accommodated me last minute and took great care in examining and getting all the information surrounding my injury. Mosaab showed expertise and advanced knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment plan focusing on decreasing the inflammation and strengthening the muscles involved in the injury. He was able to adapt a treatment plan that fitted in my training schedule which it was amazing and professional. Another great thing about it is that he was able to identify another issue with my hamstrings and he was able to add this to the treatment plan. I strongly recommend his work and also his sports massage and cupping skills were 10 stars.
I've been getting rehab on my knee the past couple of weeks with Shane and Tori. I've gone from having no bend in my knee at all, to weight training and being able to most of the things I used to.
I've felt listened to and supported throughout and I never am nervous to go to my appointments like I usually would be since it's such a friendly and positive environment. My appointments feel well worth the time and money and I always leave feeling ready to take on the next steps in my recovery. Shane is especially generous with his time and knowledge and I'm positive that I will be back to 100% full use of my knee in no time!
