My whole experience with optical express was amazing from start to finish. Each & every member of staff were so friendly & polite & the service was superb. I would like to thank each & every one of them for making my whole experience calming & relaxing from start to finish. Thank you Sinead for your lovely cups of coffee, always brought with a big friendly smile. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend lens replacement surgery by optical express to anyone who is considering it, don’t hesitate!! It’s amazing 👍🏻😍

Had my laser eye surgery here and it was the best thing I ever did! After 17 years of wearing glasses it is amazing to wake up every day and see! The staff are all absolutely incredible, extremely friendly and supportive every step of the way. They are more than happy to answer as many questions as you have a their aftercare advice and care is next level. I would recommend Optical Express Liverpool to anyone!

After much research I finally chose Optical Express for my lens replacement surgery and couldn’t be happier. From the first consultation I felt confident in literally putting my sight in their hands. The surgery is painless and the aftercare has been excellent . I’m delighted with the results , after years and years of poor eyesight I’m just amazed ! Would highly recommend .

From the beginning, the care has been excellent. The facilities are also excellent- state of the art machines, clean, calm and well staffed. Everything is clearly explained to you, as it is happening , and your choices are made clear. They are great at answering any questions you may have and very reassuring. Optical express is a well oiled machine. It has an excellent team who make you feel like their priority. After care is also fantastic. My op was yesterday and I have already had a follow up appointment today. A phone consult has been booked for a week’s time and a face to face , in a month. They are also available at the end of a phone if you have any concerns. Amazing! Thank you .

This was the 2nd attempt to get my eyes done. The 1st time my appointment was booked at Chester branch and before my consultation date I received a call, during the conversation I was told it would not be suitable for me due to driving HGV's. Fair enough I thought. Now 2 years later and technology has improved, I thought I'll try again. Booked my consultation at the Liverpool branch. Arrived on time and 30 mins later tests started. After the tests I was told to wait to see the specialist, which I did. What was advised as a 90 mins consultation was now over 2 hours. I asked how much longer and was told another 30 mins before I get seen too. So if you have an appointment expect it to be at least 3 hours. I did explain before I left that I have to get back for my kids. Quite disappointed tbh, especially when people were coming in whilst I'm waiting and then leaving, having already seen the specialist...

I waited over a year before writing this review because I wanted to give my eyes the full healing period and give Optical Express the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, having LASIK with Optical Express is the biggest regret of my life. Before surgery, I was told I was a “perfect candidate” for iDesign LASIK and reassured that the technology would minimise night vision complications. My eyesight with glasses was already sharp, I simply wanted freedom from glasses and contact lenses so I could comfortably play football, travel, go to the gym, watch films, and live day-to-day life without constantly relying on them. Initially after surgery, my vision seemed crisp during the day, but very quickly I developed severe night vision problems. I experience huge starbursts and glare around lights, ghosting/double vision on text, poor contrast, and extreme difficulty seeing in darker environments. Even basic things like using a computer became difficult due to blur and glow around text. I am a software engineer, so this has had a major impact on both my work and my personal life. At my 3-month appointment, the optometrist immediately told me: “I know the issue your pupils are way too big.” After previously being told I was a perfect candidate, I was then informed that my pupils dilate beyond the treated optical zone in low light, causing the exact night vision complications I was experiencing. This was never discussed with me beforehand, despite apparently being obvious afterwards. I was prescribed pupil-shrinking drops, but they caused intense headaches and eye pain, only worked temporarily, and were not practical to use multiple times every day just to function normally. What made the experience even worse was how difficult it became to get support afterwards. After paying over £5,000 for surgery that severely impacted my vision, I was repeatedly asked to pay £100 additional consultation fees simply to discuss complications caused by the procedure. I eventually met with Dr. Kazmi multiple times. During one appointment he explained my issue by drawing two circles on paper, a smaller treated zone and my larger pupil size outside it, telling me the surgery could not properly accommodate my eyes in the dark. He also told me that my pupils would “shrink with age,” which I later discovered would realistically take decades to make any meaningful difference. At my final appointment, after a year of struggling with these issues every single day, Dr. Kazmi told me there was nothing else he could do. I was advised things like: - “Don’t drive at night.” - “Do you have to go out at night?” - “Why not just get lifts from people?” - “The summer is coming up, I guess you’ll be fine then.” Hearing that after everything I had gone through was honestly devastating. The entire reason I chose LASIK was to gain freedom in my life. Instead, I lost it. I can no longer comfortably drive at night. I struggle to watch films or go to the cinema because dark scenes are filled with glare and halos. I stopped going to the gym because darker rooms and LED lighting make it difficult to see properly. I stopped playing football because the glare around lights and the ball itself makes tracking movement difficult. I avoid restaurants, social events, travelling, and nights out because I genuinely struggle to function in darker environments. I have even had to cancel trips because arriving somewhere at night leaves me effectively unable to see at all. The most frustrating part is not simply that complications happened, every surgery carries risks. It is that I was assured by their team I was a “perfect candidate” without a single check of my pupil size before the surgery. This surgery has permanently changed my quality of life for the worse, and I genuinely wish I had never gone through with it.

Having worn glasses for over 60 years it is amazing that I no longer have to wear them. I had a very complicated prescription that used to cost me around £400 for a pair of glasses so to even be eligible for the surgery was amazing but the real surprise was the quality of my vision post op; I can read, see distance and alternate between the two seamlessly. My lazy eye is still a little weaker than the other but my vision is now as close to 20/20 as it could possibly be. The service was superb; friendly, helpful, conscientious and extended to months after surgery to make sure my eyes were adapting perfectly.and that I was 100% happy with the results. I would recommend Optical Express to anyone and can honestly say that their service has surpassed anything I expected. The change in my vision is remarkable with not just clarity but explosions of colours in places I’d never experienced them before. It really is a life changing move opting for this surgery and to anyone considering it I would simply say “Don’t hesitate; you will not regret your decision!”
