I’m really disappointed with the cleanliness and overall condition of this dermatology office. During my daughter’s visit for a minor surgical procedure, I couldn’t help but notice visible dirt and debris around the base of the exam chair. For a medical setting—especially one performing procedures—this level of cleanliness is concerning and doesn’t inspire confidence in their hygiene standards. To make matters worse, the exam chair itself was extremely wobbly and felt unstable. That’s not something you want to experience when your child is about to undergo even a small surgery. It added unnecessary stress to an already nerve-wracking situation. That said, the doctor seemed knowledgeable and was kind throughout the visit, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the front desk staff were extremely rude and unaccommodating, which made the overall experience even more frustrating. On top of that, they failed to submit the proper medical documentation to the insurance provider, which resulted in a large bill that took significant time and effort to resolve. This added unnecessary financial stress after the visit. I expect a dermatology office to maintain a much higher standard of cleanliness, professionalism, and administrative accuracy. While the doctor was a bright spot, the rest of the experience fell far short.

I had such a weird experience. I made a same day appointment and called ahead of time to confirm. Once arrived, there was a girl at the front desk who said my provider is not there and they have to book me with someone else - which should have been mentioned when I called to confirm my appointment but nonetheless. Now I’m trying to check in and apparently they will not check you in unless you consent to leave your card on file which is an OPTIONAL thing. I am not required to leave my card on file . Especially when it states your card will be automatically charged if your insurance doesn’t cover something. everyone knows billing makes mistakes all the time and it’s hell getting a hold of anyone or having things corrected. Medical offices will send you a bill in the mail should something require additional payment after submitted to your insurance. On the form it clearly states you can refuse this at any time - which I stated. And I was informed it’s either I leave a credit card on file or I pay a $100 deposit. I’ve never heard of this before at any medical establishment and it was ridiculous. I asked to speak to a manager , and she told me they could not check me in unless I pay $100 deposit or I leave a credit card on file. I have a great insurance policy , and should only pay a copay. I’ve visited the location in kips bay previously and did not have this experience and was not required to do this ridiculous made up scam of a policy. I ended up having to leave because they refused to check me in . I went to another dermatology office and had an amazing experience. Would never recommend this place and I will be reporting this because you cannot refuse medical treatment due to someone not wanting to leave a credit card on file. Absolutely absurd .

I had the worse experience today. I was also denied for my daughter to see the dermatologist. The manager and another young women at the front desk gave me the run around. After insurance told them the referral would be approved on Tuesday. As long as the referral is approved, my child should be seen 30 days before and 30 days after. They kept telling me she cannot be seen. The young women in the front also told me I would have to pay $250 for my daughter to be seen. My daughter is a prior patient and should only have to pay $150 because she was last seen in 2024. Which is two years ago. I asked the young women why did she lie and say $250. She then told me she didn’t know my daughter was a prior patient, after expressing to me in the beginning of the conversation that my old insurance was health first. This whole experience was overwhelming and I’ve never gone through this before seeing the dermatologist here at this location. It was so bad that they gave me false information telling me another manager can assist me at the BX location. When I called that location, the young lady Michelle didnt let me speak. She went off of what the young lady at the Brooklyn location was saying (the manger, with braids) she also hung up the phone on me. My daughter was not able to be seen today due to the lack of communication from the manager. A child should never be denied to see a doctor. I will be contacting someone higher up to handle this situation. My daughter suffers from eczema and all I wanted was some guidance on how to get it under control. Iam not satisfied on the outcome of this situation.

My only complaint is the prescription process. The office uses ClearRx and Capsule for medication delivery. While the idea is convenient, my experience was frustrating. If a delivery date or time is unavailable, you have to contact your provider again, communicate through an AI messaging system, and wait up to 24 hours or more for the prescription to be resent elsewhere. I wish patients were guaranteed an available delivery date and time before being committed to the Capsule delivery service. While the system initially showed that my prescription would be delivered the same day, that turned out not to be true once I transferred the prescription to Capsule and this action cannot be undone. To avoid potential delays, I would recommend using your own pharmacy from the start. That is the only thing I would do differently, as the medical care itself was excellent. The registration process was simple and convenient you complete it yourself through a link before your appointment. The waiting time was normal, similar to any other doctor's office. This is a medical practice, not a drive-thru service, so I found the wait reasonable. The physician took her time during the exam and thoroughly addressed every area of concern. I appreciated her confidence, attention to detail, and willingness to listen. Appt was on a Sunday at 9:20am and made online a few days before.

I want to share my experience regarding a recent visit for my child’s biopsy results. I arrived for my appointment prepared to pay my standard copay. Upon check-in, I was informed of a $45 balance related to the biopsy that I had not been made aware of prior to the visit. I explained that I was able to pay my copay that day and would have been willing to pay the remaining balance afterward, as my priority was receiving my child’s medical results. However, I was told I would need to reschedule the appointment. While I understand that medical offices have billing policies, I was disappointed that I was not informed ahead of time about this outstanding balance. Had I known, I would have made arrangements to resolve it prior to the appointment. This resulted in a delay in receiving important medical results, which could likely have been avoided with clearer communication. Honestly it seems giving patient care is not the priority at this office.

Come here for the exceptional dermatology care, but don’t expect a particularly warm or attentive experience from the front desk. Both receptionists could benefit from improving their customer service and hospitality skills. It often felt as though patients were inconveniencing them rather than being welcomed. Upon arrival, I was ignored while standing at the front desk, and one staff member was eating in the reception area during patient interactions. While the medical care was excellent, the overall experience was diminished by the lack of professionalism and attentiveness at the front desk.

during my recent visit with Dr. Umar Sheikh. I presented for treatment of a persistent, painful pimple and requested a cortisone injection, as I had received the same treatment one week prior without improvement. In the past, I have returned for a follow-up injection when necessary and have not encountered any issues receiving continued care. During this visit, Dr. Sheikh declined to administer a second injection, stating that insurance companies do not typically cover cortisone injections within a two-week period. However, it did not appear that my insurance provider had been contacted to verify my specific coverage. Instead, I was prescribed a topical cream and oral medication, despite my continued discomfort and lack of improvement. I find this concerning, as a treatment decision was made based on an assumption about my insurance coverage rather than confirmed information. Additionally, I was not offered the option to proceed with the treatment and assume financial responsibility if it were not covered. As a patient, I believe it is important to be fully informed and given the opportunity to make decisions regarding my care. I have been a patient at this practice for several years and have not previously experienced this type of issue. This situation was both disappointing and frustrating, particularly given my ongoing symptoms. I intend to contact my insurance provider directly to confirm their policy regarding this treatment. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and that steps be taken to ensure that future treatment decisions are based on verified information and that patients are clearly informed of their options.

I posted a review after having very poor billing experience at this location for last few years. After my review, business made a comment on my review and asked me to contact their billing department on the email provided. On the same day, I emailed my issue and its been almost a week now but I am still waiting to hear from them. Below is my previous review “They are scammers. I have been visiting this location for the last three years, and they charge me incorrectly after every visit. I then have to contact their billing department and also visit the location in person to fix the errors they made while submitting the claim to my insurance. I received an email stating that I would be charged $106 for my recent visit. I called their billing department and also visited in person last Friday. The receptionist informed me that I had not been charged yet and that they would fix the issue before submitting the claim to my insurance. However, I was charged again. When I called the billing department about this, they said it could take up to 60 days for recent visit claims to appear in their system and that I would need to visit the location in person. Today, when I went there and showed them proof of the same mistake they have been making for the past three years, they said they needed to contact the billing department but the billing department is not responding. When I asked about if they can provide me any contact information of some senior manager or anyone, she just said the contact info on the website is only info they can provide. They consistently bill me under a provider who is not in network with my insurance, and then charge me out of pocket. This feels like a potential scam.”
