First time at this hospital as an nyc resident for years and had the best experience in pediatric emergency. They were quick i was out within an hr on a Saturday at around 12pm. Staff and doctor were so polite and cautious and followed up great to make sure they took all the peas out of her nose. My daughter is 2 and She had 5 peas!!! We couldn't believe it! Today's date is July 11th and I jus wish the staff and doctor today get huge recognition for this i am so thankful.
My family and I recently traveled five hours to Jacobi Medical Center to visit my grandfather following a major surgery. He is very ill, and according to his doctors, his prognosis is poor. At over 100 years old, we do not know how much time we have left with him, which made this visit incredibly important to our family.
Unfortunately, from the moment we entered the hospital until the moment we left, our experience was overwhelmingly negative.
When we arrived at reception during visiting hours, I greete an older woman at the desk, who was rude and disrespectful. I simply said hello, handed over my ID, and explained where I/we was going. Instead of being treated with courtesy, I was left waiting in the lobby for an extended period while other visitors were processed and allowed through ahead of me. Apparently there was difficulty entering my information, even though my name was clearly listed on my ID, and another employee eventually had to assist her.
After driving five hours, I was exhausted, emotionally drained, and simply wanted to see my grandfather.
When I finally reached his room, I quietly stood by his bedside speaking softly with him while he was awake and attentive. Without any warning or explanation, an employee in the unit began yelling at me and ordering me to leave the room. I had not spoken to her previously, had not been disruptive, and was simply spending time with my seriously ill grandfather.
Families visiting loved ones in the hospital are often experiencing some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Some of us may be seeing our loved one for the last time. Even five minutes with a family member can mean everything when you are facing the possibility of losing them.
I'm not sure how your staff are trained, but I hope there is a greater emphasis placed on compassion, empathy, and basic human decency. None of us are immortal, and one day every one of us will be on one side of that hospital bed or the other.
Healthcare is about more than medicine and procedures. It is also about humanity.
I ask that your staff remember that the people walking through your doors are not just visitors; they are sons, daughters, grandchildren, spouses, and parents who are scared, exhausted, and trying to hold onto precious moments with someone they love.
If compassion and humanity have been lost somewhere along the way, I sincerely hope they can be found again.
No family should leave a hospital feeling worse because of how they were treated by the people entrusted with caring for others.
It's terrible that once you leave a message to your provider he never answers you back. It says allow 72 hours for respond I send my primary doctor a message 6 days ago I'm still waiting
I called today to schedule an appointment as a new patient. I was told there were no appointments available until June, which I understand. However, before I could ask about alternatives or book a June appointment, the front desk representative hung up on me.
As a potential new patient, this felt very dismissive and unprofessional. I completely understand busy schedules, but I would have appreciated the opportunity to ask about other options, such as being placed on a cancellation list or securing the next available appointment.
I’m sharing this feedback because first impressions matter, and front desk communication reflects the practice as a whole.
This hospital is nice inside the doctors ask you several questions to try to find out what’s going on is very clean. The bathrooms are so clean in the hospital though they definitely need to do better in that department. Also, they have a lot of different programs to help you if you are like on drugs or if you’re depressed or anything of that nature, they will definitely do their best. They can do to help you so far, that’s what I like about them and they are very thorough letting you know that right now they will explore every part of you blood wise you know physically they will ask you questions to make sure everything is OK. They will even go as far as asking you about questions. You may not feel comfortable about Answering, but it’s for your own good on a scale of one to 10 I will give them a eight
The walk-in clinics are the goat! I love going to an appointment and being seen after 5 to 10mins of being there. I’ve had a successful treatment at this hospital and I hope to work here once I become a paramedic! My grandmother also had a positive experience here. She had surgery and she felt comfortable and seen by staff! I appreciate that greatly! Thank you to all medical personnel who make us feel welcome and seen at our visits!
Excellent hospital. Professionalism. Entire personnel seems to have been trained so well with etiquette, Great follow up and attentiveness to all patients. First time ever going to Jacobi hospital and highly recommend it. I wish they had a 10 star option.
Horrible experience. Brought my wife in who was coughing up blood, could barely breathe and was in horrible pain. She was severely mistreated. Thrown into a hallway and none of the staff cared that she was in immense pain. Despite her pain and crying they just continued to mistreat her.
Told her we’re leaving and drove to Saint. Joseph hospital in Yonkers where she got better care.
