Extremely disappointed with the value and care at this practice.
Charging €120 just for a basic follow up blood test and forcing a GP appointment + blood test package on patients is excessive.
To make matters worse, consultations feel incredibly rushed; you are out the door in two minutes without getting any professional answers, which are the bare minimum you would expect from a qualified GP.
I remember a ludicrous conversation the first time I visited the practice: I started enumerating my symptoms and I mentioned 1 thing about my skin. Dr Dillon interrupted me to say that dermatology consultations were a different price and she kept saying in a loop until the end of the appointment. It was frankly quite shocking.
In my experience, 90% of the conversation consists of the doctors asking personal questions about my home country and telling me about their holidays, while the 10% of the time I get to ask about my health is completely dismissed.
It feels like the main priority here is turnover and profit rather than patient care. Professionalism and work ethics are inexistant.
I will be looking for a new GP and you should do so if you are looking for someone capable of empathy and listening.
I first attended Dr. Dillon a year and a half ago for adult acne and thankfully now my skin is much better and I am much more confident! I had tried different diets, expensive facials, acupuncture, LED masks and multiple products but nothing helped until I attended Dr. Dillon. She is very knowledgeable, professional and kind. I also appreciate how easy and straightforward forward it is to book an appointment.
I do not recommend this GP practice. Dr Sharon arrived 25 mins late to the appointment. She dismissed my questions & concerns to the point that I felt disrespected. She rushed the appointment (it was over in 2 mins). After this experience, I decided to leave this GP practice since I don’t trust that I was in safe hands. They tried to charge me 20 euros to send my data to my new GP (which is against GDPR). It’s best to avoid this practice.
I cant say I had a good experience at my first visit. Dermatologist rushed me through the appointment, saying it was 15 min long, and brushed me off without asking any detailed questions. Even though she saw I was worried a bit regarding my mole but she wouldn`t have learned anything if I had not asked more questions. Moreover she asked me to do preparations before I come to minor surgery, which is entirely the doctor`s responsibility ! As a result, I`m not happy with it how quickly this was handled, and I`m going to back my country to process the matter there. Patient relationships should be given more importance. I don`t think I will come back again.
Dr. Dillon was my gp when I was pregnant; I was a low risk pregnancy and young, no medical issues, and struggling horrifically with nausea. She told me there were no options at all for pregnancy nausea, I believed her. With my second pregnancy and a new doctor, I've discovered that Cariban has been available for years and there was no good reason it was denied to me. I suffered for so many months because Dr. Dillon didn't take my nausea seriously. Medical misogyny is alive and well, even from female doctors
Ultimately, Dr Dillon was simply unprofessional. Let my review to be the one to convince you.
She prescribed me THE most expensive topical cream (€95), just for it to not work for me. This is ON TOP of the BIZZARE price for a “dermatology appointment” (€120); an appointment that only lasted 10-15 minutes. She also told me it was essential that I buy a list of expensive skincare products that I would struggle to find anywhere other than the pharmacy DIRECTLY BELOW the GP office or else the topical wouldn’t work as well. It all seemed like an elaborate money-making scheme to me….
She didn’t really listen to my anxieties or worries about my skin whatsoever, even though I came to her very vulnerable and upset. She didn’t seem to care. As a teenage girl that has battled serious insecurity for years about my skin, I was genuinely rattled by how insensitive and dismissive Dr. Dillion was. She spent a lot of time typing on her keyboard and not even looking at me. She had a horrible temperament to be honest, and came across as really rude. I was honestly FLOORED by the lack of care and empathy she gave me.
I am seeing a new dermatologist now - he was able to prescribe me the correct medication straight off the bat, and my skin has come on leaps and bounds. He makes me feel heard and seen, and he is very empathetic and compassionate. To any teenage girls out there struggling with bad skin, I promise that it will get better! I struggled for 6 years and my skin cleared up within 3 months on Roaccutane. Find a dermatologist that hears your concerns and insecurities, and can find the correct treatment for you based on your history, stipulations and type of acne.
If you’re considering booking an appointment with Dr. Dillion, seriously - think again. What kind of an establishment either has 5 star reviews or 1 star reviews? Consistency is so important when paying this much for medical treatment. Nobody deserves a doctor that doesn’t treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve. Everyone deserves to feel heard, seen and know that their doctor is working to find the best possible solution for them. When you read the other negative reviews, you will see a lot of similar feedback that overlaps with mine. I have a sneaking suspicion that many of the positive reviews aren’t 100% genuine, because how can any doctor’s manner of treatment be so polarising?
UPDATE: A close friend of mine had an even MORE distressing experience than mine with Dr. Dillion after booking in to get her eczema checked out.
I had a fantastic experience at Baggot Street Medical, particularly with Dr. Sharon Dillon. She was extremely professional, regularly checked in to see how I was responding to my medication, and thoughtfully provided advice and recommendations to support my skin throughout my Roaccutane treatment. Importantly, she never pushed unnecessary products or treatments, which I genuinely appreciated.
Additionally, Kristy and Michele were always so warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful when scheduling appointments—they really made each visit seamless and pleasant.
Thanks to the excellent care I received, I'm now off Roaccutane and my skin has never felt better. I am truly grateful for the high-quality service provided here—I can't recommend them enough!
great in a pinch but not recommended if you can wait. I paid the €70 booking for general gp and went in needing a Learners License form signed, a refill on my prescription, and antibiotics. I left with an extra €140 spent to get that all done as it was all necessary to get done within those few days.
The paperwork was an extra fee, the perscription was an extra fee and she didn’t even refill it, only gave me a laundry list of things I needed to do like get an ecg and bloods (which she also offered to do even though I’d not been fasting that day and have very low blood pressure that needs special accommodations to take bloods) before she would refill my daily medication of 8 years, was hesitant on giving my antibiotics, and gave me two less days of antibiotics than the typical course. And it was all rushed, which I don’t usually mind as I only usually need one or two things but the lack of care became quite apparent this time around. People say american healthcare is bad, but this was far more expensive, frustrating, and non-productive than I’ve ever experienced in the states.
