I was nervous about letting students do anything dental wise on me, im the last person to trust that process, however, they were wonderful. They made me feel comfortable. I was very pleased with my visit. The only issue i have was that it took me 2 months to get to just a consultation, and its going to take another 2 months to finally get work done. Its a long waiting process to get to an appointment. Thats just ridiculous. But other than that, wonderful experience!
Went here for the first time 2 months ago. It is a busy place, but very well organized from my experience. The dental student that worked with me from my first visit was great, and all of his supervising dentists were great as well. I should note I am a transgender man, and doctor appt’s of any kind can be anxiety provoking - especially when legal documents don’t reflect your current self. Anywho, 10/10 for these folks.
I've been a patient at NYU COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY since before the pandemic. I dont mind the fact that this is a teaching facility. Every procedure is monitored by so many competent, established, very much experienced and licensed dental instructor. You never have to worry about the professionalism of the students. The instructors inspect every thing; before moving on to the next stage of your dental journey, the students' work is inspected thoroughly by their instructors with signed approvals. I had 2 dental implants done there. The cost was 50% of what it would cost in a private office. Do yourself a favor and try the NYU COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY ... your bank account will love you and you'll love the work they do.
I've spent quite a few years getting my dentures. With the students at NYU and had no complaints, they're very compassionate and affectionate, and I love the way they detailed my dentures.
It's so advanced now that every tooth you can pick the pontic for your dentures.
As well as the shade color of the gums, i have nothing bad to say about that school.
As a matter of fact, I'm inspired to go back to school to be a dental assistant & hygenist, because that was my trade for 20 years to go back there.
I’ve been coming here for the last couple of months, it depends what doctor/ provider takes your case that you are going to receive a good treatment.
My biggest complain here is that if you want to book or reschedule an appointment you have to come straight up to the hospital, because every time I call they pick up and leave me on hold for the longest time and then just hung up, I was in so much pain trying to re schedule an appointment and that’s exactly what happened, I had to come to the hospital as an emergency for them to schedule me, I had to wait 2 hrs for an emergency walk in visit, cause in google says 9am walk ins I got there at 8:30 and they told me they start at 10 am, then again that’s why I tried to speak to someone on the phone I also spoke to the receptionist to change the provider and they told me I had to wait for someone to call during the week or next week, so now I gotta wait for a call to continue my treatment plan with someone else… if you are lucky you get a good provider from the beginning… just make your appointments at the hospital… they aren’t that professional
I have taken my daughter here a few times, but twice for major services. The service is really amazing. My daughter is 9 and not too fond of the dentist, like most children, but the last service they made her so calm and comfortable. They went out of their way with every detail to make sure I was good as her parent supporting her, my child was good and that we were comfortable. It’s a process, but I’d like to say for the most part they are on top of it. Thank you for your service.
NYU Dental has come a long way in the 25 years I have been getting treatments there. Making appointments is easy and the wait times are reasonable. I have had very good student dentists, so the training there must be excellent.
It's important to keep a few things in mind if you use this place 1. Many people elsewhere in the country do not have access to dental school services 2. The cost is generally abt 50% less than a regular dentist, insurance or not, but you should find out what your insurance does/doesn't cover, they dont always know. Also if you get an unexpected bill, don't pay it right away, insurance may eventually cover it. 3. You will prob never meet the "doctor " your name is attached to, it's your dental student(s) +their overseeing faculty. 5th fl is junior/senior-level students but they are still students,try to be patient. 1st year students do not see patients & 2nd year only do intake stuff 4. It will take more time than a regular dental visit bc it's a school, they're learning & need their faculty to check, approve & occasionally supervise what they do. Allow at least 1.5 hrs in your schedule, 2+ is better.
It's not a regular dentist, it's a school. The idea is for students to learn & ppl who need more affordable dental care to both benefit. If you're poor like me you're used to disappointment & waiting. However I'm only taking off 1 star bc prescriptions can be tricky, & faculty should work on keeping a more professional environment (loud chatter recently among unoccupied students). Otherwise, this place has saved me thousands of dollars over 3 yrs (regular/deep cleanings, 2 impacted extractions) and I'm extremely grateful for it. I've had 4 students (2 pairs) care for me & they were all extremely kind, meticulous in their work and motivated to improve their craft. They are also not all 20-something years old, some are 30s, 40s or maybe more. It's never too late to go back to school!
