The whole damn crew were polite, friendly and efficient. The room was wonderful and the food was super tasty. A great experience all around, for what should have been a tough time, from the beginning to end. Flavia started the process with aplomb. Diane took my order, for the tasty food to come. Andrea was awesome, throughout, in and out, with clockwork efficiency, a cheerful nature and able to answer all of my questions. The anaethitist, Carsdale and clinician, Venkatesh were thoroughly professional and I felt like they were the most skilled operators, anywhere. Kylie made a flying visit and was a breath of fresh air. Michelle visited me, post op and was reassuring and kind. Mark took me down for X ray and Sraz did the X ray, they were both top class. And then Allyn was wonderful, a real people person, on the way out. Hoping for another surgery soon?!?!
We recently had my little boys (4YO) tonsils and adenoids removed at Nuffield Leeds Hospital. It was amazing! The paediatric team were so good with him, from the pre op assessment, right up to leaving.
On arrival, Emma, his nurse, made him feel comfortable and safe and explained everything that was going to happen in a suitable way for a child and popped the numbing cream on his hand for his cannula (which works amazing!)
We had access to the play room and also had a TV in our room. The team took his order for his lunch for after his op, pizza, chips, jelly and ice cream! We were able to wait in our comfortable and private room whilst he was having the surgery and then he was brought back to us for a little post op nap and lunch. We then received a little gift bag and a certificate upon leaving which was a lovely surprise! Cannot fault it at all! Thank you so much! X
I had an echocardiogram at Leeds Nuffield Hospital yesterday and was looked after by Susan. I honestly can’t thank her enough. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel at ease. She explained everything clearly, never rushed me, and showed genuine kindness and compassion throughout. After everything I’ve been through medically, that level of care meant more than she’ll probably ever know. She made what could have been a stressful appointment feel reassuring and positive. Susan is a real credit to the hospital, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Thank you, Susan. Best Wishes, Faz
I got sent here by the NHS for Endometriosis surgery, and the whole journey from start to finish was incredible. My specialist was honestly the best! All the staff are just so friendly and patient, especially for me who has bad medical anxiety! I can't thank this hospital enough for my care. Honestly the best hospital I've ever been to. Upon arrival, I was immediately shown to my room. From there, a lovely man came and took my final bloods and he was so so gentle with me explaining each step he was doing. From there, the pre checks were nice and quick and informative so I was very clued up on what was going to happen. I was then taken up to surgery by the lovely nurse, and introduced to my surgery team. They were so friendly also, talking to me about my gaming hobbies to keep me calm. The lovely nurse held my hand as the cannula was placed and before you know it I was fast asleep! Woke up in recovery to even more lovely nurses who straight away made me comfy with anti sickness and pain relief before sending me back to my room to my husband as soon as I asked. I was given my delicious sandwiches once I was ready, and helped to the loo before a lovely speedy discharge! I would reccomend this hospital to everybody! So clean and professional, and your needs are instantly met!
Although it had nice facilities and the consultants are great, the hospital seems to have major problems with their booking system and pre-op team.
I had a pre-op in April which I was sent a letter for. The letter had the wrong date and time and the nurse who called me basically berated me for ‘getting it wrong’ even though I followed the letter perfectly. I sent her a copy of the letter via email and she later apologised but she was initially really rude to me for no reason! Then she advised that a second pre-op appointment was booked for later on in the week which I had never been told about… safe to say my workplace was unimpressed by the short notice.
The second time a booking mishap occured, I called and made an appointment over the telephone (for a different consultant) which I was told was on a Tuesday. I turned up having booked a day off work and was told that my appointment was at the same time on Thursday. They told me that no booking confirmation email was on the system. So I wasted a holiday day at work as well as my taxi fare.
Before the operation I mention above, I was told by the pre-op team that (due to my neurodiverse condition) I could ask the night staff for my partner to stay with me overnight. After the procedure when I was on heavy painkillers, I asked if he could stay and the night staff told me it had to be arranged by the pre-op team…. The head nurse was dismissive and rude and spoke to me with no thought or care, she had a ‘not my problem’ attitude. My partner was shocked at how they spoke to me especially considering I’d just had an operation. I suppose in fairness the pre-op team should have sorted this out but to be treated this way after having surgery was really upsetting.
Overall the consultants I’ve seen are great but the actual hospital is badly organised and some of the staff are downright rude. I am going to see consultants at another hospital in future because the experience I’ve had at this one is unacceptable, much worse than anything I’ve dealt with at the NHS. At least if they say you have an appointment you actually have one, they don’t just send you a letter with a random date and time…
Edited to note that I spoke about these experiences with my work colleague and she had a bad experience after an operation too and advised me to go to Spire.
I can honestly say I can not fault the staff and the service. From start to finish. I feel very well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. It also helped my anxiety that my boyfriend could stay with me.
The room was clean, it was a very hot room but the HCA got me a fan which helped.
Thankyou for the excellent care I've received x
I was admitted to Nuffield Leeds Hospital on February 24th 2026 for total knee replacement surgery. Within minutes of arriving I was taken up to the ward and shown my room. The room was clean and spacious with everything you could need. En suite shower room, plenty of storage, TV, WiFi and electric outlets for charging devices.
I was visited by one of my nurses for the duration of my stay and had everything explained as to what would happen on the day.
My surgery was performed at lunchtime by Mr. Venkatesh and I was in the theatre for less than an hour and then in recovery for a couple more.
Returning to my room I was made comfortable and then fed and watered before my first venture out of bed and a short walk with a frame.
I cannot fault any of the staff that I met be they surgical or housekeeping.
My pain was well controlled and a good nights sleep was had.
The following day I was visited by Anthony Burns my physiotherapist who got me on my feet and allowed me to go as far as I was comfortable which turned out to have been a good distance and included stairs. Following that session I was asked if I wanted to go home, at least a day early.
Following my discharge from hospital Anthony gave me exercises to do at home and also made me an appointment to see him two weeks later. I was also given access to Nuffield health gyms to continue my recovery.
I have seen Anthony every two weeks and been challenged to do more each time with clear explanations as to why and encouragement to maintain my recovery. I cannot thank Anthony enough for his support throughout my journey and now at 11 weeks post op I have been discharged from his care to continue my journey.
Nuffield Hospital Leeds have been excellent and would recommend them to anyone undergoing knee replacement surgery.
