I will never take our NHS for granted, we are so lucky, everyone was superb and made me feel comfortable on my first time visiting the HH. After my appointment with Dr Elmolla and his team who were all fantastic, I took the stairs and I'm so glad I did. I met a lady called Jayne who was raising awareness with regard to the Sheffield Hospital Charity, with respect sometimes a thankless task, however some days not.
I with my mother and father attended on 5/6/26 taking my father for treatment at the eye clinic. Upon parking up at the multi story car park I was most pleasantly surprised to be able to speak to a human at the pay point who also told me another human was just around the corner in the kiosk, most surreal!
A short walk and we was at the reception to eye clinic, all reception staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Being a touch early we went to the cafe and met some wonderful volunteer helpers along the way! The cafe was great.
We returned for our allotted time and was seen promptly. Their were many stages of treatment but at each one every member of staff was truly amazing. A great experience which has certainly lifted the bar of experiences for us all!
Many thanks indeed and keep up the fantastic work and awesome enthusiasm, your true stars!!!!!
Had a few appointments at the G1 ward, and was seen by this lovely nurse called Jessie. My first experience at Hallamshire as I've always gone to Rotherham, and I went in for quite a hard appointment, and she made me feel so at ease, she was patient and kind with me, and I just felt so comfortable with her. Thank you Jessie for making what was a difficult experience, that little bit easier for me.
Had a couple of appointments recently on ward G1 and just want to say I was blown away by the care and support from all the nurses. Special thanks to Natalie, she made the whole experience way easier for me by being so nice, comforting and accommodating.
It's a good hospital with great staff as with most NHS hospitals it could do with better funding . Parking is limited as it was built when there were less cars about .at first visit it's a daunting site as it can seem difficult to find your way around but after a couple of visits it all seems fairly quickly to become straightforward. On the times I have needed to go staff do amazing work , it's just a shame they don't have the funds to help more people
My husband John Heap had stage 4 cancer of the voice box and a year to live .Dr Dodd and her team operated and saved him . The team on i1 was amazing over the nearly two week they helped , gave support and love . I will never ever call the NHS again .All I can say thank you all from the bottom of my heart to all of you , you are amazing thank you xxx
Awful place!
I was referred here to diagnose and, hopefully, treat jerks and seizures, as well as significant cognitive impairment. I asked to be seen at a local hospital instead of going all the way to Sheffield but was assured that the appointments, whilst run by Royal Hallamshire, would be at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. When attempting to book at Chesterfield I was told these were no longer running. Rather than risk another lengthy wait to see someone at a local hospital I reluctantly chose to go to Sheffield.
Despite being referred as urgent, it took over a year to see a consultant. I was then referred for various tests, including a full spine MRI scan. Despite making it clear that I suffer with claustrophobia, ASD, and multiple severe mental health issues, I was placed into a narrow scanner without warning, which resulted in a panic attack. I was then rebooked for a wide scanner, which took another 3 months. When I arrived, I was told there were no wide scanners available so I would have to go into a narrow scanner again. Despite my best efforts, I had another panic attack. Two wasted visits, months of delays, and no further forward.
I contacted the hospital to discuss this and was told someone would call me back but they never did. I called to chase and was told they thought I no longer wanted to use the service, which is a complete lie. I was then booked for an appointment in December but couldn't attend due to my car breaking down (this probably wouldn't have been an issue if I was local, but I'm not). I told the person I spoke to why I wouldn't be able to attend that day and asked that another appointment is made ASAP. When I chased again, I was given an appointment for today. I arrived at the hospital early but found that the multi storey car park was closed. I couldn't find any spaces nearby, so I ended up abandoning the appointment.
Whilst I was driving home I had a call from the consultant. I told him I was thinking of changing to a local hospital, at which point he advised he could arrange for an appointment at Chesterfield or Bassetlaw Hospital - so it seems the information I was given previously was a lie.
If I ever need a hospital referral again, I will definitely not accept one within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals because they are completely inept and don't care about a patient's wellbeing or disability status.
Had a referral to the neurology department for a second opinion .
I was discharged after tests without my knowledge ,Doctor said he had not been asked for any investigation . I received no consultation after the tests and was simply discharged to my primary hospital. After making enquiries I was then sent some notes on the tests. They were not complete and did not offer any face to face consultation as one would expect when considering a life changing condition.
I wasn't given the opportunity to discuss or indeed ask questions.
After making a complaint the Doctor phoned me without warning to apologise ,however when I had tried to ask questions about my condition he said he didn't have time and then hung up.
I think that if this hospital does not have the time to consult and help patients then this should be made known in advance.
