After waiting for 4 years, today my dream finally came true. I had LASIK with Dr. Nader Iskander, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.
From the moment I walked into San Antonio Eye Specialists, every staff member treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. They made me feel comfortable, answered all of my questions patiently, and helped calm my nerves before the procedure.

I had my LASIK procedure yesterday with Dr. Iskander, and the entire experience was flawless from start to finish. My vision has never been this sharp—I am in absolute awe of the results! My journey began with their free consultation, where I appreciate that I was able to sit down and speak directly with Dr. Iskander. That personalized care gave me the confidence to move forward. Every staff member I met was professional and kind. Dr. Williams, the optometrist, handled my second consultation and my post-op visit, and her warm, professional demeanor kept me completely at ease. This was a 10/10 experience, and I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking to transform their life with LASIK!
I waited a very long time to write this review. I’m actually sitting in the chair waiting for my eyes to dilate for my last Light Adjustable Lenses treatment. The “lock in”. I shopped around extensively for this procedure. I was willing to travel. I was also stalling as I was extremely nervous about the procedure. That fear was unfounded. The procedure was painless and expertly completed.
It’s true that this elective procedure is expensive but I can say with complete confidence that it is totally worth it. I am completely glasses free, likely forever. It’s the greatest investment I’ve ever made.
I’m noticing that I’m going to miss these people. It’s been weeks. Never once have I been disappointed or dissatisfied with any member of the team here. All are kind and I enjoy interacting with them. They are completely professional but also warm and I don’t feel rushed or in a carefully refined assembly line. They tolerated my million questions. Sent me home with contact lenses to simulate different kinds of implantable lenses. They held a little class to show me how to put them in. I am terrible at it. I honestly colon have asked for a better experience pre or post procedure.
I quite nearly selected a much more expensive quote from a local team of doctors on the north side. The reason I didn’t was because the entire exchange felt like just a transaction. In fact the doubled price was one of my main reasons for almost selecting them. I was equating quality with price. The offices are absolutely opulent there the, snacks were not better. I’m sure they would have done a clinically similar job. That being said, I doubt very much that I would have had the opportunity for the kind of positive interactions I’ve had here with each doctor and each member of the staff. I doubt that I would anticipate missing them after all this time.
So again, the skill level is there for any of these doctors in the area I think, though Dr. Iskander’s resume does appear unique to San Antonio as far as accolades, memberships, and medical degrees.
I cannot recommend Drs. Williams, Membreño, and Iskander highly enough. Save yourself the weeks of research and come to San Antonio Eye Specialists.

I was worried I wouldn’t be a candidate for LASIK, but Dr.Iskander was able to make it happen for me. The procedure was very fast and exactly how it was explained to me. I could see right away, but the next day was even better after having slept an entire day and night the day before. I highly recommend Dr. Iskander for any eye related procedures. The facility is clean and top notch and the staff was warm, friendly, and put me at ease. I couldn’t have had a better experience.
Dr. Membreño is absolutely amazing! He is truly the consummate professional! And thanks to him I now have almost perfect distance and near vision after my recent surgery…I can actually read the ingredients on a soda can without glasses. I had the Laser Cataract Upgrade using Femtosecond Laser. The cost of the upgrade was worth it in my opinion. Every step of the way my questions were answered and my concerns addressed. In fact the entire staff were courteous and helpful from the front desk personnel to the nurses who discharged me post surgery. Definitely a five star experience.
