I had a really positive experience at Charles B. Wang Community Health Center for my OB/GYN care. From the moment I walked in, everything felt smooth and efficient. The check-in process was quick, and I was seen pretty fast, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re already a little anxious coming in.
The staff were all very kind and patient, and they took the time to explain everything clearly instead of rushing through the appointment. I felt informed and comfortable asking questions, which I really appreciated. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure you understand your care and feel supported.
The environment itself was also a big plus clean, organized, and well-maintained. It felt welcoming and professional without being intimidating.
The attention overall is amazing, place is clean and organized. No long waits until your doctor sees you, I would 100% recommend this place. I go there for Dr. Spivey and he's by far the best doctor I've had so far. Great attention, polite and respectful... very easy to talk to. I'm happy I found this place and that I didn't have to go on a hunt for good attention and specialists.
Dr. Charley Cheng is an exceptional dentist who truly goes above and beyond for his patients. From the moment you walk into the office, you’re welcomed with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Dr. Cheng takes the time to explain every procedure clearly, making sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout the entire visit.
His attention to detail, gentle approach, and commitment to patient comfort set him apart. You can tell he takes pride in his work, and the results speak for themselves. Whether it’s a routine cleaning or a more complex treatment, Dr. Cheng consistently delivers outstanding care.

The facilities are new so they get kudos for that. I’ve only been seen at the dental clinic and I have to say the care is pretty basic. Most dentists are recent grads and they seem unprepared for procedures outside of basic cleaning, even though hygienists actually perform that procedure, and mouth guards. I don’t think the dentists are incentivized to broaden their expertise as most likely they are salaried. The dentist I’ve dealt with is nice and cordial, but I don’t have any faith in him with non routine procedures.
I sincerely thank all the dental staffs at the Charles B. Huang Community Health Center for their excellent teamwork. They called me yesterday to remind me to take my amoxicillin , so I could attend my appointment today. I especially want to thank Dr. Justine Ippolito-Fata, Mr. Richard Shao (Registered Dental Hygiene Practitioner), and their colleagues, particularly the reception staffs for their excellent service. They immediately helped me when I discovered my phone was lost at the waiting Room and they found it quickly. I truly admire their outstanding teamwork. Thank you again!

I feel so blessed to have an amazing care team here at the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center.
I have never had a more patient primary care provider than Dr. Jeff Zhang. In years of visits with him, I've never once felt rushed—on the contrary, I've occasionally worried that he might be late to see other patients because he was being so generous in answering all my questions and concerns! He's incredibly responsive to messages via MyChart, and he's always been willing to do research or connect me with a specialist if I have a more niche concern.
For dental, I feel so confident that my teeth are great hands with Dr. Kevin Tran. He's such a clear and charismatic communicator that I never leave the office confused or worried that one of my questions was brushed aside. He's positive and encouraging, and—unlike so many other dentists out there these days—he has never once tried to upsell me on some kind of unnecessary service or procedure. He very helpfully explains what he's doing while he's poking around in my mouth and I simply couldn't be happier with the work he does.
Finally, I am ride-or-die loyal to the fabulous optometrist, Dr. Judy Lo. She is so sweet; she is so knowledgeable; she is so professional; and she is so generous with her time, too. Over the years, she's really made the effort to get to know me and to understand the way I use glasses and contact lenses to make my way through the world (and see where I'm going). Like many other patients, I get a bit sensitive with machines and devices right next to my eyeballs, but Dr. Lo has the gentlest touch and calming presence in the exam room. I can't speak highly enough about her and her team.
By the way, the office here on 40th Road in Flushing is gorgeous. The dental exam rooms are easily the biggest I've ever seen in New York City, and it feels wonderful to have natural light pouring into the while I recline in the chair. The optometry suite is clearly brand new and they have the newest, nicest devices on hand. It's just a lovely building.
In the past, there were some issues with less-than-stellar customer service at the front desks, but I've noticed a lot of progress there over the past year. In my previous few visits, everyone has been pleasant and welcoming.
I was told that I need to take 7 dental X-rays every 6 months (4 bitewing and 3 front) in order to receive a routine cleaning. This feels excessive and not in line with standard dental practices. While I understand X-rays are important, I would expect them to be recommended based on individual clinical need rather than required so frequently for basic care. I would appreciate more transparency and a patient-centered approach.
I am leaving two stars only because the receptionists and Dr. Kevin Tran were amazing. However, I want to warn people about my experience with Dr. Charley Cheng.
In March, I went in for an emergency appointment because I had severe pain in my top front tooth. Dr. Cheng took an X-ray, told me my tooth was fine, and sent me home.
A month later, I went to NYU College of Dentistry for a braces consultation. A student looked at the exact same X-ray from my visit with Dr. Cheng and immediately found a crack running from side to side on the top of my tooth. A student found what a professional dentist missed.
I scheduled a follow-up at Charles B. Wang on 5/2 with Dr. Kevin Tran, who was incredibly helpful. He confirmed the tooth was cracked side-to-side and that it had clearly been that way since my first visit in March. Because of this two-month delay, I had to get an emergency root canal at NYU on 5/4 to save my front tooth.
It is completely unacceptable to let a patient walk around in pain for two months with a severely cracked tooth. Go here for the wonderful receptionists and Dr. Tran, but be very careful and always get a second opinion if you see Dr. Cheng.
