While visiting a family member in May 2026. We ate at the cafeteria and food was good and very very affordable. So now we eat at the cafeteria as one of our restaurants..lol.. latest lunch specials..2 burger bacon meals and one BBQ chop meal $29.. staff and service is good. No free parking. Have to use city parking meters.

I am extremely disappointed with our experience at Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio. The condition of this hospital was shocking. The floors appeared filthy, and we even noticed what looked like old blood stains that had not been properly cleaned. The facility and much of the equipment seemed outdated and in need of replacement, which did not inspire confidence in the quality of care being provided. I understand that every person deserves medical care regardless of their financial situation or circumstances, including those experiencing homelessness. My concern is not with the patients themselves, but with the hospital’s apparent inability to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for everyone. What upset me the most was the lack of compassion and attention shown to my husband. He was visibly weak, struggling to walk, and nearly fainting, yet no one offered him a wheelchair or assistance from a nurse. Watching him try to make his way through the hospital without anyone stepping in to help was heartbreaking and unacceptable. A hospital should provide a clean environment and compassionate care to every patient. Unfortunately, our experience fell far below those expectations. I hope the hospital takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements to both its cleanliness and the level of care provided to patients.

Sunday May 3rd, 2026 My husband brought me to the ER around 11:30pm. Not your standard ER where you can just drive right up to the door. You have to go up some big zag walkway. That's not great but it is what it is. Our 1st person to encounter was the intake person at the window. She did her job, that is it. Nothing more, not even a smile. I guess it is not in job description. Anyways, the next person we encountered was AMAZING!!! Even though I was in excruciating pain, I remember John RN. I was screaming loud as I was scared out of my mind not know what was going on with me. He kept saying he was going to help me and get my pain level down. I was hyperventilating and he needed to get my vital signs. He never once lost his patience with me. He got me to breathe steady. He got my pain level down. John then said he needed to put me in a rm and that a different John RN would take over. John was great. He answered all our questions. Checked on me frequently. Michelle transported me to get my CT scan with Thai. Michelle saw how cold I was and bundled me up to take me to the scan. Very sweet. Thai was professional and got the job done. I forgot the very nice red head lady who brought me juice, checked on me and got the nurse when needed. Dr Diana Coleman was GREAT! She explained everything to me, ordered everything and listened to me. She didn't just rush in and out. I want to thank all of you for taking such great care of me. It is much appreciated.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to the incredible team at Baptist Medical Center for the exceptional care they provided to my mother during one of the most difficult times for our family. Karla, Sabrine, Brittni, Roffelle, Oriana, Thomas, and Beth provided truly exceptional bedside care while my mother was in the ICU. I am forever grateful to the ICU team. Their compassion, attentiveness, and professionalism brought comfort to both my mother and our family during an incredibly stressful time. Everyone from Dr. Pollard’s team was outstanding, and we are deeply grateful for their expertise, dedication, and compassionate care. I also want to sincerely thank Dr. Deal, NP Ivy and Dr. Hilburn for the excellent care they provided. The CVU team was also amazing throughout my mother’s recovery. Their continued support, attentiveness, and compassion helped make a very challenging recovery process much easier for both my mother and our family. I would also like to recognize Alan from Case Management and the Physical Therapy team, who were incredibly helpful and supportive. Their guidance and dedication played an important role in ensuring a smooth recovery and discharge process. I would especially like to recognize Connie Thigpen for her unwavering support throughout this entire journey. As a nurse myself, I understood the seriousness and complexity of a CABG, but it becomes much more personal when it is your own mother undergoing the procedure. Ms. Thigpen was the very first person I called, and she helped guide me through every step from admission to discharge. She checked in with me daily, offered reassurance, and always ensured we had the support and resources we needed. Ms. Thigpen, thank you for your kindness, compassion, and everything you did for our family. Your support made an incredibly difficult experience much easier to navigate. We will always be grateful to everyone at Baptist Medical Center for the exceptional care, compassion, and dedication shown to my mother and our family.

The hospital is greatly outdated. There are leaks in the restrooms located in the visitors area and some contradictory pamphlets on healthy eating next to the vending machines that only provide coke products, chips, and candy. The rooms where the patients are...they're embarrassingly gross and severely outdated. There's no clean floors either. This is just awful. What a terrible excuse for a hospital. When your loved one is dying, the last thing you want to feel is being in a landfill. For the amount of money that goes into these places, someone really should take a look at the depravity here.

I was recently admitted to BMC for cardiac care, and I want to share how deeply grateful I am for the incredible nurses who cared for me after receiving my cardiac stents. Every one of them made a frightening experience feel a little safer, a little calmer, and a lot more human. Rose welcomed me the moment I arrived and got me settled into my bed with such kindness that my anxiety eased almost immediately. Oscar watched over me through the night and prepared me for my procedure with a calm confidence that helped me feel ready for what was ahead. Mona cared for me overnight after my stents were placed, and her steady presence made those hours so much easier. And Miriam — who cared for me after my procedure and during discharge — left the biggest mark on my heart. When I returned to my room and my chest pain suddenly came back, I felt completely out of control. But thanks to Miriam’s skill and experience, she acted instantly and without hesitation She assessed me, contacted my cardiologist right away, and explained every step she was taking to get my pain under control. Her quick actions relieved my chest pain, but just as importantly, the way she spoke to me, reassured me, and eased my fear was some of the most compassionate care I’ve ever received. I also want to give a heartfelt “shout‑out” to the woman working in the Discharge Lounge. She was an absolute unsung hero — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. She made sure I had snacks, a TV to watch, and health pamphlets to pass the time while waiting for my ride. I expected to simply walk out on my own, but she insisted on escorting me all the way to the car to make sure I got there safely. That small act meant more than she probably realized.

We would like to acknowledge PCA, Dulce Rosales for caring for my sister, Oralia S. Torres during her stay at Downtown Baptist Hosital, room 375. Mrs. Rosales has shown extreme compassion, care and patience for my sister. Thank you for your kindness, Mrs. Rosales. Give Mrs. Rosales strength and wisdom, when others need her touch; a soothing word to speak to them, their hearts yearn for so much. Amen. Torres and Silva Family.

Floor 3C nurse Raquel was insanely helpful and kind. She doesn’t make you feel like you’re just another patient here, she goes above and beyond and makes you feel like family! Very great experience here.
