I’ve been here about five times now, and every visit has been a great experience. The check-in process is quick and efficient, and I’ve always been seen within 45 minutes or less of my arrival time. The front desk staff is welcoming, and I even noticed them sanitizing the seating area during one of my visits. The nurses are helpful and very comforting, especially when I shared my worries about blood or open wounds. The doctors have been professional, reassuring, and thorough in answering all of my questions. I feel very lucky to have such a reliable clinic just 5 minutes from my home.
While check-in could be a little more streamlined once I was back and able to talk with the staff by the name of Pepper things went really quickly. Pepper was amazing and very personable. He made me feel comfortable and told me what my next steps would be. Once the doctor came in he was very professional and to the point took in to account all my concerns and I didn't feel rushed. I live out of state so when I'm not feeling well and I am visiting, it helps to find care that is consistent and helpful. I will definitely continue to make this my first stop for care when it is needed and I am in the area.
- you have to check in via phone, they don't do it for you, but the reception is poor, so it takes a long time. If you're already feeling stressed out about what you're in for, you might not want to deal with this.
- my child was terrified of her throat swab (testing for strep), and I was completely willing to do it, but the nurse seemed like she couldn't handle my daughter's crying, so she took the swab before I felt confident that I got a good swab.
- the doctor's recommended treatment didn't make sense: so I asked a few questions, and she literally just shrugged, and said, "I'm just telling you what I see" (but her treatment didn't add up to "what she saw"). I didn't even get to explain that the swab seemed unsubstantial, it seemed she was in such a hurry to be done with us. Our usual doctors at UCLA never treat us this way. They always listen to my thoughts and concerns and give me different things to consider.
- I'll just drive all the way to UCLA next time. Try other Urgent cares before coming here.
EXPENSIVE and EVASIVE about billing.
I came in here for a suspected case of strep throat. I didn't have an appointment, showed up right when they opened, and was in and out in about 45 minutes, maybe 10 of which was with the actual provider. The place was nice and I left feeling like I received great care. They said there's no copay and that the bill would be submitted to my insurance. All pretty normal.
The bill came and it was for over $700, nearly $500 of which was my responsibility. There was no explanation of what the bill was for, just an amount due. I spent the next couple weeks trying to get an itemized bill to no avail.
I texted the number they texted me from. No reply.
I emailed the address they emailed me from. No reply.
I called the billing number and got an AI assistant who said they'd provide me with an itemized bill. Nothing came.
I showed up in person to ask for the itemized bill, and all the person at the counter could give me was the amount due. They said they have no other information...at the actual place that provided the service.
ALL I WANT IS TO KNOW WHAT I'M PAYING FOR. That's it. I know urgent care can be expensive, but I'm not just going to throw money at it without an explanation!
They get two stars only because the service was good, the place was clean, and there was little wait for a walk-in.
Now this refusal or inability to provide me with a detailed bill makes me think they're up to something shady.
Everyone is so nice here! Had ro get a TB test for my daughter as a requirement for summer camp. Someone recommended Exer so we stopped in to ask. Alondra at the front desk was so friendly. Checked us in right away and we got the test done. Would recommend l!
I have gone to the Exer Urgent Care (now Medari) in Glendale (on Glendale Avenue) before, and the experience there was great. The doctors were friendly, they diagnosed me quickly, and they gave me the medication I needed. That’s the only reason I even tried this location, it’s closer to my house. But this place was the complete opposite.
Online it says they close at 8 PM, so I got there at 7:40. You would think that if a patient walks in before closing, the staff would be “allowed” to stay until the last patient is treated. Instead, the moment I walked in, the man at the front desk told me I needed to fill out the paperwork “quick,” and if I wasn’t done in 10 minutes, they were closing, even though I was already inside the lobby. I was having Wi‑Fi issues, which made the whole thing even more stressful.
A few minutes later a nurse came out and took me in, but you could tell she was rushing. She asked questions quickly, took me to a room, Took my vitals, and I still hadn’t even finished registering. Then another provider or nurse practitioner walked in and asked what was going on. I explained my symptoms, and she just stared at me, checked my ear, and honestly didn’t seem to know what she was looking for. The whole “exam” lasted maybe five minutes.
Five minutes before 8, she told me I needed to go to the ER and that she would “refer” me there, all over what ended up being a simple sinus infection. They were clearly rushing to get out of there. They left me in the room for a few minutes, and when I opened the door, I saw a nurse on her phone giggling and another one literally sitting on the counter. As soon as they saw me, they jumped up and pretended to be busy. They told me it was taking longer because they had to “register” me.
In the end, they did absolutely nothing for me. No medication, not even something for the pain, even though I was in excruciating discomfort. They just pushed me out the door and told me to go to the ER. And of course, I’m sure they still sent a nice big bill to my insurance for doing nothing.
The moment I walked out; I hadn’t even made it to my car yet, the same provider who “saw” me walked out right behind me with her purse and lunch bag. That tells you everything, they just wanted to leave. They didn’t care about the patient at all. It was all about getting out by 8, or as fast as they could closer to the end of shift. These people have no vocation. Why are they in healthcare?
I ended up going to The emergency room, and guess what? It was just a sinus infection. The doctor there couldn’t believe the other place didn’t treat it.
I will avoid this location at all costs. If you need real care, go to the Glendale Exer instead.
I had to utilize Exer urgent care in La Cañada for a knee injury, and I was fortunate enough to receive excellent service from provider Derek Asimus. Derek is exceptional. He demonstrated great communication, he is extremely skilled, professional, has excellent bedside manners, and persist in taking care of his patients. I am grateful for his time and care. The staff were great, too. Reception, as well as the techs. Thank you for a great experience.
Don't be fooled by the fancy waiting room. This urgent care doesn't care about you, they just want your money and they make it obvious. Went in and there was no line, only good thing I can say is that they took me in quickly (I was the first in line of 2 people). The intake nurse was ok but the doctor rushed me and was talking 100 mph even though at the moment I was 1 of 2 or 3 people in the whole clinic. I left confused. I called back a few days later to get my test results and they said they would call me back. I called again a couple more times and asked for my test results to be released to me and that I don't need the doctor to explain the results to me, they said it's against their policy unless a doc talks to me first. Doc didn't call until a week and a half later to tell me my results were negative. Now they're charging me double what I usually pay to go to the doctor or urgent care. I truly do not recommend this place and will never go back.
