Need a bit of update on waiting area and parking being behind ED entrance can be tricky if you’re alone with a sick child, but nurses and the female doctor that saw my child were absolutely amazing! We had to wait almost 3 hours to see a doctor, hospital wasn’t packed but there were quite a few newborns on the day.

We had a very good experience with the private clinic inside the hospital premises. This review is for the entire hospital, to be honest I felt really bad about the surroundings, as this is a hospital I would expect it to be a bit more clean. You could see cigarette buds everywhere. The hospital is not maintained well. Some staff are not friendly in nature, and others are very good. Overall it is fine. Update: I must say that we had a bad experience with their A&E department. To insert what an A&E department is, they should recruit and add more man power. We waited 11 hours to meet the doctor for our baby and whenever we enquired only answer was that we have many patients. Yes, in hospitals there will be patients. The security officials only care about the rule “only one parent is allowed inside”, they don’t care if someone smoke near the entrance, people not wearing mask etc. And their debit card machine never worked, they will send a letter via post and then we will need to pay the 100€ fees online. Such an inefficient management.

phlebotomy/bloods department are a disgrace. Staff are clueless, they would sooner dismiss and send you home instead of helping you solve an issue with your appointment, should one arise for you. I had to call my GP whilst in Crumlin waiting with my child for her bloods, to be told by the phlebotomy manager that my GP had not sent my daughter's letter over. She insisted that I should have a letter from my GP with me for bloods. My doctor told me on the phone the date, the time and where in crumlin it was sent to, by who it is was sent and that it had been sent on TrustLink. Phlebotomy manager got irritated and dismissed this information and kept repeating that they did not use trustlink (I honestly don't care what they use, it's none of my business nor my job to understand how the hospital communicates with the GP) This was extremely unhelpful and a waste of time and money. Paid the car parking to be told to go back to my doctor with my daughter. Won't be returning here for bloods, the stupidity and ignorance of the staff was shocking.

Amazing Amazing staff, all round, and our little girl received the best care. Really grateful! Thank you St. Joseph's ward.

From the moment we walked through the doors, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. Despite the ER being full and everyone clearly under pressure, the lady at reception treated us with such kindness and patience. She registered us quickly, but more importantly, she made us feel seen and cared for at a moment when we were terrified for our child. When we got to the ward, we were shown to our room straight away, and the nurse who welcomed us was gentle, warm, and incredibly reassuring. Within just one hour of arriving, a doctor was already with my son. That speed, combined with the compassion every staff member showed us, meant more than I can ever express. We have now been here for five days. In that time, our little boy has had surgery, and watching him recover has been emotional—but the nurses, doctors, and every person working here have been nothing short of angels. Their smiles, their calmness, their willingness to explain every detail, and the comfort they offered not only to my son but to us as parents… it’s something we will never forget. We will probably be here for another few days, and while no one ever wants to be in a hospital, I am beyond grateful that this is where we ended up. I cannot praise this hospital and its staff enough. They have turned one of the scariest times in our lives into an experience filled with care, hope, and humanity. I hope we never need hospital care again, but knowing that a place like this exists gives me such comfort. The staff here don’t just do their jobs—they care, they reassure, and they bring light into very difficult moments. For that, we will always be grateful.

Lovely staff and ER department. Our daughter received great care in the ER. & Starling Ward. Parking is definitely tricky!

Referred there by our GP because my daughter had a fever and trouble breathing. Two other children at home recently diagnosed with Mycoplasma. Waited 8 hours to see a Dr., who told us they had no way to test for Mycoplasma. Daughter was running a fever and was told to stand outside in winter with no coat to see if it would reduce the fever. I am not joking. A child, with pneumonia systems, was told to stand outside in winter with no coat to reduce her fever.

I must say the diabetes clinic is amazing very kind staff and always there to help I can't complain! They have helped in every way they can and very lovely nurses and doctors! On the other hand rheumatology! It's a disgrace in there they forget about their patients not just that but misdiagnose you with other serious illnesses that in no way helps what your dealing with. They don't listen to there patients who are the ones in pain and say"i woudnt worry" while I'm in alot of pain and then tell me the the pain killer My GP put me on (because he's the only one listening to me) is not good and that I should go on another one which I was previously on (that didnt work at all) they put me back on and want be to come off the one my GP put me on. And that's only 1 thing! They forget to check in with their patients, don't listen when a medication is making them worse. They don't even communicate with your other doctors either. There clinic is a disgrace! Also no-one in that hospital told me my chemotherapy was upped and left me vomiting so much i ended up in A&E.Don't get me started on the psychology what a disgrace so rude! I don't know how they can expect KIDS to get better when they are so rude and dismissive of our problems they woudnt let me shower but wanted me to go to school! Not to mention people using their pens to move peas around on your plate because you didn't eat them! And nurses trying to give you meds that you were told you were off but no doctor signed it!
