Love this GP, always so professional and the healthcare professionals are excellent at their jobs. They are always respectful, kind and clearly knowledgeable and go above and beyond to deliver the best patient care. It's also very easy to get an appointment via the online form, often getting one on the same day if you submit the form early.

I was extremely disappointed by the unprofessional, dismissive, and unempathetic attitude displayed by the reception team, particularly Alison. Despite clearly outlining my request via the e-consult form and specifically asking to be seen by a doctor at the practice, I was effectively given two options: accept an appointment with a clinician chosen by the surgery or have the appointment cancelled altogether. What was particularly concerning was that I was never informed in advance that my request to see a doctor would not be accommodated. After waiting over two years to discuss an ongoing and complex health concern with a GP, I was once again assigned to a nurse practitioner without any prior communication or explanation. This was especially frustrating given that my previous consultation with a nurse practitioner did not result in an adequate assessment of my condition, contributing to ongoing difficulties in managing my health. As a patient with a long-term medical condition requiring continuity of care and informed clinical judgement, I believe it is entirely reasonable to request an appointment with a doctor when I feel it is necessary. Patients should be treated with respect, listened to, and provided with clear communication regarding changes to appointments and clinical arrangements. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of these expectations. Lakeside Medical Practice should seriously review the approach and attitude of its reception team. Reception staff are often the first point of contact for patients who may already be dealing with difficult, stressful, or ongoing health concerns. Rather than treating patients as administrative tasks to be processed, there needs to be greater empathy, understanding, and a genuine willingness to work collaboratively towards reasonable solutions. A healthcare service should be centred around patient care, and unfortunately that was not reflected in my experience.
