I was a member of this gym for a couple of years, and as time went on the services and quality dropped and the price increased.
The management prioritises money over services. Towels gone, cafe closed, prices increased.
A staff member lied to my face when I asked about a Pilates instructor leaving (one of two reasons I continued my membership was her class. I would have left before Christmas 2025 had I been told the truth). It took months for a replacement.
My membership cost went up last year by more than expected, which was bad enough, but to receive an email dated 5th June telling me my membership has been increased since the 1st of June was the final straw.
I’m aware of plenty who left at the start of the year due to membership increases and are now happily at Edinburgh Leisure (which is where I am headed now at a substantially lower cost per month).
The email in return to me cancelling my membership included ‘We value each member and would like to keep our members but we are also trying to run the business.’
Most businesses survive because they provide good service rather than taking benefits away and increasing prices like Nuffield Omni does.
For any staff reading this, thank you for being friendly and helpful when needed, but your management only cares about new members and their discounted rates. 25% off memberships for a year and a free month was offered in May this year.
It’s also been increasingly hard to get into classes via the app and the management need to realise that some members are only there for the classes as they’re not physically able to use the equipment in the gym.
I await the inevitable reply to this review, but am glad Nuffield have forced my hand to leave, because they are not the same gym I joined with wonderful facilities and ample classes.
Shop around people, especially if you plan to use classes more than the gym.
Is there a chance to give zero stars? Cancelling membership, this “gym” should close ASAP! Been here member for nearly 4 years, they first cancelled jacuzzi, then of course towel service, but charging premium membership fees! For what? Dirty, stinky bathrooms, everything smells terribly bad. Showers constantly lacking hot water! Where’s the hygiene? What’s going to follow? Are you going to start charging people for breathing the air??? Or for the use or hot water? No lockers available because people leave padlocks there for days - weeks.. where is the management? Is there anyone else who cares about this place? On a top of that, the equipment is constantly broken.. for months!! Personal taking conducting group sessions on the floor meaning they are taking more than 50% of the space, no chance to train at all… why do you have other 5 studios available? For being empty??? Please shut this place down! It’s not even worth £20…
I really enjoyed my paid drop in experience here and would recommend it to others who are in town short term. A spacious gym with a beautiful view. I had an excellent work out. The welcome at the front desk from Tess was particularly classy and professional. Money really well spent and I could have stayed for hours given the sauna steam and and pool. Another time!

Since leaving i have noted at least 10 members at a more cost friendly gym. Which goes to show they are losing memberships and this is down to management focusing on cost saving rather than service.
I anticipate this gym to close in the next few years if it continues this.
This gym it's declining. They removed services such as towels, jacuzzi, the steam room it's totally pointless not hot enough. Customer service not the best and the cleanliness it's shocking! Changing room are outdated and showers are terrible.
They made some cheap make up recently, but still not the best. Many exercises machines are broken or in bad conditions. The place it's getting smaller. They have big spare rooms for classes, they could add more machines and the prices keep going up.
For the price I pay I expect more in return, much more. Not happy, seriously thinking to cancel my membership.
I've been a member of this gym for well over a decade and it's like a home away from home now. I am very fond of the staff, who are always smiley and keen to help and the fact that so many of them have been here for so long is likely a testament to the working environment there.
Yes, sometimes things break and it's annoying but the same thing has happened in every office I have ever run. In Facilities Management you are often at the mercy of external contractors and I have no doubt the staff get as frustrated as members do when repairs are not dealt with promptly.
As for the cleaning: the female changing room is cleaned to a good standard and the only complaint I have is about the members who leave their mess behind with no consideration for other users. While I miss the convenience of having towels provided, I do not miss having the dirty ones strewn about the place because dropping theirs in the laundry bin on their way out was just too much work for some.
Otherwise, the pool is kept clean and the lighting and warmth gives that space a lovely Mediterranean feel. I know a lot of people were upset when the jacuzzi was converted to a sauna and steam room but the cost to heat the jacuzzi became exorbitant (thank you, Mr Putin) and having these spaces manned full-time by the lifeguard means that they can always be open for use, which was not always possible in their previous locations.
The gym floor is well equipped and the double-floor height of that space is hugely beneficial because the heat rises and you don't cook while you work out. It also prevents the build up of work-out odours, keeping the place smelling clean.
The PT team are dedicated, supportive and fun and possess such a range of specialisms between them that you would be hard-pressed not to find one who can support your specific fitness goals.
Do I wish the prices hadn't gone up so much over the years? Of course I do but I can say that about many elements of my life because everything costs a lot more these days: it is the consequence of living in a badly managed country.
My health and fitness will always be at the top end of my priorities list and - between the facilities, the staff and the sense of community I feel at Nuffield Omni - I am content that I get what I pay for.
Omni center Nuffield gym seemed to me to be a very good place to exercise, I am a member for a couple of years now. Indeed I am in agreement with previous members that service level did go down. Ok, sauna space for women got shut down, no cafe anymore and so on, but they could at least be more friendly with members. Today I was trying to find the right machine in the gym, but one of the personal trainers of Omni did told me off, didn't help when I asked. I wonder why in such an expensive Gym where I pay close to 100£ for membership there is now one in the gym floor from staff who can at least be kind enough to asnwer the question where the right machine is.
I have been a member of this gym for 8 years and the services go downhill. The place is extremely dirty, especially the sinks and the showers. They do not enforce the no-overnight locker-use policy which means, people leave their stuff there overnight blocking lockers. Many of the devices are broken. Sometimes there are not even towels to disinfect the machines. The ceiling in the ladies' changing room has not been repaired for a almost two years. They close the gym unancounced because of drainage problems and fails to notify some members. This place is a disgrace and in utter squalor. It should be shut down for HAS reasons and be redone from scratch. A place like this would never be allowed to be open to members of the public.

After having complained for some time to comply with bare minimum hygiene standards, nothing happened at all - on the contrary - the gym is in utter squalor and the reaction of the manager (Kerri Docherty at the time) after the gym raised the fees by roughly 15% reads as follows:
"The increases in fees are essential if we are to maintain and invest in our clubs, and to support our members in their wellness goals. We continue to offer a full range of services including gym floor access, 1 million class spots per month, and a pool, sauna and steam room."....
"However, I understand that you may not be satisfied with this change. If you do not wish to continue under the revised fee, you are entitled to cancel your membership without penalty by providing me with written notice on or before 15th December 2025."
Has something changed since then? Absolutely, the hygiene is as poor as it can get.
