I attended the Day Surgery Dept today at St John's and what a superb experience it was. The initial greeting as I entered the hospital from one of the porters was polite and helpful. The nurse that booked me in through to the surgeon, the nurses in pre-op and recovery were all friendly and helpful. The whole process was explained from start to finish in way that was easy for me to understand. I felt at ease and in good hands. Thank you. Oh, car parking was an absolute breeze too :-)

My daughter was transferred from Aberdeen maternity hospital to St John's hospital for a planned c-section to deliver her identical twins. The care both my daughter and 2 new granddaughters received at st John's was great. There was a lot of miscommunication between Aberdeen maternity hospital and st John's, but casting that aside, the care she received was second to none. Fantastic hospital.

Admitted this morning for minor surgery, about to go home. From admission to discharge the staff and procedures have been first class. Friendly and helpful, couldn't ask for more. To all those who knock the NHS for whatever reason, the staff are amazing 👏

When in Edinburgh to catch a flight in the afternoon, we urgently needed to be seen in the morning and went to St. John's. We had been advised that there is quite some waiting time but from the start we were treated very nicely and friendly. Once informed that we were hoping to get on that flight later on, Nurse Lynn spoke to a specialist by the name of Sharon, who was available in no time and looked after us in the nicest possible way. Everyone tried their best helping us in the limited time we had but with all required professionalism. Sharon quickly organised a slot for a scan, as well as a room for us to wait for the results, where we got offered coffees & teas by the nurses. Everyone was just so lovely and caring, and this wee review is just us trying to express our gratitude.

I visited the a&e here in the early hours of the morning after my shoulder popped out of it's socket for a bit. The staff (especially reception) were lovely, and contrary to everything I'd heard, I was seen almost straight away. The only thing I could fault them on was the limited selection on their analgesics menu. Paracetamol didn't really do a lot. I got a referral to physio which came through quickly, and I'm pretty much all better now. Thanks NHS

Great surgeon who operated on my groin to remove my lyphnodes and nerves due to cancer. He was a private surgeon who works part-time in the nhs just like other surgeons.I never knew this. The nurses at ward 18,i cant thank them enough, they were funny, worked their butt's of as it was easter and only one theater was opened.I have had a few frustrating things happen but thats normal. The a&e was a little different though.I believe in treating people with respect and you will be treated with respect back This didn't happen.I waited 9hrs for someone to see me then they tell you to go back to the waiting area to wait until a surgeon sees you.She eventually seen me and instantly wanted me to stay overnight as I had an infection. She just had to speak to her boss. She came back and gave me antibiotics and sent me home which I understand, there's more people needing a bed than me.It was when I was asking questions i was shut down immediately and she became abusive to me pwhich I couldn't understand,I wasnt interrupting her I just wanted answers.Which I think is understandable but she was making out i was being abusive when I was only asking her a question.I just wish some doctors could be a little more compassionate.Nurses were brilliant though and the nurse that is seeing me now is absolutely brilliant. My Wound opened up and its still open.I was told I wouldn't need to get it drained from the hospital as its draining itself now.To be honest I would prefer getting it drained in the hospital as I live alone,my couch and bed are destroyed but I suppose I needed to just get on with it. Nurses in ward 18 were brilliant. I forgot to mention them as im still foggy minded from the operation. All in all I had a good experience in st johns when it came to surgery and the nurses.I was let out too early my consultant said but I understand. The nhs is bursting at the seams and you have to go on a waiting list for a bed, then a waiting list for theatre.I remember when that was not an issue the last time I was in.Times have changed. Not for the better but for the worse. But the nurses are brilliant. And the nurse im seeing now is absolutely brilliant.Sam your a little star.Thankyou for understanding my situation at home and with my wound still open. You are such a caring nurse and is compassionate and you really do care. You give me what I need for at home.Ive become a bit of an expert at dressings now 😄. Remember dont answer back or some doctors will see that as abuse.

I just got out today after nearly a week . The staff/ nurses that look after me were brilliant. I had a really bad time and was ill. The surgeon operated on me 3 times. I was on ward 18 and every single member of staff were brilliant. Really looked after. From the domestic nurses surgeon were all brilliant. Work under so much pressure. Thank you

I was at A+E on Tuesday and had a very good experience. All staff from initial reception, triage, nurses, doctors, porters, scanning and consultant were first rate. Professional, caring, and kept me clearly informed at every stage.
